You can COMPLETELY defeat stability control. 1) Turn on car 2) parking brake off and press on the foot brake 3)press TC button ON AND THEN OFF 4) engage parking brake and release foot brake 5) press TC button ON AND OFF 6) KEEP PARKING BRAKE ON and press the foot brake 7) press TC button ON and OFF This works on all 10th Gen Civics (Type R and Si too) You should then get the TC light solid on, and the VSA light flashing in your instrument cluster, it does will reset when you turn off the car.

Everything Carlos didn't like you can fix you can turn off the stability control all the way just have to do so some simple steps and when you re flash the ecu the rev hang is damn near gone and you get about 30-40 more whp and ft lbs of torque plus more boooost! For the sound of the L15 cheap way would be delete the muffler and add an intake and a charge pipe

Love the SI, I own one that I'm modding. Honda is the best for cheap speed, and good quality. The new SIs are making amazing gains with bolt ons / tunes, and are also a better dd than the Type R. *I owned a 2017 Type R and traded it in for a 2018 Golf R manual transmission* My stock 1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 walked both, lol...with the DSG the Golf R beats the VR-4, I hate automatics though. Long live the SI!!! I'm wondering why it ran such bad times in this video though.

It is really quiet and that's the main thing I dislike about my SI. Otherwise its a very grippy and nimble car.
@timmybridges56416 жыл бұрын
I absolutely love my SI sedan which I purchased 12/28/17. It is indeed not a straightline muscle car, but it handles almost as well as a Vette (.97 skidpad). I will probably eventually flash the ecu for more power, but this is a really enjoyable car to drive. Some of the gripes this guy made are legitimate, but it cannot be overstated the amount of quality goodness you get in this SI for the money. You simply cannot find a car this good in this price range.
@goldstandardgrooms21566 жыл бұрын
Timmy Bridges thank you for not being a delusional fanboi. I think this car is good at what its supposed to do - be a fun, quick comfortable dd thats also good on gas, in tradition of all SI's. I recently test drove an SI for the hell of it, and couldn't help but compare it to the 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T I had years ago (when it was stock)...Both are fwd and turbo. My 99 eclipse felt faster in a straight line (which professional test numbers seem to back up, but the si is only .1 or .2 slower than the 2g eclipse turbo) but didnt handle as well and wasn't near as comfortable, and also didnt get near as good of gas mileage. Also, the 17 SI was more fun to drive than my gst. Its been years since i drove that eclipse gst, or any eclipse for that matter, but its nice that the civic si is on the market to fill the space that a 2g eclipse would fill if it was still made. Are there other cars in the price range that are faster? Yeah. But you can get an SI for really cheap, and if you don't option it out too much, its probably the fastest and best handling car for the money. I have a friend with a 2017 fk8 civic type r, which isn't a straight line monster either to be honest - I pulled him pretty hard in my bone stock 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 from a dig and a roll, and at the strip he ran a 13.83@102mph vs my 13.31@105mph. Despite that, his fk8 handles *amazingly* and is easily the best FWD handling car on earth. Its a track monster right out of the box - my friend likes it as much as his beloved Lotus Elise S/C, and imo the FK8 handles just as well as the Elise (seriously!). Both the 2017 FK8 Type R and 2017 Civic Type R are cool cars. I do get why people think the SI is useless, but it's for the Honda enthusiast that wants a 'softer' type r, and a fun daily driver.
@MrGrandetaco7076 жыл бұрын
Timmy Bridges it only gets .97g on the skidpad with the optional Summer tires which are super sticky which is why it can pull that number but with the stock all seasons it goes down to .88g skidpad
@300zxttswap66 жыл бұрын
Timmy Bridges The SI is definitely a good car for the price, but it depends what you're looking for. Its biggest upside is its gas mileage and handling. I test drove one. Personally, i find it to be more boring than previous models, though it 'felt' faster. Honestly a stock 2g Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T or especially GS-X would murder this car in a straight line, as would a stock n/a Z32 300ZX (and the Z32 would be more fun in corners, even if the SI runs better skidpad #s) There's the Focus ST and GTI, both of which are faster. The GTI is somewhat boring, but has the luxury interior that makes the SI look downright old. The Focus ST is much more engaging to drive imo. Id rather have a new accord with a manual transmission and the 2.0t engine if i was keeping it stock, those are *faster* than this SI, and the 10-speed auto equipped 2.0t accord sport runs extremely close numbers to the fk8 type r (0 to 60 in 5.5, 1/4 in 14.1@102, car and driver), which runs 0 to 60 in 5.2 and the 1/4m in 13.9@104 (car and driver)...thats only 2mph slower and .2s off thr FK8, and those numbers for the FK8 are the most realistic:kzbin.info/www/bejne/r2eyhmeEi9aib7M - this is what an average driver can expect. Of course, now Hondata is making tunes, and im sure many people will be doing those tunes. Apparently, according to a fanboy on this page, a bolt on / tune / tires / e85 2017 SI will run high 11s, i haven't seen proof, but it's beleivable. Its also very stupid considering you could get a used 2g Eclipse GST/GSX and spend under $700 and run 10s...and the total cost would be well under the price of the cheapest SI

As a owner of this car I gotta say yeah its not as fast as a Focus ST, but its handling is unmatched compared to the Focus ST which I drove a couple times. Plus yeah 200hp and 200 tq isn't much compared to what like 250 hp and 270 tq in the ST , but once you see your getting 35 mpg in the city and over 40 mpg highway I think its a good trade off plus the finish is 100x better than what Ford offers and less expensive than what ford offers got mine for 24k tax with everything compared to like 27k for the ST, but really the way I look at it is that the Si is a more practical Fiesta ST with better build quality. Drove Fiesta ST to which yeah is a little cheaper not much more though, but it's really small and Sync still sucks so thats just my two cents. Not sure about VW, except that its the most expensive and a little slower than the ST and probably built better then the other two as well.

This car should have been tuned better by Honda for performance. It is clear they skewed this car to better fuel economy than performance, with rev hang and cut timing. That is not what people buy the Si for. Hondata tunes clearly show this car has better potential. You shouldn't have to risk your warranty with a tune to make this engine the way it should have been from the start.

Funny thing is a none SI civic hatchback with cvt and ktuner set to 21 psi will do 0-60 in under 6 seconds. Most runs I've done we're between 5.8 and 6 seconds on flat level ground at 20 feet about sea level. I did get a 5.6 second time but that was slightly down hill. Quarter miles times in the mid 14s. Not bad for a cvt. The cvt is actually much better with he tune. It's actually kinda bearable. I'd still perfer a dule clutch tho.

Quite decent for a mild yet sporty front driver. Would like to be able to defeat the traction control, but I'm sure tuners will remedy it if they havent already yet. For reference, I believe the Focus ST runs a 14.6ish in the 1/4 mile. No doubt the LSD in this Civic helps it dig out of the hole to keep that gap relatively close.
@skifree06 жыл бұрын
There is a way to disable it without tuning. It's just not officially documented and convoluted. Though I would probably get an off the shelf flash unit to handle the rev-hang. It is pretty bad
@ALMX5DP6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but that defeat sounds more like an internal diagnostic mode than a actual, usable method to disable TC/VSC. It would get pretty frustrating to need to do that every time the inclination to hoon hit.

Alan Bowers The gap isn’t even close. As a Focus ST owner (ST3) The seats, leather heated and heavily bolstered Recaro’s steering response: 1.8 turns lock to lock! It goes on and on. As a sports car the Focus will mop up the Si but as an all around car I think the Honda is a much better car. BUT the Honda is a new design. The MK3 Ford is from 2012. I pity you if you bought a civic si. I have respect for the type r, i love driving my friends, it handles amazingly and is a track monster, but runs high 13s all day stock and is mid 5s to 60 vs the VR4s 4.8s to 60 and mid low 13s to 60mph...big difference there. Get over it. The fk8 is the slowest one against the focus rs, sti and golf r. Only the sti would get pulled on on the highway, and even then not by much. Also, mod the sti and the fk8 is eating shit on the track and in a straight line. I raced my friends, i have plenty of seat time in a 2017 ctr. Accelerating is not its strong point, handling is. Youre comment is embarassing all fk8 owners. The 2017 / 2018 civic si is complete shit, and needs tons of money in mods to go fast, and it still will get gapped off a dig, hence why alllll fk8 street racers go from a roll. Sergio Aguirre i thought you were referencing a previous post i made about my car, sorry. I raced my friends fk8 and made a post on a different page. stock fk8s don't run 108 trap speeds, lmao - you're referencing car and driver, that was a PRE PRODUCTION model. Check out the results of the production model: www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/2017-ford-focus-rs-vs-2017-honda-civic-type-r-comparison-test-final-scoring-performance-data-and-complete-specs-page-4 Not impressive. This is what fk8s do stock. Read the article, c/d even says the previous car they tested was 'packing more ponies'. Check out the in gear acceleration times as well, proving the RS gapped the type r in rolls as well.

Sergio Aguirre I own the fk8 seconalled out raced. I've known him for years. I rarely comment on KZbin, i use it for music. This is the second time I've had to verify our race and talk about the fk8. His 96 VR4 is faster than my ctr, dig or roll. We raced many times. And thats about all the VR4 beats the type r in - acceleration. This car is for the TRACK! Ive owned plenty of nice cars, I'm a huge Honda fan. I still own my 94 NSX, had an eg hatch that ran 11s, a dc2 Integra type r, i now own a 97 lotus esprit v8 tt, and lotus elise sc for track duty. Imo, the fk8 handles as well as my Elise. I was ecstatic to hear about the fk8 release, and got my 2017 fk8 for $37.5k out the door, no payments. Best purchase I've ever made. Can't wait to hit the track again. Can't stop driving it. The best Honda since the NSX. However, it is not meant for the drag strip, no type r's are. They're meant for track duty! Is the fk8 slow? No. Is it fast? No. It does not run 108mph traps stock, i talked to Honda, they released some 'hot' cars to the press to generate a buzz...who can blame them? Take a look at all the times that fk8s have run after those 'hot' cars were tested...mid 5s to 60mph, high 13s with low 100mph traps. I ran a 102mph trap with a perfect launch. My other friend with a stock fk8 ran a 14.12@100mph in his. They're not drag cars. No car with fwd is meant to be a quarter mile star. As far as mods, ill leave that to the older Honda's like the eg hatches. This car has more than enough power stock. I cross shopped with the focus rs and golf r, both were faster in a straight line- and both would get wasted in the corners.

Sergio Aguirre LMAO!!! You are a terrible fanboi! I spend all my free time on the street or the strip, we've been seeing more and more fk8s. They're much slower than the Golf R, STI and Focus RS - those 3 are all in the 13s @ the strip, i haven't seen an fk8 break a 14 yet! We have two fk8s in our crew right now. We've done plenty of races. We also have a dude with a stock Golf R dsg and one with a modded Focus RS (ill leave the RS out of this). The Golf R gaps the Type R on the highway, at any speed...even 100mph rolls, and im talking by like 3 cars! Both fk8 owners are modding theirs soon, so we'll see after, but stock they fail to impress. Lol @ the VR4 thing- we have a ton of VR4s here. My boys *bone stock* 98 3000GT VR4 ran a 13.09@107mph, it has 120k miles on it - VR4s are *beastly*, no fk8 could touch one. Both fk8 owners ran low 14s at the strip, and didn't want a peice of any of the VR4s in our crew. I drive a 95 Nissan 300ZX TT (lighter n/a body with a tt engine swap), bpu upgrades and weight reduction, last dyno was 435@whp and 423@wlbtq...i ran the 2018 fk8 for fun from a 80 roll (he said it was a good speed for him), i pulled foot ball field lengths. I saw the same fk8 get spanked by a stock mazdaspeed 3. Gtfo dude. All our cars are modded in our crew, and no one would want a 2017 civic si, that's just an awful platform - even modded it wouldn't catch traction til like 3rd, everything would be bus lengths ahead. Those cars are shit. We have some sick eg hatches and older si's though - the new turbo si is just a godawful car.

Sergio Aguirre no response?????? I think you got shut the fuck down, even some other random dude jumped in on your response. I want to say, i love how my friends 2017 FK8 drives, and i will admit that its *overall* an EXTREMELY impressive package...but straight line speed is probably its weakest point. Stock to stock, my 96 3000GT VR4 is faster by quite a bit (dig and roll, i brake boost on rolls), and i think is more comfortable to drive - but the fk8 beats it in every other performance category, handling, skidpad, slalom, etc. Stop being a fanboi. I hope you learned your lesson. The 13.5@108mph from c/d was a fluke, and everyone knows it. *Every* other test theyve done, for that matter any test that anyone has done with the fk8, has shown *0 to 60 in 5.2 to 6s and the quarter mile in high 13s to low 14s* Please, we all hate people like you that cant see truth when it's in front of their face. With mods, im sure the fk8 / si are fast, ALL Honda's mod well, its literally their claim to fame - anyone can get an eg hatch and have it run 11s quick...but you're WRONG if you think a stock fk8 beats the Focus RS or Golf R in acceleration - from a dig the fk8 gets wasted, and the only real way to measure how fast a car is is from a dig; you don't see rolling starts at the drag strip, do you? Roll races are impossible to do fairly, you'd have to do a 10mph,20moh,30mph, 1st gear, 2nd gear, 3rd gear etc roll to see. Too many variables on a roll....*and even off a roll the fk8 gets gapped by the Focus RS and Golf R, especially the golf, as well as a stock Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4, as well for that matter* Please, get off the stupid shit and see that the fk8 is for the track, NOT the strip!

SI use to stand for sport injected, now it means SLOW INSPIRED or slow idiot or slow impression... what does si stand for to you???
