Toyota trucks are the closest vehicle to being "indestructible" these days. Starting in the 80's, my brother drove his T100 for almost 20 years and my Dad still has his 2000 Tundra. Me? I traded in my 2005 Tacoma a couple of years ago for a one-year old Tundra. (I needed the V-8 to pull my travel trailer.) Issues with the Tacoma? Zero, even at 100,000 miles.

Don't get me wrong, I friggin love the new 2017 TRD Pro Tacoma. But, I can assure you that my 2016 TRD Off Road 4X4 will perform 99.9% as well as the TRD Pro, for less $. I like the PRO so much that I put that grille on my black off road, and it looks fantastic. The thing is, if that truck had been available when I bought my 2016, that's what I would have purchased, but I am happy with mine. Great video dude, nice drone coverage.

I might be one of the only people that wants this truck in a 6speed and it will never see any significant off roading haha. I wonder why did they go with the hood scoop and not just go ahead and include the sunroof. I'd go with the trd offroad and get the sunroof but I like the black leather in this one. nice enthusiastic review man. good job.

"The ZR2 is soooo much better than the Tacoma. It has front & rear lockers. Now, how do I engage the lockers and when do I need to use them?" - From Colorado ZR2 fans
@realaussiemale567
@realaussiemale567 7 жыл бұрын
Gazziza29 Use lockers when driving off-road uphill, to stop excess wheel spin, although, its better to have a diesel when going off road. More torque, lower engine rev delivers a much better performance and saves fuel, and gives better control. Unlike the stupid guy in the video tearing around trying to get sideways in mud, that's not what an SUV vehicle is built for, unless you upgrade steering components and suspension.

Gazziza29 they have buttons for the lockers inside under the touchscreen and a/c and heat controlls just like a normal Colorado has for downhill assist braking and the cargo lamp

Wish they would have put BFG AT TA KO 2's on it instead of those Goodyear's. The Goodyear tires are great for the street but suck on the rocks.

the trd pro should have included a supercharger or something to boost the hp imo. when people are serious about offroad, they're gonna want more than a pitty 278 hp in a midsized truck. nothing crazy but I think around a 340 mark would be a hearty mix of economy still and power.

I believe the payload is 1175 for the 4x4 or at least according to the 2017 brochure.
@SelmerVidz1
@SelmerVidz1 7 жыл бұрын
You're right. My mistake. The 1420 lbs listed in the video refers to a 4x2 model. The TRD Pro, with its 4x4, has a payload rating of 1175 lbs. An annotation has been added to the video to note the change.

Tacoma is great. Now how about some more room in it. And improve that seating position. Otherwise. Toyota perfection.
@Terminxman
@Terminxman 7 жыл бұрын
I've had my '16 TRD off road for a little over a year now and I love this truck, but yes, the seating position isn't right. I'm only 5'11" and I don't have the seat that far back, but the steering wheel just doesn't come back far enough to fit right.

Vincent Chen and a bigger gas tank it only has a 300 mile range. I know because I own this truck. Huge disappointment. My TRD 4x4 off-road had a 400 mile range. If I would had know I would of never bought it. They should of at least made a bigger gas tank.

thats the only counter argument you have? trucks statistically remain in the possession of owners far longer than any car, SUV, or CUV. most people will drive these long past the period where they will offer any large compensation. #failedArgument

While the 3.5-liter feels pretty good, it would be great to see more power under the hood. Same goes for the Colorado ZR2. If you wanna fight the Raptor, you need more power than the standard variant.

I just wish it came in the Inferno color. I want my truck to be identified easily. The red one could be any truck, the white could be any truck, and the cement... well it's just gray to me. Not saying the I (ME) wouldnt recognize it, im saying the majority of people wouldnt. I mean the whole reason why I even acknowledged the new Tacomas was because I was intrigued with the inferno. Every time I see someone pass by with the Inferno color I recognize it and say "there goes my truck!"

Head and shoulders above the rear drum brake equipped Tacoma....never had rear discs, never will. No Takata airbags, no rust-prone frame, and no danger of unintended acceleration. Better built, more capable, available DIESEL power...the list goes on. Seriously, all Tacomas have rear drum brakes. That should be the only reason to avoid the overrated Toileta products. Just sayin'
