Thanks for the video. The engineer that designed this must have finished at the bottom of his class. This is the most convoluted, difficult cabin air filter replacement I've done. In fact, I just bought this car used, and I noticed that the glove box door was loose. It's now clear to me that the prior owner tried to change the filter, and gave up trying to put it back together correctly. Nothing was reattached!

Any motor vehicle designer should be required to work in a dealer's shop for two years before touching a drawing board or CAD-CAM system. After designing the vehicle, they should be required to perform routine maintenance: oil filter, engine air filter, cabin air filter, wiper blades, etc. The thing years ago was "design for manufacturing" so sub-assemblies were designed to throw together the car. Nothing for "design for service." The dealer gets the shop manual fee; the mechanic gets paid by the hour and he doesn't care if the job take 10 minutes or 3 hours. Edit: my old Honda Odyssey was easy: remove the glove box, remove old cabin filter, insert new cabin filter, replace glove box.

Thanks for the video. It isn't necessary to pull the two hinge pins on the glove box. Just release the cable on the right side, and push up the two stops to allow the box to tilt farther open. It is a bit of a squeeze to remove the filter door but I just did it, and my hands are larger than average.

Thank you, i have watched several videos, this one helps. 2:13 you need to push the snap part in and out and pull. I try to pull it out hard, but not works. I need to push it in and then out.

A cabin air filter shoulder be easy to do, but leave it to ford to make it ten times harder than it needs to be. I'm convinced they do this crap.on purpose so you have to take it in for every little thing.

Your description is spot on, BUT, those white pins Do Not come out. It took hours and then the door to the filter, how does that off,,,,, and of course everything is plastic. Try to access the inside vehicle fuse panel !!!!! The Idiots who designed the Ford Explorers had no intention of ever returning to these compartments. True Idiots !!

I only undid the elastic clip on the right side, released the stops from the glove box to allow it to swing down. Reached through to pop the clips. 15 minutes, tops.

I wonder if a dirty cabin air filter is causing the issues with my car's AC. The AC in my Ford Explorer works fine, and then every so often it will stop blowing air for about 7-10 seconds, and then it'll turn on again. The vents on the right side don't blow as much air as the ones on the left side.
