I just saw Dunkirk and loved it! I don't think it was an emotionally heavy film, but it was definitely intense from start to finish. There's always an unnerving sense of dread throughout the film because the soundtrack constantly sounds like distant planes or ticking clocks. If you're interested then I'd highly recommend it! Logan is also really good; it's like the plot and setting of Children of Men but with superheroes.

Dunkirk... my god. I didn't speak for a good few hours after I came out of that theater. Hands down it's my choice for movie of the year. I will never look at war the same way again. Even if you don't like the kind of movie it is, as a human being who is here, alive on this Earth after the events of World War 2 it is practically your duty to see it at least once. The preservation and respect of our history is one of the most important things in this world. And the story of Dunkirk is displayed magnificently in this film. Everything from the cinematography to the soundtrack, the tone, the sound design, it's all very enthralling and really throws you into the boots of those soldiers. Such a fantastic movie.

Definitely re-watch it comes at night. It should be in the top 3 best films of the year, it just was marketed really poorly. Also the director has confirmed that there's a monster in the movie but we just never get to see it. You have to explain how the little boy in the movie would be exposed to the infection in the first place and the biggest theory I've heard is that the monster killed the dog and dragged it back to the house, and could manipulate and send visions to people while they were sleeping. This would allow the little boy to sleep walk, and open the door to the monster and the dead dog and that's what exposed him to the infection. The boy was actually sick and got the other child sick when he held his hand that same night to take him to bed. The couple wanted to flee because they understood that the main couple would want to kill their child to protect their family. There's a lot of tension and mystery to all of the characters and a lot to be explained. I am sad that it got bad reviews from some people because of how badly it was marketed but I consider it a high class film.

I live in Italy so I don't know if some of these came out before in the US. Here's my top 10 for 2017: 1-T2 2-Okja 3-La Tortue Rouge (animated movie nobody saw) 4-Shin Godzilla (awesome and deep. Not the usual Godzilla movie thanks to Hideaki Anno) 5-your name. (Anime movie) 6-Going in Style (Zach Braff latest movie with Freeman, Caine and Arkin) 7-Baywatch (so stupid it's sooo good) 8-Arrival 9-Logan 10-Railroad Tigers (sorry I love Jackie Chan) Runner-ups: John Wick 2; Spiderman Homecoming; The Great Wall. Also one of my favs this year would be the italian movie "Smetto Quando Voglio - Masterclass" but I don't know if it had an international release. It's the second one of a trilogy so yeah. Btw go see T2, Uncle E.

Whenever you can get a chance to see Logan, you should. As much as I loved GOTG2, Spidey and WW, it's easily the best superhero film this year. Personally, it's in my top 3 superhero films of all time. Don't know if you're a big X-Men fan or not, but I think you'll really like it.
@Peteriscool977 жыл бұрын
Personally, I know you've probably received a lot of these comments, but I think you should definitely see Dunkirk, if not for the plot of the film but rather the way it was presented. There really isn't a "grand plot" that takes place during the film like in the title "Saving Private Ryan", But rather the idea of 'escape'. The characters presented are of little relevance (as I barely remember any of their names right after watching the movie) and are hardly related. In all, the film does a unique job of presenting the battle in its purest form. It's best to think of it as pure unedited war film clips. Do with that information what you will, thanks again for the content :)
