Honda Rebel CMX500 Review! Could This Be The Best Small Capacity Cruiser Motorbike?

In this video I ride and review the 2022 Honda Rebel 500, this bike has to be one of the best looking entry level cruisers on the market. I want to find out whether this would be a good first bike especially for A2 license holders.
I talk about the Parallel Twin Engine, Brakes, Suspension, Handling, Acceleration. And tell you exactly what to expect before you decide on whether this is the motorcycle for you! Is it a better choice than the Harley-Davidson Iron 883?

I thought I had ridden my last bike when I sold my Triumph, but a couple of months ago I bought a 2017 Rebel. My prostate cancer has returned, and with my spine and hip getting occasional pain, I needed something low and light. So far, the Rebel is fantastic around the suburbs and short rides through the hills. It seems there are a few pretentious riders who look down on other bikes. But as the wise man said, the best bike is the one you enjoy riding. Edit. The bike came with a different tail light and indicators, upgraded seat and Diablo twin pipe. But for me, the one mod that I like best is the engine fairing. It fills in the gap between the motor and the front wheel.

I've had a 2017 rebel 500 since it was first released. Though i am for sure ready for a bigger/more powerful bike and have been for a while it just hasn't been that attractive to me financially since i still have no desire whatsoever to sell the rebel. I did a cross country trip from Vic to Qld in Aus on it. 8 hrs a day and it was fine for comfort for me at 5.11. Think you hit the nail on the head of it being a perfect allrounder for anyone who loves the style and is newly into bikes. It's not that quick but it is punchy enough that it hasn't gotten boring either. I have a short vid of a spirited run thru the local hills if anyone is interested in seeing how it goes in the twisties.

I’m a new rider and have only ridden the bike for a week. It is a very forgiving bike that feels more at home in corners than it does in the straights. It’s a cruiser behaving like a naked bike. It’s bad at cruising but it’s good at having fun.

i am in the U.S. i have the 2019 with orange tank. added a GP exhaust, the stock was just too quiet. that exhaust sounds really good for stock. being 67 years old at 135 lbs the Rebel is just right, i can flat foot easily, i have had it up to 85 mph and that's fast enough for me. i did see your first review, that, and mine are really good looking bikes. yup good review, and i love mine. be safe.

My 5ft ( 154cm) Thai secretary rides a Honda Rebel 500 and it is about the only "big bike" that she can put her feet on the ground. Rev counter is not important as one generally doesn't thrash the Honda Rebel 500.

Good "looking" bike. Adding a back rack seems like an afterthought to make it somewhat practical. Rev counters are nice to look at but rev limiters seem to be replacing them, unfortunately . (A microchip is cheaper) Seating position looks unlike a typical cruiser. Not sure it would be comfortable on long cruise. A niche bike for sure. The realities of MSRP and resale prices has pointed my attention to this bike as a first bike. Honestly just seeing a video of it on this channel is an endorsement in my mind. Reminds me more of an Indian Scout than a Sportster, and I’d trust Honda a hell of a lot more than Indian.

Like you say, you can’t go wrong with a Honda. I’m not usually a fan of cruisers but I really like the look of the Rebel. It’s good to see manufacturers producing cool-looking bikes for A2 License holders. Anything to encourage a new generation onto the joy of two wheels. Video quality is excellent BTW.

I do not think the Honda Rebel 1100 is worth the extra money over the Rebel 500. The Honda Rebel 500 is better looking because the 1100 engine with all the wires and hoses looks messy. Both twins, both reach 100 mph and the Rebel 500 doesn't have all the electronic driving aid gizmos so going to be more reliable.

My wife has been riding a year and just ordered this bike and is looking forward to getting it. A rev counter would be a nice addition but I think for someone learning without it, they'll learn by ear (good practice) when to change and get a good feel for learning the power curve of the engine. Id love to see Honda out this engine into a retro model that would be cool. Great reviews as always chaps keep em' coming👌👊

Great video. The Honda Rebel 500 looks excellent. I live in Taiwan . I was keen to buy the Royal Enfield Meteor 350. Still am. However RE doesn't export to Taiwan , whereas Honda , of course , does. The price of the Honda Rebel is pretty reasonable here, so I may well buy this Honda . Many thanks ! I always enjoy your reviews and dream of owning a big Harley, BMW, Triumph or RE. one day. I'll settle for this Honda though I think ! Keep up the great videos guys !

As a teenager I almost bought this bike, price tag was $2,500 U.S. Dollars. I saved up some substantial quid and got me a Fat Boy instead, I do not regret it at all. This is a nice bike, I just don't like the radiator sticking out like a Model T would. Engine is strong and they run forever, but a bigger one is needed in the Southern California area. Hopefully you can review the 1100. Great review, mate.

Not being rude, the rebel looks odd in person. Enfield will be launching the 650 cruiser soon, I think you should wait for it.. bit more expensive then Interceptor but the same power train 47bhp, 52NM...but I am pretty sure it will still be much cheaper than Rebel

This has been my dream bike since it was announced back in 2017 and I've been blessed enough to get one this year It's been a lot of fun so far It's and excellent bike for the city Great for splitting Great power and speed And an amazing fuel performance I don't even miss my old Sportster 1200, since this bike can keep up just fine on the highway and doesn't get ridiculously hot I don't really see myself getting the 1100 since I mainly ride in the city Really liked your review man! I've had mine since december 2020. I'm 5'6 and I can flat foot it easily and I've seen shorter people on this bike and they can handle it pretty well. It's common among beginners and female riders because of how low it is and how easy it is to ride. It is pretty good for city riding as well.
