I have just bought the 2018 GSX-S750Z (Phantom) - Just dud 2,500 mile trip across (mostly) France, alpine twisties, main roads, sweeping farm land B roads, all stacked up with luggage. Awesome bike, handled everything prefectly.

Rob Walker hey I’m trying to decide if I should get the version you have or if I should get the 2018 GSX- S1000z. I’m not sure. I’ve never owned a motorcycle but I grew up operating farm equipment/ Atvs and snowboarding so I have a good sense of balance and power control. I’m 24 yo 6ft and 2inches tall at 170 lbs . I am just trying to get an honest opinion before I go buying one. I really want to travel through the mountains and make day maybe 2 day trips/ drives with this

@@bdziver12 I understand your point, mate. I did change the geometry of my SP by fitting specially made clip-ons and it completely changed the bike's feeling (the geometry got pretty close to the Street Triple RS). But I got bored of the styling (too plasticky) and I got a 2019 CB1000R. I can't get enough of that thing, and the Neo Sports Cafe styling is absolutely spot on in my opinion.

They do make really good bikes, but since it’s not yamaha, and rossi doesn’t ride suzuki, no one thinks they’re good. One thing suzuki is the best at, out of all the bikes i’ve ridden at least, is the gearboxes.

***CORRECTIONS -The front sprocket rather than the rear was adjusted, adding more teeth to increase acceleration. -The forks were already upside-down but are new KYB shock absorbers, which are of higher quality and offer a wider range of comfortable rebound! -The rear brake has only one piston. My apologies regarding the misinformation. Thanks for watching!

Update on bike! I've done some aesthetic changes. It now sports a Yoshimura graphics kit. I've also added a Puig windscreen, a new seat, a rear seat cowl, and sequential turn signals & led headlights. To compliment the graphics, I also have a Yoshimura Alpha T slip on! My main camera has been out of commission for a while now. I'm hoping to get it fixed soon.

Many comments from people having 2015 or older GSX-S which is another bike. The new GSX-S was new for 2017. The 2015 or older GSX-S 750 is the same as the GSR 750 in other countries. Same engine with less refinement and HP. The new which came in 2017 is another level bike.

Watched the whole thing. Very cool. I'm picking up a red '18 tomorrow! I'm coming from a 2007 ZX-6R and this bike is something really nice. I was considering strongly the MT-07 (even the ones in the States are called that now) and Honda's CB650F. But this bike has all the electronic wizardry, more sporty suspension, and that under cowl looks nice. This thing is wicked, and I love the power delivery of an inline-4, and this one should have more low and mid-range than my Ninja. I've loved the nakeds for a year or so and I think this will be a great bike for me. I create some content too and hope to get some nice vids done on it. I'll throw you a sub, mate. Cheers from Florida. 🤙👌

On the top end this GSXS750 get away from the FZ09... this bike is sold really short on power for no reason. I think the engine tuning is better than the FZ, and a better chassis and suspension setup if you ask me. And a huge plus for me, when going for an exhaust all you need is a slip-on for this and make it loud a crap... its pretty much a straight pipe after that. With the FZ only option is more costly full system or cunning the exhaust. For bikes great, bur for performance oriented ride, GSXS750 is the way to go... So me and my GSXS in love all day every day!
@TheHDTheater
@TheHDTheater 7 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm with you. For a bike that's cheaper than the FZ-09, the engine, chassis, and suspension are so much more refined. The GSXS feels so firm and rigid in corners, yet extremely flickable. True, Yamaha engineered the 849 specifically for this bike, but having an already outstanding engine that is 9 years older (compared to the 2005 K5 vs the 1st year of the FZ-09) that kicked ass in it's heyday; they made the best choice with all else considered from a mechanical engineer's viewpoint:), deciding to tweak exhaust flows and fueling inputs. I actually ordered the Yoshimura Alpha T and had it delivered but decided to send it back for financial reasons. Hopefully it will be on my bike next year. But yeah, the only good sounding system for the FZ imo is the akrapovic full sys and I still think the Yosh slip on sounds wayyy better. When I tell people I have a new bike and they ask what kind, I reply with "laid back crotchrocket" haha; it really is the quintessential one of said kind.

I added a slip on, but kept the DB killer in. I found that with it out the exhaust drowned out that beautiful induction noise you get on the GSXS. I'm thinking of changing the headers for Arrow, then getting the ECU remapped. Theres another 10hp available if you want it. There's a few clips of my bike on KZbin.

Absolutely informative, loved the review. Subscribed now. I remember seeing some of your video earlier, so watched this start-to-end. This one just launched last month in Mumbai. So far, loved SV650 way too much, other than CB1100RS, but both aren't available in India. Developed plenty of liking towards this baby inline four from Suzuki, seems like superb value for money. Hooligans may opt for MT09/10 or Z900/1000, but greater torque at lower rpm is whats sets the machine apart, b'coz not all take their bikes to track! How the machine behaves on road in real world situations and how reliable and safe the the overall package is, also matters, at least to me, it does. And, you meet fun when you choose your ideal machine based on what you are really looking for, in a bike. If looking for crazy speed, then higher torque with power at max rpm is the way to go; but not to forget: Speed Thrills, But it also Kills! For all other needs, greater torque at minimum rpm range, gives the maximum thrill & fun.. Thanks for a video, Enjoyed it. Would you mind if i ask the name of the track you played at the end? : )

Actually according to my research it has 15 foot pounds of Torque more than 2015 and the gearing is higher on back at 43 tooth thus producing More power than the Gsxr 750 plus the 6th is longer..The 0-60 and Q mile specs are better on the new s 750 than the old r 750..Otherwise regardless of Jargon ,end of day we love this bike so congratulations.. Good work. Loved and agreed fully with the rest of the review .At 5" 9 I can fully flat foot both sides..and have no throttle snatch at all ,,Its an easy voltage fix anyhow etc,Australian models seem to be better as this is my 4th Brand new bike in last 10 yrs.

Increasing acceleration with a sprocket change will lower the top speed. Increasing acceleration with the rear sprocket will require an increase in the number of teeth. Increasing acceleration with the front sprocket will require a decrease in the number of teeth. Changing the front sprocket costs less but will wear the chain faster.

I can’t recommend the Yamaha mt-07. Had it for a year and got bored with it, cause the lack off power at the high end. I bought to cheep. After a year I changed it to a used GSXS-750 yoshimura edi. And it is so so so much better than the my-07. I still love my GSXS and I will have this bike for many years because it dose everything so well. Enjoy the summer 🌞🏍

I own this. Bike. I love everything about this bike, except the brakes. Not firm enough. Single piston in the rear caliper. Changed up the brake lines to Galfer braided lines and added 2” to allow the bar risers to be installed. EBC brake pads help tremendously. No longer squishy, however, still needs further refinement. I’m thinking the GSXS1000 front caliper may fit. Not sure.

I live in the States (Merica) and have the 2015 gsxs 750. The first year released stateside; yes I'm aware of the facts and all the reviews. I still am a pretty big fan of it as a second bike. I like the overall design and dash lay out of mine better then the revamped version. I wouldn't mind the better brakes, suspension or hp that they've got. But I can forego the modes. I've done a few modifications in regards to the megaphone gp slip on and sliders/spools and case savers (the same trex you've got) and levers, mirrors and fender eliminator. Next year I think I'll replace the brake lines to braided and maybe upgrade the pads and rotors. Also the indicators need addressing. I gave them a coat or two of nightshade for now.

All this being said; out of the bikes discussed, the z900 is the better bike hands down. I talked a good friend into the procurement of a z900 and it means business!
@TheHDTheater
@TheHDTheater 7 жыл бұрын
I respect that! I should have addressed the lack of commentary regarding the z900. At the time of the video, I wasn't that knowledgeable about it's specs and performance and therefore didn't want to make false claims or statements in my comparisons. However, I did get a chance to sit on it when I was looking at bikes and would definitely consider it a great choice. Because the z900 was designed to be the new flagship, replacing both the z800 and z1000, I have trouble fitting it into one defined category. This also helps understand where the S-750 fits in; because of it's smaller displacement, the Suzuki is inherently less powerful and has a lower torque peak than both the FZ and Z900. In my opinion, it's pretty clear Kawi and Yamaha were looking to sell each model for a broader market; they're much closer to the supernaked category than the Suzuki, which makes sense since they offer the S-1000. Now, does that performance gap along with nearly identical pricing make the S-750 a bad deal? I don't think so! Cost is a function of many variables, not just power output (obviously). I embrace the freedom of selection; I think it's great to see all of the bike manufacturers in the middleweight naked category because it creates strong competition which then drives design uniqueness, model updates, and happy bikers. I really did consider the first gen S-750 but because my motorcycle accident on my Suzuki S40 resulted because of gravel and no traction control, the introduction of the TCS on the new model was a major selling point and helps keep my mind at peace. Enjoy your gixxis and safe travels!

I rode GSX-S750 (the new one) and Z900 back-to-back and both are great bikes. I just wish they would've increased the rev limiter by 250 RPMs on the GSX-S. With the shorter gearing it can feel you're running out of the fun zone too quickly and you could've enjoyed listening to the wonderful roar from the airbox a bit longer.
@TheHDTheater
@TheHDTheater 7 жыл бұрын
Yeah I agree with you on the rev limiter. I'm not entirely sure why Suzuki couldn't have raised it a bit. But the shorter gearing is ton of fun for me, although I find I'm doing "prison speeds" relatively quickly haha! But overall, a great bike. I did take a look at the Z900 but I didn't think it was a bike for me. But hey, maybe I'll get a chance to ride it in the future. Thanks for the comment man!

ECU flash... = SOLVED
@exothermal.sprocket
@exothermal.sprocket 6 жыл бұрын
Yep, most ECU flashes on the market for most of these kinds of bikes usually increase rev limit 200-500 rpm, depending on the model. Of course these engines are based on former supersports which revved higher, but probably the pistons and/or con-rods have been downgraded to something slightly less robust (and less expensive) for use in the street-biased versions.

Very informative video Kevin! I was wondering if you can describe the button layout on the dash and it's functions. I'm considering getting this bike and was curious about the dash. Thanks.
@TheHDTheater
@TheHDTheater 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! So the button layout is pretty simple; there are two buttons that are used to adjust everything. You can toggle through fuel and trip meter info using the left button by default. You can adjust the screen brightness, clock, and tachometer style. That's pretty much it in terms of dash custom-ability. For me, its exactly what I want and need.

How seasoned of a rider are you? If you're new-ish to the sport, albeit your second bike, I'd definitely consider lowering links as it gives you a wide range of lowering options, from 1"-4" lower than stock height adjustability. If it's your first bike, I'd maybe consider something else! Let me know @fanatical16

Greetings from Sweden! Im looking into getting my mc license. Thinking about the GSR750 or the kawa z750 for my first bike. Would you say the older GSR (2013ish) would suit a new rider? Guess with lesser power and acc it'll be more gentle? Ive some experience and a mature mind. Really like the vlogs! Keep it up!

As long as you have some experience and a safe but playful throttle control, I'd definitely recommend a gsr750. The main difference between the gsx-s750 and the the gsr is power, technology, and gearing, and used vs dealership market. DM me with your budget, I'll help you out.

I have a 2011 GSX 650 F; inline 4, around 85 horsepower and a weight of 550 pounds. So relatively hefty for a sport bike. I'm considering this bike but I'm not sure where I'd feel enough of a difference to warrant the price of upgrading.
@TheHDTheater
@TheHDTheater 6 жыл бұрын
I made the mistake of not showing the full performance of the GSXS in my vid, but it is an incredible capable bike (the speed run towards the end was on steep mountain). The S750 weighs 470lb and handles like butter in the corners, 0-62 mph in 2.9s +/- 0.2, 114 hp, 81 N-m. Stats aside, its a solid upgrade imo. The S1000 is also really good, but its heavier and the performance isn't as usable on the streets. I think you'd love the bike and the price is very reasonable, especially in it's class.

Thanks for the excellent video! I've looked at and sat on a lot of bikes in the last few weeks. I have narrowed it down to 3, The Suzuki gsx-s750 , Yamaha FZ09 and Kawasaki z900. This is very tough decision, I feel more comfortable on the Yamaha. I love the looks of the Suzuk an kawasaki. Power and performance will satisfy me on all 3 bikes. Price is not an issue. Bike shops in my area have all of these new for under $7k. Are there any big negative issues on any of these?

Would appreciate any help from you or any pro riders all over the world. Thanks
@TheHDTheater

Thanks for kind words man. I have to say that it's pretty difficult to compare the two bikes. What are you looking for in your next ride? Agility, comfort, rideability, or performance? Both have all, but to different degrees. Plus the M109R is a cruiser and the S750 is a naked supersport. Both will fit you for sure.

Duda you are welcome, basically I tested drive the boulevard, it’s fast but heavy and I was thinking about the S750 but some people told that my weight will make it harder for me to take corners or to lean the bike, is that true? I’m afraid to buy the new S750 then I wont be able to take turns at high speed because of my weight.

@TheHDTheater
@TheHDTheater 5 жыл бұрын
No it keeps pretty cool in the summer. The new radiator has a much greater surface area then the previous gen, and larger than most bike rads. Unless you're sitting in traffic for a long time and it's over 90°, you won't notice the heat. Even then, it's not a problem.

@TheHDTheater
@TheHDTheater 7 жыл бұрын
It's really a judgment call. I know personally I couldn't own one because of the seat height issue. If you plan on going off-road with it, lowering would definitely be frowned upon. For street bikes, as long as the front and rear are equally lowered and you don't plan on going over a 45 'ish' degree lean angle, you aren't negative affecting the ride in reality. Again, that's the rider's decision!

Hey bro, nice video, I'm curious but what is your cost to insure your bike? I hope to one day upgrade to a bigger bike. Insurance cost is one factor that I would have to consider since I have a family to maintain. Also would this bike be great for long rides, like for example 200-300 mile rides? I currently ride a small HD street 500 its not bad around the streets and can get me to work and back fine but man does it kill me when I take it out on long rides its just too uncomfortable.
@TheHDTheater
@TheHDTheater 7 жыл бұрын
So insurance is pretty reasonable. Most insurance companies will classify this as sport touring, so I would compare it to a Yamaha FZ8 / FZ6R or an FZ07. The smaller displacement helps out because where I live, they don't account for the number of cylinders when calculating total insurance charges (4 cyl = fast in reality, but they don't care about that!) Mine was a little bit pricier due to a motorcycle accident two years ago and because I'm in my twenties. As for long trips, it's pretty comfy for medium distance trips. I made a 500 mile one day rally trip this past summer and I only started to get soreness after about 400 mi. This is pretty much the case for all bikes though, however the last leg of the trip of pretty painful. It's definitely a harder seat compared to cruisers/ touring cruisers, but considering most naked/sport bikes, it's by far one of the most comfortable.

I wonder if the jerky throttle is because all the injectors shut off at closed throttle for EPA reasons. I wonder if the ecu was flashed to keep the injectors on while the throttle is closed it would solve the issue. I have a 2011 gsxr750 and do not know if the throttle compares to this bike, if so I don't think it's as bad as people say. I'm looking to sell my gsxr750 for something like this. You could be on to something. I'm actually working at a motorcycle dealership and I'm gonna talk to some of the techs about it! I'm thinking a Dynojet Power Commander could fix it. But the gsxs750 is a great bike to move into coming from a gixxer. You might want to consider the s1000, though the inability to use most of the bike unlike the s750 could be a downside. Keep me posted and ask more questions if you have any!

It depends on what you mean by 'better'. In terms of power and straight line performance, the Suzuki beats the Triumph (excluding the RS model). Both bikes are extremely flick-able and handle like a dream. Both have adjustable rebound and spring pre-load. I'd say that the 765's digital dashboard is far superior when looking at the photographs, but it may look bad in direct sunlight since its a TFT color display; Suzuki's backlit display is monochrome but detailed enough to be used in direct sunlight and features a bright back light for night rides. Both have very good traction control systems. Personally, I like the look of my bike better than the Street Triple 765, but both of them are the best looking in the naked bike segment imo. The Suzuki is much cheaper off the showroom and will remain the cheaper option in the long run as triumph's are notoriously more expensive to maintain with respect to their competitor.
