I tried to remove mine on a 201o explorer. I could not even get my hands inbetween to remove the bolts. I used a suction pump to remove the fluid at 25K miles It was still clean and yellow. My fluid level was also low when the fill plug was removed. I will repeat in 5K mikes. Thanks

just drop the exhaust, its a few hangers and makes it so much easier and takes a few minutes

I just replaced the rear differential fluid on 2017 Explorer. It has 250,000 km on it. Surprisingly, when I wanted to withdraw a sample of the old fluid with a syringe, nothing came out. Even the tip of the hose showed no liquid. I thought it was too low, but after using the suction device, the fluid came out. In a rather small amount. What do you think ?

How did you find the condition of the fluid? Does the differential axle rotate constantly or does it stop moving at speed 40 km?

The Fluid looked fine. The main problem that I see is most Vehicles Differential Oil is low . That is due to not checking behind the Manufacturer/Dealership. As long as the Vehicle is moving. The Differential is constantly working.

@@dairleautoclassicrestorati6892 It's the only video I've seen on KZbin that talks about replacing the rear differential axle fluid for a generation Ford Explorer from 2011 to 2019. Most of the videos talk about adding only without replacing. Is there really no drain plug?

hello, I have the same Ford as you and the same year. question: someone cut the wire that goes to the rear-view mirror that is inside the car and I see 5 wires of different colors and I bought a plug that has 18 wires of the same GREEN color (how do I connect 5 wires correctly in 18 wires

You may or may not have tried this. By it being a 2017. I would give the last (8) of the Vin # to my local Ford Dealer. And get that plug from Ford. I would think that Ford still provide that original plug connector.

No different than the ptu my wife’s xlt had a fill plug with no drain and my sport had a drain plug with no fill so I had to use a damn hose clamp on breather hose to fill the damn thing ford is by far one of the worst vehicles to service Stay away and buy a damn Toyota!!!

For real. Life time oil they claimed, so stupid. My 16 Ford explorer ptu has no fill hole and yup, have to use the breather line

Very nice, though what I will end up doing is just pumping the fluid out and refilling it. Your way is cleaner, but I’m looking to save time. I did they same with F150 front diff, so far all good
