CycleCruza im dissapointed in you. how do u find the honda civic of motorcycles cool? bland, no soul, small gas tank. it will depreciate so fast. spend it on a real cruiser like a vulcan or any yamaha 950. even the shadow lines are way more attractive its a shame they didnt work on that 750 engine insread.

I have to agree with you. I sat on one last week, the 300. I am a 6 foot tall kinda fat guy, and the seating position was a nice cross between cruiser and standard. I would love to see you be able to review this one.

On the contrary. The old Rebel was one of the best bikes around - or would be if it had a larger engine. I was super-excited when I heard Honda was going to make a Rebel 500, since I've been longing for 'a Rebel with a larger engine' - in those exact words - for seven years. But they lied. This is still a nice bike, but very disappointing with its super-uncomfortable (and inexplicable) long reach and big-dick exhaust pipe.

I'll never understand why manufacturers take a square digital display and force it into a circular gauge and add those black outs on either side. Just create a circular display, or house it in a rectangular gauge

Wow, that would be the best beginner bike ever. I still remember the old Honda Rebels. I remember the first time i saw one. I wanted one so bad. But after i rode a bit, I realized the 200 and 400 was to small for me. I started out on a 650cc and never wanted anything smaller then that.

That bike looks great! Good to see Honda beefing up the Rebel a little bit and bringing it into 2017. It's like a smaller Yamaha Bolt, and that's a compliment because Bolts are great bikes. I'm happy to see some diversification of entry-level bikes or bikes for people who just want to look cool putting around town. You're wasting cc's on a 1500 if all you're doing is hopping from stoplight to stoplight. Thanks for the review!

As the proud owner of two 85 shadows, an 1100 and a 500 I honestly say the 500 has certainly been my favorite. Easy to push when out of gas, park, mod, etc. Anyway, can't help but feel enthusiastic about these bikes. My 500 has always been super reliable and just plain fun and I imagine many great adventures are underway.

Honda could go back to its roots. The vintage CB 350, CB 400, and CB 500 were cool designs. This platform is perfect for a standard riding position bike. Just tweak the design a bit and call it the "Vintage CB" or "Heritage CB" line-up?!

Personally I think it looks good but looks are subjective. There's too much hate for smaller engines though. It's fun to rip small engines through the gears especially if you commute everyday on a bike.

Ride-along camera position was way too low - gave a great view of the tank. No performance mention on the highways except what could be minimally seen. Capable speeds? Acceleration? Ride height? Tall friendly? Comparisons? The only impressions I got was appearance and the top of the fuel tank.

The bigger dude from Revzilla, Lenny (?), is 275 pounds and took the Rebel 300 easily up to highway speed. I'd say the 500 is probably highway worthy as far as performance goes.

Having own larger bikes the 500cc will do 90% of everything a person needs. I've done several trips loaded with 70 Lbs of camping gear over Two thousand miles without any problem. I love my cb500f but have considered a 650cc- 700cc that would be the most cc's I would need unless I thought I needed to pull a small trailer,which I fill no need to !
@davidretired5137
@davidretired5137 7 жыл бұрын
I retract myself, the valve adjustment is done at 16k miles not 8k. It's a fantastic motor. The 2013 cbr500r had to have the valves checked at 600 miles during the first service. It was revised for 2014. The engine works great it's not gutless, not a super Sportbike but it does a great job. My bike has over 2k miles and the valves do make noise.

@Cowboydjrobot
@Cowboydjrobot 7 жыл бұрын
Jimmy Gonzalez it's tough comparison. There's nothing wrong with the 883 but it's 1970s technology so it touch to justify sticker price. It's a heavy bike and you don't get much power considering it's a 883cc motor. Harleys are like beats by dre or apple computers, you pay a big premium for the name.
@zhukie
@zhukie 7 жыл бұрын
And big money for repairs too, if you want stock Harley parts.
@decidiousrex
@decidiousrex 7 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't get the 883, personally. Buying a Harley aimed at young, economical riders is like buying Tiffany and Co made for teenagers. It's just not their target market and the product you get isn't going to reflect the same standards and quality you would expect for the brand name (and, accordingly, the price). If you want a Harley, but can't afford a decent one, buy a Honda and save until you have enough.

Cant find any answers to these concerns I have about the Rebel 500, so its worth a shot on youtube! I only weigh 140lbs if that helps. 1) If cruising at 75mph for a distance, could it handle it without revving to an insane level? Also would it be terrible for this engine to cruise at 75 or more? Lastly, is there any pickup left at that speed? 2) With no tachometer, how is one supposed to "watch the revs," when breaking it in for the first thousand miles? (I know that theres a specific break in period for any engine, often requiring to keep it at specific revs). 3) Is it possible to install an aftermarket tachometer on it? 4) Honda doesn't say if the bike has traction control, does it? (preferably not wanting it).

I wish someone would show REAL WORLD REAL TIME..uphill interstate highway runs of the 2017 or newer rebel 300 with a 200+ pound rider on it to show whether it truly does or doesn't struggle to maintain 60mph as the top speed is 95 per every site I've checked out. Also am interested in that if the rebel 300 shares the same bad feeling of " being bucked during turns" given the lighter 40 ish pounds of weight versus the rebel 500. I don't want the sub 70 ish mpg rebel 500 and the extra 40 ish pounds to deal with. I'm thinking about the 2018 Ninja 400 so far, but love the rider stance of the rebel.

I've liked your description about the bike however recording video not good. You should've take that camera on your helmet to take perfect recording. So far so good....

My main complaint with newer motorcycles is the LCD displays. Give me analog instruments any day of the week.

I 🖒like it !!! I ride a HD, but I also have a 1997 Honda Rebel. I ride my Honda Rebel when my HD is acting up. It kind of looks like a HD V-Rod. The gas tank is cool, bit it could be a little bigger. The position of the tank is good though. All in all, ✔ it's a cool looking motorcycle.

For future reviews, place the camera higher up. I don't want to look at the tank for 3 minutes while you talk. Cheers.

How is it for casual highway (moderate/long distance) driving? My 250 tops out @ like 65 to low 70's depending on wind. How does the 500 fair on highway max speed? Also, is the headlight/turn/break lights halogen or LED?
