Pick up my 67 reg tuono factory on Saturday can’t wait it’s done 4000 miles I’ve always had supersports but finally making the change to naked Still feeling a little unsure but looking at reviews of the bike they’re awesome

Glad to see Aprilia are really on the ball with lending out bikes to Moto Vloggers and getting their stuff out there on KZbin because if I want to buy a new bike I won't chat to the blokes at the dealerships..I'm straight on KZbin looking for reviews. Another good video Chops 👍. Just a note for ya mate I've subscribed to you for a long time now and your content still doesn't seem to pop up without my physically searching bud...thought you should know

Why oh why oh why oh why is there NO Aprilia dealer within a 1,000 miles of me!!??? Man I LOVE the 1100 Tuono Factory!!!! Came VERY close to buying one as my first Supernaked , leaving my sport bike past. I left that class and my 2015 crossplane R1 because of a motorcycle related back injury and my riding patern and preference seemed to point directly at the Supernakeds being that ALL my riding aside from a. Couple track days a year, are daily commute and pleasure in the canyons but a thirst for Torque , agility but also some comfort. Test rode one from an exotic car dealership that picks up a few random exotic bikes occasionally. Had 12 miles and brand new even tho it wasn't comming from an Aprilia dealer. I test rode it and it was EVeRYTHING I never knew I needed and wanted! 🙂 would clearly be an absolute weapon at trackdays , but could take it on a 6 hour meandering ride on my way home. The cost at $17,500 US was hard to swallow , not that it's not worth it but is clearly expensive, then doing some research into Aprilias reliability track record and seeing the cost numbers for some of the servicing , I about passed out, but the killer was no dealer within a thousand miles of me and a bike not known for their reliability. IF there was a dealer within a couple hours, hands down would have bought it. My point was demonstrated to me by a relatively famous KZbin motoVlogger "The Muscle Biker" ,..he's local and has a zx6r and a RSV4 SBK Factory,..GORGEOUS! He actually bought it out from under me unknowingly funny enough. Well he needed to get the valves ajusted , bit no dealer within a 1000 miles so decided to do it himself and he's mechanically inclined. Ended up messing it up and it's been out of commission for a few months and sitting out of state at a shop , oh and it's going to be EXPENSIvE! While it's down he decided to get A new bike, , bought my FZ10 that I regret selling now. He's vlogging like crazy on it and loves it. He also said he's obsessed with the sound it produces ,..that's comming from an Aprilia guy which says LOtS! His experience demonstrated my fears. If only we had a dealer near!! That Factory is my dream,..but I've also decided I'm buying another FZ10, after 2 years ownership, and it only being gone a month , I need another one which Says something about the FZ10 for me personally. I'm curious what owners of these have to say about the reliability, is it all BS or legitimate? I ended up spending $8,250 US LESS on A new crossplane FZ10 (MT10) , the only Japanese Supernaked and while I understand the FZ10 is not a Tuono Factory or a superduke , at nearly half the cost, Yamaha reliability and dealers on every corner, performance not far off those other two even considering the price difference and the selling point for me, the crossplane 4 that is retuned for torque in the low and midrange. Ya it's down on power from the R1 but it's supose to be, Jsut like the tuono from the RSV4 bit it feels SO fast with that torque curve! I mean, my '15 R1 was a monster up top but on tight tracks , Turns, city commuting get painfully out of place and almsot gutless at lower speeds (which it's obviously supose to) never had much of an issue of the front wheel comming up very often, but my FZ10 , just like lamb chops review, it constantly on every ride comes up SO easily just under throttle. Gives a sensation of speed and power every where you go, parking lots, city streets, canyons, Jsut feels insanely fast! Have been able to overtake many a sport bikes at track days with the less powered Snaked FZ10. I know ya either love or hate the looks but I happen to LOVE it! So for me personally , the FZ10 is perfect in every way., did a race filter , Termignoni Y pipe and a reflash and getting numbers better than the tuono, so the 160 hp is no existent now, not that it wasn't enough. It's ceiling is above where I could ever reach performance wise at my level. Id love an SP , best of all worlds but doesn't appear we will ever get them here. While I am obsessed with the Rossi-GP sound of a catless crossplane 4 , every time I hear that Aprilia V4 my knees get shaky! Decat it with an Austin or SC project and it's pure bliss! I keep watching your videos of the tuono!

I'm pretty envious right now. I am thinking of "upgrading" my 2014 Triumph Street Triple R to the 2017 Tuono. Your videos are definitely doing a great job at convincing me to sell the STR and buy the Tuono. lol Great videos, keep up the great work. I'm looking forward to the upcoming content. Thumbs up.

Thanks for the video - I have ridden the 2017 Aprilia Factory but only in SPORTS mode as I did not have the bike for long and I did not want to fiddle about with the menu. I found that in 1st gear when filtering through traffic between 6-20mph the bike would shudder as if the clutch was dragging, but only after I had de-accelerated first. Pulling in the clutch lever and releasing seemed to help and the power was then smooth again. No problem pulling away from stop and then in 6-20mph, only on de-acceleration then moving again - I hope you can cover this area more fully in your future reviews, especially in all engine modes to see if less engine braking in TRACK and RACE modes will resolve the less than smooth travel at low revs.

Yeah it has a slight lash but tbh its doesnt bother you after awhile. I certainly wouldn't let it put me off buying one.

A friend of mine has a Tuono and he also complained about the low rev chop/jerkiness you describe. After a couple of nights of googling this issue he decided to get a upgraded ECU. If it is a race-ECU or just a stock ECU with different mapping is unknown but the low rev chop is gone. Another thing that went away was the engine braking so he is kind of undecided if its the right purchase or not. However, from this we can learn that it is not a enginge characteristic but a ECU-programming feature or bug. Software...

Good vid and looking fwd to further vids. One point the Tuono V4 has not been around since 2007, the Gen 2 V2 was only launched in very late 2005 and was in production until 2010, when the V4 was launched. The RSV4 was launched a little earlier in 2009.

I've noticed a few EFI bikes have a slight lag on the throttle, it is especially noticeable when I swap to a carburetor track day bike and notice the throttle response is almost instant in comparison.. Also some bikes keep changing map modes when you are in traffic or at slow speeds, it can become annoying. I dare say the after market ecu guys are making lots of money though fixing this mess.

I use Shoei GT-air uter shit for noise and SR1 Schubert that is race helmet also uter shit for noise. SR1 is lighter but not as much as carbon...So now i am in search for carbon with good isolation against noise and to be lightweight :)...will try to get X-lite to test on bike. 2019. MT10 or the Tuono? The super duke is out off the question becouse is sweden that bike is almost 10 times more expensive to insure than the two others.
@nikos95
@nikos95 6 жыл бұрын
Tuono is slightly racier and has a fair amount more power everywhere. MT10 will be cheaper to buy and maintain. Aprilias are mostly reliable but parts and service costs more. If you don't much care about the power or the uniqueness sit on both.
@lingenfelterzeeohhsix8154

My comment above yours addresses the question. I debated the exact same question , tuono Factory or MT10, where I live there's no Aprilia dealers within a thousand miles and form what I've read online , they aren't the most reliable and extremely expensive to fix in comparison to the top reliability and accessibility of Yamaha dealers. I had to have a Factory if going tuono becaue I hate the tail of the RR so for me I ended up shopping around and getting a new '17 FZ10 (MT10) for $8,250 LESS than a Factory Tuono. Nearly HALF the price! It is not a tuono for sure BUT is in the Supernaked class with the tuono and superduke, it's lightyears beyond the other Japanese base nakeds. I have always thought aprilias v4 is the greatest sound on earth but truthefully , decat the Crossplane 4 in the MT10 and it's a VERY similar sound! The popular KZbin motoVlogger "The Muscle Biker " bought mine a month ago, check out his videos and you'll see me and my bike he vlogs with now. He's an Aprilia guy and used to vlog with a RSV4 Factory SBK, gorgeous and full catless SC project system , greatest sound on earth! Case in point his RSV4 needed a valve job which was going to be SO expensive and no aprilia dealer within a 1,000 miles so he did it himself and botched it and not months later it's still out of state at a shop on hold. He bought my FZ10 and LOvES it! He also said what I've always thought, the way I had it (catless /y-pipe ) the crossplane 4 rivals the sound of the v4. Quite similar once decated. Important to note, the FZ10 is only down 15hp from the tuono. $500 for A simple reflash and y pipe and you will have more hp than the tuono for less money and have reliability and similar sound. The FZ10 has fully adjustable suspension , great electronic rider aids ; 4 stage traction control, ABS , 3 rider power /throttle modes , wheelie control, cruise control , LCD screen, delta box frame , brembo components , truly Supernaked parts ,..If it's brakes you love , put EBC pads on the MT10 and it's amazing , the suspension is fully adjustable and can be proffesinally set to what you need and want and with all of that costing pennies on the dollar compared to a tuono , you have true tuono performance at a lot less cost. For me $8,250 LESS! Everything pointed me to the R1 based crossplane FZ10 and I owned it for 2 years with NO problems , and of the 12 bikes I've owned, 11 being sport bikes from ducatis to the last of which was the epic crossplane 2015 R1 and I can truthefully say without a doubt, the FZ10 has been my most favorite bike I've owned! By far!!! In fact love it so much I'm getting another one which says a lot being a HUGE Tuono Factory Lover! Could easily buy one now but everything was perfect for me with the MT10 so going that route. Now IF you are in Europe, go MT10 SP, tuono Factory level top of the line equipment and parts with all the reliability of Yamaha! We don't have the SP here unfortunately . I will say , if I'm Europe and you have access to aprilia dealers close and IF they aren't as unreliable as most say they are and they are less expensive that here in the US, may be worth it t you to get a tuono, but every single thing pointed me to FZ10. Let's also note that those that say the tuono destroys the less powered mt10, it's assenine! Outperform , yes but by a fraction, I couldn't tell ANY difference in power between the two , 15 hp to a normal rider isn't terribly noticeable , and if it is, do the cheap reflash and now you have higher numbers than the tuono. The fact is, it takes professional riders to get everything out of these supernakeds that they can offer. Even an advanced rider can't reach the limit of these bikes on a track. They are insane and you will absolutely be blissfully happy with an MT10 , incan say the same about the tuono unless you have mechanical issues which is common. Just my personal experience as someone that was in your shoes . I preferred the Tuono Factory originally and ended up FZ10 and have never looked back! Good luck!

Great answer but many Thinks that the SP is not Worth the extra cash. You wont get it back when reselling either. Im quite tall so for Comfort the MT10 all day long. And the maintainence on the Ape is not that far from the MT10, atleast in Sweden. Its only the walve adjustment that makes it more expensive the other services are wery similar.

@@srtspeedy4983 So what did you pick? Selling 2017MT09 yesterday (10000miles on it) I am exactly in the same spot right now - deciding between MT10 and Tuono. I am leaning heavily towards Yamaha atm. It's cheaper to buy/maintain, there are some amazing aftermarket parts and I simply need a bike I know will always start and work.

@TheCannonRoar
@TheCannonRoar 7 жыл бұрын
I have a 2017 tuono with 1500 km on it and can manage about 200 km / 125 miles before fuel gauge starts flashing, which means about 3 liters are left in the tank (yes, the official specs say it's 4 liters which left me once with completely empty tank and 30 min walk to the nearest petrol station). That would result in 8.0 l/100km or about 30 mpg. The computer says 4.5 l/100km or 50 mpg - I would not trust it. Still, amazing bike, wouldn't change it for anything else, specs are only specs, what really counts is how fun it's to ride. And it's hell of a fun. The engine is thirsty but sounds intoxicating and works perfect

Yup, did get the factory version...and yes that is a pretty small seat for the pillion. Not sure how it compares to the one on the RR........not trying to challenge your point at all dude, just pointing out that here in "excited states" you do get a swappable pillion street with the Factory. Not at all sure about elsewhere in the world. I don't know how to post a photo to show you the size? In any case the entire point about the Tuono is NOT as a two up machine...it is as your excellent review pointed out a sporting ride pure and simple.

I'd say that it mostly needs a fuel gauge. 18.5 is the norm for these supernakeds, but shit having a light turn on when there's 4L left is just stupid. My old on-off from 2005 had a fuel light with a 5L reserve and could do 80km before refueling, I can only imagine this beast has about the same range as a human on foot when the light comes on, haha
