I own a newer Duramax (not the newest version) and the location of the DEF fill is not an issue under the hood. I have been getting +5000miles per tank and it's so simple to pop the hood and fill up that I just don't get the complaint from these guys. On average it's gonna need filled up 2-3 times per year and can be topped off with each oil change while the hood is already up. Other than this non issue complaint great review TFLtruck

With all the added tech, egr def large incinerator styled exhaust systems lol. it would be cool if y'all got with some different 3rd party mechanics or engineers to do a break down and explain which of the big 3 have the best system for longevity without clogging up or breaking down with an explanation to why.

Surely the engines Torque output is restricted in the lower gears not to reduce wheel spin but to protect the transmission and drive components as low gearing increases torque. If the engine produces 900 lbs ft at 1700 rpm and the wheels are revolving 170 rpm the torque will be 9000 lbs ft applied to the wheels divided by the number of driven wheels.

To the guy that says GM got its knowledge from Saab regarding turbos, you might need to check your facts. GM messed w turbos 25 years or so before ford. 1962 for Chevy/Buick and I think 84 or so for the SVO mustang. Then GM came back with the Buick and Typhoon/syclone pickup. They trounced anything Ford had, and the trucks were only 6 cylinders.

Ya know. It always worries me when a new engine comes out on the market or when a engine is beefed up, because I know there is durability issues with engine at higher mileage over 200,000 miles. Personally it would be nice to here these manufactures put a durable test figure to make me feel better about the new or beefed up engines. My thinking is these new massive torque engines is that they may have break down issues in the near future. I love to watch these new trucks get down and dirty with engine torque. Good point what you do is detune the motor and destress it. My 6.0 psd is over 420000 no engine issues original head bolts. I use the superchips tuner.

I hate the def location and it boggles my mind why it's still there. It always gives me pause when driving around the worksite in my LML. So its an automatic negative for customer experience when I'm always worried about a stick pokeing a hole in it.. At least they offer a factory skid plate now. I really hope an Aftermarket solution will come out, easy enough to move the tank location. The fill spout I can deal with but the tank being where it is, is just stupid. The wax frame is a major downside, so when I buy them I just take it straight from the dealer to be undercoated.

Also I don't like when you drive A lot like I do you never know how low your DEF is. In the Ram it has a gauge which is convenient for me. But still that Denali is a good looking rig.

I have nothing against GM trucks and actually kind of like them, but as they pretty much admitted, Ford and Ram are designed for extreme work towing while GM trucks are designed more towards luxury with decent towing capabilities. I use trucks for work so if I had $70,000 to spend on a truck I would get a less than top of the line Powerstroke. I still like the Duramax though.

The diesel truck was much slower, but got better gas mpg under full load than the gas engine. However if you put both trucks on the test with identical weight trailers, and had the gas truck following the diesel, the results would be interesting. I have a feeling the gas truck would get better mpg then it did if all it had to do was keep up with the diesel truck. Considering the increase in diesel cost, I bet the cost per mile loaded isn't much at all.

Older semis are gonna take a bit to maintain, insure, be subject to DOT regulations... some of which you could get around with a pickup, but in my area, I could by a really nice house or 15 acres of good farm ground. So many other things that won't take the depreciation hit that truck will when you sign on the dotted line.

A full 5 more horsepower is mere an advertising number, power stroke beats torque. Its sad how much GMC has to advertise and come up with advertising numbers such as the 5 extra horsepower. Notice you see few Ford or Ram ads, they don't have to advertise to sell trucks, there just good enough as they are. Also GM's independent front suspension is not very tough in my opinion. Coil spring is a much better system. (for a truck) Ford also now has an aluminum body, which has allowed many needed upgrades to be done to the truck while not adding a lot of weight. Lets talk frames, ford and ram have e coated, paint sticks better, less rust, holds up fine. GM, not so much. Fully boxed yeah, but the 2017 ford super duty has that covered. Id drive a ford xl over the truck featured in this video.
