The check engine light will flash when the engine control module detects a catalytic converter damaging misfire occur. Because this is a significant emissions component that is expensive to replace, the manufacture will do all that they can to alert the driver not to continue driving the vehicle does it will flash the MIL or manufacture indicator lamp/check engine light.

It’s not a simple tune up. We had the same issue with this 2017 Santa Fe 2.4 and we spent $3k dollars for the fix just to turn around a month later with the same issue and in limp mode but they’re. Claiming different problem so it’s gonna run us another $6k fix.
