I prefer the last generation look much more. This is very nice but I love the more sculpted design of my 2014 Elantra. I still get complements on how sharp it looks. I think the new design has lost some of the sporty look to it. Still a great car though.

Hyundai does things right. They don't take their smaller cars lightly. This car is stacked with features. My fiance and I bought a 2016 Sonata Eco few months back. Well worth the buy. Has more features than any luxury car under 35k. We only paid 22k. Value and price should be more important than name brand.

@TaofikiGafar
@TaofikiGafar 9 жыл бұрын
Thanh Nguyen Right idk the point either. Only thing I do get is other brands lime Honda and Toyota hold more pre-sale value. The thing is these stats aren't objective they are subjective. Ppl assume Hondas and Toyotas are the point reliable cars on the road like we are still in the 1990s. Technology can change but perspective and brand value is even harder. Perception of longevity is the only reason the "hold" more value not fact

+Taofiki Gafar I got mine Elantra brand new for 15k plus tax...what other brand can offer... Value and reliability is thing that exception Hyundai offer... They made the right to introduce G90....they are on the right way I don't think Honda and Toyota are bad...in fact, they are good company.... but Hyundai prove that beyond Brand...there is something to consider.

Thanh Nguyen Hyundai is awful. Plus if you live in North America they aren't a respected brand. Pretty pointless of buying it brand new. a slighy less then 1 year used one will cost 65% of what it cost new.

Love where Hyundai is, and where they're going. My only complaint is that the manual transmissions are restricted to base models. If they made the top of the line trim in a manual with or without that new 1.4t, I'd be a buyer for sure. I'll stick to my 2013 Jetta for now.

I just hope to God they have done something with the suspension. The suspension on the previous generation is smooth enough on good pavement and is actually pretty nimble in the corners, but rough road surfaces are like driving through a mine field, sending the car skittering left and right, and going over a speed bump is like driving off a curb. It's horrible!
@oldtwins
@oldtwins 9 жыл бұрын

+LocustDubstep And 155 lb-ft of torque at 1,400 rpm is a lot of power down low, especially for a small sedan. I honestly don't think you know anything about driving.
@thatblackfb6
@thatblackfb6 9 жыл бұрын
+Larry Yes because a turbo smaller than my fist doesn't take long to spool. 155 ft/lbs will feel quick up until about 3 2500rpm and then it'll die, as is what happens with small displacement turbo motors. Plus this car isn't even available in a manual so there's no way you'll ever get to play around with the boost at all. I know plenty about driving thank you, I do it for a living so I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about.
@larry8065
@larry8065 9 жыл бұрын
+LocustDubstep So you're admitting you're wrong and making it clear how clueless you are. Most people don't spend a majority of their time above 3,000 rpm when around town, and even less time when you have full torque at half that rpm. Besides that, I'm more than certain this car still packs plenty of grunt throughout the mid range, which is what we see with virtually all modern variable turbocharged engines, even in the more affordable ones.

@IKhanNot
@IKhanNot 9 жыл бұрын
+Nik Brudar Going to extremes won't get your point across unless your sole intention was to come off sounding like an ass. A car can have 200HP and similar torque numbers and still be powerful but efficient. The Hellcat is a special type of car that's meant to be wild and out of control and not meant for everyday commuting. This engine in this Hyundai is pathetic and in reality won't give the supposed efficiency. There was a huge lawsuit files against Hyundai because drivers were getting nowhere near the supposed fuel economy Hyundai and the bullshit EPA claimed.
@nikb6528
@nikb6528 9 жыл бұрын
Djonkie Bonk true, but 144lb/ft of torque will move thiscar fairly fine, and the commenter was the one who started belittling this car over nothing. Mind you, your American cars weigh about as much as the moon so 150lb/ft barely moves them.

This video is suppose to be showing me how to set the clock in my "new" Hyundai. However, it initially was showing me how to set clocks in 2016 vehicles. This is 2017. I have had a 2017 since October 2016. Hyundai does seem to fall behind a bit. For example they sent me a free oil change and car wash coupon. I make the appointment and they no longer do free car washes. Well, I didn't send me a coupon - they did. They need to get smarter with their promotions. I wouldn't care if they didn't offer it, but to send it to me and then take it away - bad business folks.

so comparing this to the all new civic , the civic is more powerful 174hp vs 147 , more fuel efficent 34 ampg vs 33 aveage mpg , the civic have a better more spacious cabin and a better chassis and more fun but the elantra is a bit cheaper
@oldtwins
@oldtwins 9 жыл бұрын
+seif salman In fairness, the Hyundai will be much less costly on the used car lots a year from now. Look into picking one up if you need a cheap POS disposable car to rack miles on. Likewise, pay more for the Honda but it will hold its value much better so get that one new.
@jrs9264

as a previous poster stated, this car has a cheap torsion beam rear suspension, without multi-link and rear anti- sway bar. it bunny hops over bumps and on curves. already, recalls are being issued because malfunctioning of esc sensors can cause loss of vehicle control. the esc is no replacement for the rear sway bar. civic, jetta, scion im, passat , and elantra prior to 2011 have i.r.s. with sway bar. focus, cruze, sentra , mazda 3 use multi-link and sway bar with rear beam setups. unwarranted, penny-pinching cheapness by hyundai. Shame !

+Brian Bautista i ended up with the elantra gt/i30, which was designed in europe. it uses a v- beam rear suspension, combination of beam and multi-link. i added a full size spare to replace the donut spare it comes with. the gdi engine is better than the turbo veloster. just use full synthetic oil .

Outgoing model had an optional 173hp engine. Why would you make the "all-new" choices less powerful?! A turbo 4cyl with only 128hp is not great. Look how much power other automakers get from 4cyl turbos...Ford, Fiat, Nissan, Chevy,etc. Heck, a Chevy Sonic turbo sits at 140hp and that is only okay because that car weighs nothing.
@oldtwins
@oldtwins 9 жыл бұрын
+TheBluehornz01 It is interesting Hyundai went this route when they have more experience in economy engine turbocharging than Honda does. They could have made a killer engine to rival the 1.5t the Civic will be utilizing. Not sure what happened there. Maybe they are interested in targeting fleet sales where rock bottom low price and MPG are the top concerns.
@TheBluehornz01

Quite possible. I like the look of the out-going model & I like this new one. I know it's not a huge car, but at 150hp I think I would look elsewhere...assuming MPGs were not my main driving factor.

Those power numbers are wimpy for a direct injected turbo. FCA making 160hp and 184lb-ft from a 1.4 without direct injection and all the reliability drawbacks that come with DI. Also... America hates dual-clutch transmissions, why did they opt for that? The only impressive feature on this newer version is the interior. It looks 10x better than the old car.

It's disappointing Hyundai is moving away from its original styling. When I first saw the 2017 Elantra, I thought it was a Mazda... Hyundais are still the best value for the money when compared to Toyota, Honda, Nissan and Mazda. Quality is now comparable, too...
