@RonWeassly15 күн бұрын
@@Neiri-qg2wk They didn’t even need to go for 90s cheesy nostalgia. The movie failed because they took way too many liberties with the characters. No one was the same as they were in the original series. Why aren’t Jason and Zack martial artist? And why isn’t Zack doing any of his hip hop karate? Why was Kimberly a reformed mean girl with little athletic ability? Why isn’t Trini soft and caring for everyone and still able to kick ads on her own? Billy was the only one who resembled the original character. And then there’s the actual story, which was awful. I’m not saying they should be perfect teens, but the originals were role models. I do hope that whatever the next big Power Rangers project is embraces how silly the concept is without compromising while still telling a good story.
@purelysmetalnightcore16 күн бұрын
Your thoughts on the movie are the same as mine critique wise, except I'm also a HUGE PR fan so the movie was far below average to me. For some reason instead of adapting Mighty Morphin' properly, the writers made an action-adventure Breakfast Club. I was immediately turned off by it at the very start when the prank was happening. Consistently in every Power Rangers series the Rangers are chosen for being upstanding, moral people. In fact it's kind of a joke that the MM Rangers in particular were almost TOO perfect, always volunteering and raising money for charity. No reason why the movie cast couldn't have the same backgrounds and sweetness of the OGs.

They messed up on the most important part, the design of the tech, suits and kaijus . The power ranger series where never known for great writing or dialogue but movie got that right. What they got wrong is the concept of memorable tech . If I close my eyes and try to remember one feature of the suites , i wouldn't be able to remember anything but the colors .Same with the Zords and Megazord ,weapons and Goldoon. Within seeing them morph once on the show you could pick out one or two memorable features , the teath , tusks , horns on the helmets seperate the suits and give them character. It doesn't need to be campy to project that just designed well .

To put it simply they didn’t know what they want to do with it, all they did was scramble potential commercials and sell it as a movie. The biggest example is the heavy-handed use of the Krispy Kreme, when they simply could’ve just had one of them work there. Which would’ve been a decent nod to the juice bar/rec center frequented in OG Series.

This movie was way better than it should be! That is what I tell people when I recommend it. And it must have done something right because, to my surprise, my gf naturally put her phone down to watch it with me pretty early in the movie. I’ve said this so many times and I’m glad there’s a video highlighting it. Outside of the obvious financial flop. They used the complete wrong direction and formula for this movie. You don’t need 2 hours of movie for the team to BECOME power rangers, and for them to only be power rangers for literally 25 minutes! It’s a waste! And what’s worse, the correct formula has been shown over and over and over again and they still used the wrong strategy Orgin hero movies where the hero becomes the hero mid way through the film and the big actions starts mid way through the movie and it works: Batman begins Spider-Man 1 (Tobey) Iron Man Man of Steel Superman (Reeve) All these examples and they still used 2 hours to for high schoolers to become power rangers.

yah i thought the power rangers was ok, the visuals were really cool but it just felt like a very safe story, i would have had no idea they were planning on making more movies if you didnt tell me, cuz it sure didnt feel that way

So they had the First Class writers for this at one point, and fumbled that? That’s so sad to hear, dude. I actually enjoyed this movie when it dropped. It’s not great, but it was a fun watch and I really believed it could’ve gotten better had it continued. This could’ve been so cool had everything went well.

Those same writers also had an unmade script for the 2015 Fantastic Four reboot, but director Josh Trank wanted nothing to do with them.

2017 Power Rangers megazord, Goldar looked awful. It could’ve been more grounded without too much change from what already existed.

I saw it in theaters with my brothers since we were huge power ranger fans as kids. We didn't think it was bad, but also thought it wasn't as great as the show was when we were kids.

I was a huge Power Rangers fan as a kid, loved the Mighty Morphin era, and some of the newer iterations, usually involving the OG, Tommy Oliver. This film was pretty decent but it was way too slow, they also used the music from the 1995 Power Rangers movie not the Original by Ron Wasserman... in the ONLY MOMENT that felt like the classic series, when the Zords were assembling, and it was very brief. Having the lore as well of Zordon being the ancient Red Ranger and Rita being the Green one was cool, but it wasn't explored at all after the opening scene, which is rather annoying, having the Green Ranger in the film especially as a villain, maybe in the later half would've been the best way to go, because he was and still is the BEST thing the franchise ever did, it would probably have drawn more people in. I think they knew this and tried to tease it for a potential sequel but we're never getting that. Around the same time the BOOM studios comics were doing really well, and they'd managed to bring the Mighty Morphin era into the present and have it feel nostalgic but up to date, they focussed on telling really good stories... especially having their best Ranger, Tommy Oliver being the overarching villain 'Lord Drakkon'. The idea of fusing his two Ranger powers, Green and White into one was great, make him more powerful and more villainous, like he'd never turned back... That made those comics so damn good, and if they have any sense they'd adapt that into any future production they may do. Also I'm so glad you actually pronounced Saban how I would... even if it's wrong. Lol

I love the 3rd act in this movie, but my main problem with the film itself was that it felt like a 2012 film released in 2017.
@CD-gb5he15 күн бұрын
That's because the character dynamics were very much in line with 2012's Chronicle. Also, gritty reboots/adaptations were at an all time high from 2010 to about 2017 (Teen Wolf, Riverdale, etcetera).

Being a 13 yr old in 2015 (man what a great time to be a teenager) who grew up on power rangers as a younger child I really enjoyed the cast, the effects, and that’s all I really need personally 😂. Good cast and good effects, ofc the story is 3rd in impact for me

It's very easy, stop changing things. Make exactly what people are expecting. Continuity is inviolable, it doesn't matter if it's Citizen Kane or Barney, you piss off the fans, and no one else comes either. Star Trek has been learning this lesson for the last 20 years they have failed to grow the audience from 1992 even though they're spending five times more on each film

I don’t think Power Rangers will work on the silver screen because not many people will care. Many people who watched the series as kids moved on to other things they deemed more mature and now see PR as a child’s thing compared to what they watched later in their youth. I think a big budget tv show would work better.

I saw it in theaters and didn’t like it much. I liked the reimagined characters sorta. But the product placement was bizarre with the donuts. Also, I didn’t like the zords or the megazord. It just looked like someone had too much time playing with CGI and created a mess with it.

What is more interesting about this movie, the main cast actually have some rocket launch to their careers after they starred. The biggest star is Naomi Scott of course, but don't forget about the others. Ludi Lin has Mortal Kombat and Aquaman on his belt, Dacre Montgomery joined Stranger Things, Becky Gomez returned to her singing career, even RJ Cyler build some decent stuff in TV.

tried this : put the original suit and the remake suit side by side, and monochrome it, can you tell the difference? the original's design's pop out beautifully, you can tell which one is which even without knowing the color, the NEW one on the other hand, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM LOOKS THE SAME, boring concept, boring design, they tried too hard on the cool and edgy concept but they forgot how to have fun with it. ....oh and also let's talk about the megazord, like, seriously? the fact that they transmorphing into a blob of nano-tech instead of old school gattai combiner is probably the biggest sin for power ranger franchise, which by the way, what kind of animals are those? six legged mammoth? triceratops that looks like a giant beetle? sabertooth tiger that looks like a honey badger? they really emphasize michael bay-esque weird alien design and not in a good way ivan ooze might be a bad power ranger movie, but it's interestingly bad, be as it may, they still know how to make a cool power ranger scene, and the new one is just a boring mess, i never wanted to go out from the theatre as fast as i could because of how boring the movie is, well, that and pacific rim 2

They completely altered the formula and removed the essence of what fans loved about PR. 1. The camp and the cheesy elements 2. The spandex suits 3. The rubberzords with stuntman inside. Not a fan of the overuse of CGI 4. The rangers are meant to be good not teenagers with a lot of problems and baggage

There was so much I liked about the movie and was so upset that it was bogged down with some major flaws. As a fan, I was able to look past them, but it was clear that the majority of audience wouldn't stop noting it. (Looking at you Krispy Kreme...) There was so much room to improve upon but first impressions are hard to do again and it's just so aggravating that this movie didn't get the appreciation it's getting now.

It failed because they changed the looks of EVERYTHING that was nostalgic! The suits, the helmets, the zords, the villians.. that's what we love, not the characters or story. Hence why we don't care about every iteration of power rangers after the original season.. the original movie had way better auita and helmets, they knew how to upgrade and keep the basic designs
