2017 Subaru Levorg Review - Subaru’s All-Paw Sports Estate Gets An Update - Car Keys

Subaru has always excelled at making cars which are capable, faultlessly reliable but also quite quirky, and there are few estate cars on the market today quite as idiosyncratic as the Levorg.
But one man’s quirky is another’s bizarre, and the Levorg has at times come across a little confused: not efficient or practical enough to be a daily-driver motorway muncher, but not really sporty enough to be a proper drivers’ estate despite aspirations of both.
To address some of those issues Subaru has mildly facelifted the Levorg with a few bits of extra kit and revisions to the CVT gearbox to make it supposedly a bit sportier. Has it worked?

How long did you have the car on test? I put a deposit on this car at my local dealer they claimed it was owned by a Subaru manager. When i found this video I asked if it had been a press car and they said it might have been borrowed for a couple of hours to take some pictures!

Cvt is fine. I've got the 2016 levorg. I've never owned a car's that more responsive to moderate throttle inputs. I rarely ever use sport mode because it's plenty responsive in intelligent mode. Max torque at 1800rpm means your lugging the engine if you floor the trottle almost immediately when going slow. It seems like subaru programmed a delay to avoid this abuse. Drive like you should and it's very quick for a 168hp wagon. Electronic throttle can easily be programmed to avoid people's engine lugging. And it seems necessary for direct injection twin scroll turbo engines, especially with the type of pistons used for fuel economy. The Levorg gets the FA20DIT in Japan, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa and puts out 300hp (221kW, 400Nm) for Japan and 268hp (197kW, 350Nm) for the rest. The 1.6 version is for Europe and Asia outside Japan (Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand etc.). All are CVT only.

well, compared to any other four wheel drive car in the same size its not bad, boxers do use more petrol though, but its a great car. the price you pay for having full-time awd :)

In the UK Levorg list price is £30k - Its ridiculous. At 20k it would be viable but why would anyone spend 30k on a Levorg..? A Seat Leon Cupra ST with 300ps and DSG is 31.5k list and has a bigger boot. I mean what is going on here to justify the list price? The STI is £31k ffs
