The 570hp GTR was always doing to take a dump on the less powerful, heavier car. You should have used the P90D even though it's 10-15k more expensive :) in fact if you can arrange that test it would be awesome!

You really have not read the description of the video, have you? They wanted to compare cars which cost the same as it was a comparison of "bang per buck". So obviously they chose the Tesla which costs the same as the GT-R. It has less power than the GT-R even though it costs the same? Well, it was the *whole point* of this video to find out if you get the same power on an electric car *for the same money*.

freibier If the point was determine whether you could buy the same performance from electricity for the money then you only need to look at the numbers. Even a simpleton should be able to determine that the heavier, less powerful car was going to lose before a wheel turned. You can pick up a low mileage highly specced P90D for just over £90k and a highly specced GTR MY17 is going to cost that. It would have been a more realistic comparison from a power to weight aspect and more fun :)

I love Tesla's and would consider myself moderate. I don't think it has much to do with the lovers of the cars, but how polar opposite they are. Tesla owners don't care for speed, although acceleration is nice and something we can brag about as it has the most, just extra. The big thing for a Tesla driver is eco-friendly and in second is self driving. While a Car like the GTR is a gas guzzling power machine. If you want raw power and the sound of it then a GTR is for you.

Just the same as Kersoene is a lower refined and more suitable for use in lamps. In the UK, we love to simplify things. An american might say this pen is made from Polystyrene, Polypropylene, or Polycarbonate. In the UK we say it's plasic. We tend to use the umbrealla terminology more often. Same can be said for our news channels: In the US, hearing the reporter say "A train car carrying 10,000lbs of sodium hydroxide has spilled." In the UK it would more likely be like "A train crash has spilled lots of scary chemicals.".

I happen to know thay electric motors, by design, are good at rapidly building rpm, and with their simplicity, few connecting rods, low reciprocating motion, light-weight, and no contact (magnetism only) in key places, the electic motor can endure rapid changes in rpm better and longer, generally, than a complex petrol engine that works by turning a series of jerky explosions in smooth motion through a laybrinth of pipes and connecting rods.

This was 2016.i just saw him pull a better time in a Model 3 performance than this Tesla. The GTR is pretty impressive for now. car and driver tests have shown the tesla p90d does the quarter miles in 10.8 seconds when using ludicrous. p100d a little faster. I would argue you need to put good drivers and use the proper launch controls for both cars. Its kind of amazing that you are so off on the time given the shear number of tests have that been done for both these cars. the 0-60 for the nissan is 2.9 while the p90d ludicrous has been done at 2.6. Both crazy fast for their price points. Just check out the web before publishing your results. I'm impressed with the Nissan for sure as sub 3 second 0-60 is usually a lot more expensive and you get your higher speeds...not sure you can put a baby seat it in though :)

Jagan Joseph That's no denying that both machines deliver great performance for the money. We all know that the GTR delivers the BEST bang-for-the-buck. But a 1/4 mile time of 12.2 seconds is not bad at all for a 417 hp sedan that weighs 2 tons. Sure, the Tesla shines only in a straight line, while the Nissan GTR is also pretty good around the track. But, then, no one would really expect a sedan that weighs nealy 5000 lbs to perform great around a track.

Worth noting - before declaring a winner - that the Model S is a full size family saloon with 5 doors, 5 seats and two boots. The GTR has 3 doors, 4 (cramped) seats and a small single boot. Bang for buck must include these variables, surely?

Never let actual facts get in the way of a good rant. The GTR doesn't have anywhere near the same level of practicality as the Telsla. With its horrendous fuel economy, it doesn't even beat it on range per full tank. So it refills 25 minutes quicker from Empty - the Tesla has a full tank every morning, making "refilling it" on actual journeys a rare occurance whereas using the GTR as a daily driver would make refilling with Petrol an expensive twice-thrice-weekly chore.

My point still stands. As a performance car the Tesla only one ups it in the quarter mile. Have you seen how low the trap speeds are compared to other performance cars? The Tesla also can't corner, it's heavy, it's brakes are going to be mediocre, and it can't go very fast very long because the car will enter limp mode. The point is that the GT-R is a very good performance car and the Tesla is a very good family sedan that also happens to get to 60 really fast.
