Coming here after having owned the 99 750M, the 2001 S4, and most recently the S2R 800. Can say man the S2R 800 is in just such a sweet spot. Of course this 1200S is way different but i think that for the most part S2R gives me all the crazy feelings without any of the tech. I sold my streeetfighter v4 and while i do miss the INSANE top end power the S2R feels like such a perfect bike for my riding. Oldschool monsters are just such a joy to ride.

I owe one of these and it is definately great fun. About neutral, yes it is a problem, but if you do it properly which is getting it done before you stop you get your problem solved. Most reviews get all the pros and cons accurately, heat on heavy traffic, gearbox false neutral between 4th and 5th, very nimble, great torque, fun, easy to ride, great electronic package, quick shift is ok. Maintenance cost is ok (EU) for premium brand.

Brilliant review mate🤙🏼 I own a 2018 Monster and did a review on my channel about a month ago. So glad to see you have similar views of the bike. I absolutely love my Monster. It will be a sad day when I eventually get rid of her. I have to disagree about the mirror's thought, I put bar ends on mine because I could barely see behind me with the OEM ones. Plus I didn't like the look of the stock mirrors. Yeah, the finding neutral thing was a pain to begin with but over time I have either sussed it out or it's gotten better. I found it was worse during the run-in period. Keep up the good work 😉

Yeah boy! I ride the R model with Termi exhaust. Friggen LOVE it! That super smoothness in Urban mode, is thanks to the ride-by-wire throttle. It opens and closes the throttle a little slower than what you input, to give it that silky response.

If you like the monster torque, try a Super Duke. More horsepower and torque all below 9500 rpm. All the torque by 7000 and over 80 ft pounds by 3500 rpm. The Goldilocks engine for the street. I own a SD and a Monster 1200S. Both great bikes!

You compared it to an SV650 and that's not bad. I would compare it to a SV1000S. I had a 2003 that I bought new. I absolutely loved that bike. Right now, I'm on a 2019 Monster 1200 and it reminds me of all the things I loved about the SV. Torque for days, enough power to keep you entertained and it's easy to toss around a parking lot.

Its not the trans Yammie, It's the slipper clutch, they never completely release. I have a 2016 1200 Monster,s and 2017 Panigale 1299 S. As the clutch breaks in, natural is easier too find. When you change the oil, the metal on the magnet drain plug is from the clutch . Even with the Quick shiftier, I usually I use the clutch . The higher the RPM quick shiftier works well.. REMEMBER these bikes were designed and love high rpm. I ordered a 2020 V4 S street fighter, last S available , 3 weeks ago, in Greensboro N.C. area !! Selling the Monster with 1, 560 miles on it too make room for the Street Fighter. By the way , you convinced me in to getting a Scrambler as well lol Be safe

if you're in the market for super naked, this is how I would look at the competition: the looker > monster best sound > Tuono V4 top track > superduke the transformer > mt10 good value > gsx-s1000 steatlhy > bmw s100r the gentleman > spd triple
@Fearless154
@Fearless154 4 жыл бұрын
But aprillia tuono 1100 got faster laptimes on the track and it's easier to ride fast too and s1000r faster than superduke on the track too and both bikes does 1/4 mile faster than superduke. Officially tuono 1100 is king of the track as far as naked market goes and s1000r is right behind aprillia. But ktm making huge track performance improvements in 2020 so lets hope your list will be accurate in 2020.

I have just added a 1200S to my stable. Secondhand 2017 model. It does on occasions cause a bit of issue finding neutral . But I've noticed if you snick neutral from second when pulling up I find neutral easier. What I've noticed is occasional false neutral between 4th an 5th. I only run quick shifter in up selection . I like the big L twin engines. In the real world perfect for road riding. KTM , Streetfighter etc absolute power but to ride them in the real world Mr. Bosch has to have an input. I have a 07 1098S racing computer, exhaust etc blah blah it's 170 plus HP and not much more in weight. No Mr Bosch and it's a handful. This Monster is sweet and comfortable . Hi, I am thinking about buying a motorcycle, I did not drive 5 years, I am interested in the ducati monster 821 or 1200 s, before that I rode the ktm duke 690, triumph street triple r, I like the 1200s more but I do not know if it is too strong, I live in NY and I need a motorcycle to travel to work
