I’ve watched so many of these I’m not even fooling with the springs part. If the trunk opens and closes with similar resistance I’ll skip them springs and keep the as spare seriously 😂 the HPD Spoiler barely weighs anything and the trunk feels light AF in the 2022’Civic so I don’t foresee any problems staying clear of EM SPRINGS 🤣

Thank you for this video! I have a 2017 civic and one of my trunk springs broke, the dealship wants $300 to replace them, and I just picked them up at the parts department for $40 and we are going to install them ourselves!

Yup, technology hasn't come that far for trunk springs. Brings back memories had a 97 prelude base 5 speed back in the day.

So these are just stronger springs that almost act as an automatic hydraulic trunk opener?

The springs I put on in the video came with the oem spoiler. They had more torsional force than the stock springs causing the trunk to launch open by barely pulling the trunk open.

Just a Honda Accord hey, you said this is an original part that came with the car, what trim level does it come on? Because mine doesn’t have it so I ordered the gas shock trunk opener I think this is a much cleaner solution tho but is it possible on a car that didn’t come with it?

My trim level is touring. But the trunk won't stay open unless there are the torsion springs to hold it up or you lift it by hand. Can't see any way any model accord would be shipped without trunk springs. The gas struts from the pics I have seen mount to the trunk hinges where the stock trunk springs are set in.

Just a Honda Accord you’re right there is a tensioner for the hood to stay up but nothing helps it go up, you have to manually raise. Is yours like that too?

@@seropserop yup that is correct. The gas struts would raise the trunk automatically I believe when you pop it and given they are a specific length should prevent the trunk from overextending toward the rear windshield.

Dude I’ve seen so many videos on spring removal and the struggle Even with the tool that I’m like fuck it I’ll install the Decklid the shit barely weighs anything (in my 2022 civic) and if it feels no different when I open close it I’ll keep the factory springs. IF THEY EVER Break guess what I’ll consider those my spare springs seriously 😂
