If you buy your vehicles and drive them until the wheels fall off, then resale value is useless...buy what you like.

Dumb to buy a vehicle based on resale value, especially in today's market. It's difficult to judge where a vehicle will be 5 years from now although the Toyota Tacoma and Jeep Wrangler typically have better depreciation. This is for 2 reasons. 1) Most body on frame vehicles are popular right now and their inventory clears out which drives up demand for used vehicles. 2) The manufacturer knows this and has substantially marked up the price from 5~10 years ago. You should also not buy a vehicle as soon as it hits the lot unless it's a limited run. They will be hit with large dealership markups verse the end of the year. With trucks you could see over $10k off MSRP. If you order a vehicle, wait a while and pay the MSRP.
