Oh, dang. A Chevy Traverse. Dump that crap fast. My brother-in-law has a friend that use to work on those all day long at a Chevy dealer. He was low man for 2-3 years and so they stuck him with all the "fun" jobs. He can't even remember how many transmissions on less than 3 year old Traverses he replaced. He quit that job and is now working for a heavy equipment place and is much happier. He's dang good at Cummins engine work as well.

Real fine system automakers have created. And everyone wonders why I love cars built before 1996 ... This was GREAT, Keith! Learned alot on this one. It really isn't as complicated as my mind makes it out to be, once you isolate and test each leg like you did. Of course, the right tools make all the difference too - I'm still working on that part of it. 😊 LOVED the vid - THANK YOU!👍

I love videos like this. You are excellent at what you do. A friend of mine called me on an 08 Acadia that I cant communicate with the engine ecm or hatch module. Has loss of communication codes stored. I bought a pico scope and want to use it. You have had multiple videos using that GM low CAN plug with the jumper connector. I think that is super useful to know to "separate" the circuits and narrow down a problem. I understand why your stuff is quick and to the point but man it would be awesome to learn it all. Then again i know experience is key. I work on heavy construction equipment and not automotive so seeing you and select others on KZbin helps a lot.

Sir, our 2015 is at the dealer currently with the exact symptoms as in the video. The dealer has called me twice today, and asked what I saw and did...Service writer stated they dont have communication with the ECU and are calling GM for advice...Tire air system low light indicator on, Air bag Service light on, key fog doesnt work, dash lights out, no volts shown on the gauge, when turning the key to on/start... Thank you for being a true professional in the industry!!

Just ran into this today I was dumb founded and was about to send it to the dealership. I used this as a reference point following your step with a multimeter and found the climate control also was the issue. No start,no communication,no radio,no hvac,no gauges working intermittently, and inop key fob. Thanks for the info sure was a lot of help.

That's the problem with today's cars. I know they are trying to save wires. But a HVAC module shouldn't stop the car from starting. Didn't think the low speed LAN would keep the car from starting, only the high speed. Thanks for making this informative video.

This makes it clear why Honda/Acura for example use a F-CAN network for their powertrain, drivetrain, brake/abs modules for fast bus-data and a separate B-CAN network for the rest of the body related modules; hvac, audio, door locks, windows, seats etc. Wait why am I comparing GM to Honda

Thats was an awesome video keith. My question to u is. I have a shop behind my house with 3 bays just 1 lift right now and im doing quite a bit of automotive stuff on the side of my full time job. I have been using all data diy up to this point when i need diagrams but i would love to get your view on info platforms. If u had to have 1 in my type of situation where diag is obviosly a part of what i do but also lots of repairs. Rusty ones cause up in northern ny utica area. Lol. Just wanted your valued opinion on what would be the best for my money

Just watched this video again Keith like you told me. One question though why is there no activity on pin 2 that goes to the other splice pack. With all the modules that are on it I wouldn't expect a zero flatline.

How does the scan tool communicate with the radio, for example, when you have the junction connector jumper removed? Doesn't that isolate all the modules?
@daveyio875 жыл бұрын
i had one of these last spring that was the issue, ended up finding that the terminal next to the data line is either power or ground and had bad contact melting the connector causing the fault. had to get a new module then build a new connector since a pig tail isn't available
@fuckjewtube694 жыл бұрын
Is this similar to VW and their K line? I have a 2004 Touareg with zero activity on the CAN lines and I'm now reading that it actually uses the K line for comms and not really CAN. The CAN lines from DLC connector to Instrument cluster (gateway) actually shows infinite resistance and I called a cluster because of that, no shorts of opens in the lines. 60 ohms on the CAN line coming out of the cluster but no activity. It's almost the exact same symptoms as this. I already unplugged all modules apart from airbag and HVAC which I need a special tool for. Powers and grounds are good.

Great video sir, I'm working on a 2014 gmc traverse. No start only module not communicating is the immobilizer control module. I picked up a used one plugged it in and still nothing. Took it to the bench and desoldered the eeprom 95040 and transferred to donor. Still no comms. I have comms with everything else in the vehicle.
