I can never get tired of hearing the BRZ’s engine. Despite it just being a naturally aspirated 4 cylinder, I don’t mind at all. In fact, I love it. I love the sound, the power, the 6-speed transmission, the interior. Would love to drive a stock BRZ one day, or one that’s lightly modified.

@@brokentradgedy If I became interested in turbocharged cars, then I’d end up only caring about horsepower. I absolutely do not want to become that kind of car guy. Would rather find joy in actually driving the car and appreciating the car’s driving dynamics. With fast cars the main source of excitement is flooring it and feeling how fast the car accelerates. At that point you don’t care about the driving aspect anymore because the power makes up most of the fun.

@@perrry_ho I was just thinking about this recently. Going fast in a straight line, while incredibly fun and exciting, wears off over time. Totally agree on the power (ex FR-S owner), but even with my less that great driving skills, I used to the torque dip. If they could tune that out (instead of after market fixes), would be perfect out the box. The seats were awesome and the steering/handling was so good.
@Genevagirls-h2x6 жыл бұрын
The question to ask people whining for more is, would you pay more for a more powerful option? I bet the answer is no. The car was meant as a replacement to the ae86, an affordable rear-wheel drive coupe. I do not think they meant for this to be the new supra or mr2.
@michaelw22636 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. It really is fine the way it is. Adding something as simple as headers and a tune helps quite a bit more (it's what I did). But everyone loves to play the number game. Not enjoy how it drives or feels, sadly. :/

I get the aftermarket support for it but I'm sure Subaru could find a way to gain 20hp and kill the torque dip..

I so agree with your tire discussion on these cars. I’ve put just at 80k mikes on my FRS and have been through A LOT of tires. I have found that it’s pretty easy to over tire the car which does neuter it unless you add more power or are doing track days. I’ve had the most fun on the stock tires or some high quality all season sport tires. Right now I’m running those 595 Rr R (how many R’s?) tires in the stock size; while they are maybe a little too grippy, as they have accrued a few miles and heat cycles they seem to be a pretty nice compromise.

I'm guessing it's not extremely popular because it really isn't significant. The BRZ/FRS/86 was an interesting car back then, but right now it's lacking interest. ... You/we probably won't see much development on the 86/brz as Toyota has announced plans for a 4cyl (turbo) 5th gen supra; which is still 2-3 years away, but w/that announcement, this chassis/model was doomed to languish w/minimal development, just like what Nissan did on the 370z. We might be lucky to see a new (not mid-cycle refresh) 86/brz in 2-3 years (8 yr cycle) but that is only if it is given a chance to have a 2nd gen. Even the greatest cars are killed by poor sales.

Out of the 500 that were made, more blue colored cars were made than black and white (not combined) and all you see on KZbin are the white ones when you just search Subaru BRZ Ts

@TheTopher 2017+ BRZ or Used 2014+ Lexus IS350 F-Sport? Is the IS350 worth the extra practicality and livability vs the BRZ? I've been debating between the two for a while and are curious to know your thoughts..
@vincentxtran6 жыл бұрын
Ben Nalon more power on the is350, but the steering feel will be completely different and driving dynamics completely different. it’ll be a lot more numb compared to the BRZ :) but i will say the f sport is350s have beautiful interiors so it’s whether you care about that raw driving experience or more power and comfortableness
@xXNotreDameLaXx6 жыл бұрын
@@vincentxtran Are the is350's (f sport only) driving dynamics comparable to the BRZ's at all?
@vincentxtran6 жыл бұрын
@@xXNotreDameLaXx honestly you have to test drive them to really get a feel, descriptions from another person will never be enough. from my experience, driving an is350 f sport was just more comfortable since the interior was nicer, but the steering was not as nearly as direct as a BRZ/FRS. also a BRZ/FRS will be a lot bumpier and harsher ride, and much more rev-happy while an is350 wont rev very high unless you're in the "manual" mode (controlling revs on an automatic)

Why they didn't put 2.5 sti engine into this car?
@rickeyalaman16605 жыл бұрын
the 2.5 na, depending on which 2.5, has some really annoying piston slap because of the shorter skirts on the pistons. my na 11 impreza has the most annoying piston slap. Which in the end puts so much wear in the piston rings even when subaru keeps saying the engine is fine. along with the oil consumption problems with some of the 2.5's. be happy its not the 2.5
@severe286 жыл бұрын
4:05No.. they wouldn't. Just turbo it. In fact, the set-up already exists. The reason it doesn't come turbo'd is because it would cannibalize WRX sales. Plain and simple. Quit trying to act like you know exactly what it would take to give it more power like everyone watching this is just stupid or mechanically challenged. The fact that ppl are already getting good numbers from turbo/supercharger set-ups proves that it can be done with ease. Will the price go up? Well of course. But not to where it would make it unattainable. I like this car. Have no problem with how it comes from factory. Ppl just have to go into purchasing knowing it comes as a BALANCED package. Just enough for fun in the twisties and to get to work and back. If you want more power, quit whining and just do it or pay to get it done.

Just buy a type R with that money or just a reg BRZ. $33k is insane. No increase in hp. Hell I would take 220 hp. But to keep it 205 hp and mark up the price is insane. The interior looks great tho.

Its usually suspension/braking upgrades most people would do themselves anyways. If we want another model we want it to either have more juicy or a better drivetrain
