May I ask if the middle differential has a separate drain and fill? I thought this thing your changing on was in fact the middle differential!

So far I have changed my front diff (VAQ) once... which is way too little. This reminds me I have to do it next time I change engine oil (spring-ish time).

I don't believe that is oil on your pan/leaking gasket there. Coolant leaks like that can really look dark like oil - case in point...our Atlas. I swore up and down we had an oil leak on the front of the motor (with a thicker fluid on the garage floor that I really thought was oil) and the tech at the dealer confirmed it was the water pump and coolant. He said it's common for it look very dark like that and mistake it for an oil leak. Something to think about after you change your water pump and stop the leak...clean up that oil pan with some Brake Kleen and see if it comes back. I woudl have liked to see how you got the fill for the bevel box off/what tools you used...I gave up on mine/seemed like I just couldn't get the right set of sockets/extentions to get it.

dude, just a 5mm allen socket with a 3" + 1" extension. plain old rachet.

might be. i wouldn't let a dealer touch it. ive heard dozens of stories on failed dealer water pump jobs.
