I don’t like the way the rim digs that far into the driver door

Question, why are the headrests removed in vehicles being tested, wouldn’t that help control dummy rebound during the crash?
@iihs-hldi2 жыл бұрын
The head restraints are removed to give our cameras a clear view of the airbag interaction. For this test, we're not concerned with the dummy's injury measures or movement by the time it's rebounded that far. We have a separate test that evaluates head restraints for whiplash protection.

I’ve always wondered why also, but you only need the head rest in a rear collision

Someone ran the red light and hit me from the passenger side (t-bone) causing me to flip three times. Blessed to be here. Definitely did its job 🙏🏾💯 only had dislocated my shoulder. Thank God got seatbelts

What Why Accept?
@iihs-hldi2 жыл бұрын
The 2017 Impala earned two downgrades: an acceptable strucutral rating and acceptable restraints rating. Combined, the overall rating was lowered to acceptable. That rating applies to 2015-20 models.

@@iihs-hldi Your ratings were not consistent. Why the 2016-2017 Sonata got a "good rating" when it had two acceptables with one in structure and one in lower leg/foot injury.
@legioner9 Жыл бұрын
@@passion830217 Because the Sonata has a good restraint rating. And I guess the Sonata got an acceptable in lower leg/foot exactly due to the acceptable structure rating. That still qualifies it for a Good rating I suppose.

Drove one of these today thought it was a pretty decent car now that I see this I’ll stick with my 2007 accord that protects more

You live in a world of pain if the only reason for buying a car is its safety rating.
@23ginger Жыл бұрын
@@legioner9 the key features I look for in a car when I purchase one are. 1, reliability will this car break down a lot is it going to cost me a lot if it does break down. 2, is this car safe if I happen to get into a major collision (yes I will pass up a car if it receives poor crash ratings especially front end crashes). 3 does the car hold its value which most Toyotas and Hondas will even the older ones. I drive close to 70,000 miles per year so safety and reliability are important as fender benders which happen often in cities or major crashes which I’ve been lucky to avoid having I’ve came to close but had luck on my side . You never know if you’re going to get into a collision. You can’t avoid all collisions either. I was going to purchase a 2012 Toyota Camry but after seeing a family member get hurt in there’s in a crash and the poor ratings it got I decided against buying it for that very reason.

I am thinking the same thing. It looked so good. They rated the 2016-2017 Sonata "good rating" when it had two acceptables with one in structure and one in lower leg/foot injury, so it was unfair to give the Impala only an "acceptable".
@haidengameplays7 ай бұрын
It's acceptable on the lower leg foot
@dannyphantom1214 ай бұрын
@@passion830217 it looked like the dummy’s head slipped off the airbag.

It did worse than the 2010. That's blasphemous on GM's part.

I don't consider this acceptable. Shows how badly it takes a crash and literally shatters. I have 2007 chevy impala and its hit deer twice with only minor dents. This shows the new model would need everything replaced if it took those hit
@michaelscott5284 Жыл бұрын
A deer is not a steel wall. Also a car is supposed to "shatter" when they crash, it acts like a big cushion and absorbs the impact of the crash. If it didn't crush you would probably die from the force.
@sparrowhawk5673 Жыл бұрын
@@michaelscott5284 I've been in hwy accident with even a semi and because the car was the one that did Not shatter upon impact was I able to survive. Newer cars crashing against the older more soild vechicals, 1983 cadillac, wouldn't stand a chance.

@@ramiere1412 😄 you go by statistics I go by life experience. Where even a 1997 caravan was I able to survive a hwy hit with a semi truck going the opposite direction. With this set up all the air bubbles in the world wouldn't help with a outer shell so soft.
