bought brand new ecodiesel in 2016, drove it for 9 months with 30% of down time. almost 3 months sit in the dealership, being repaired or waiting for the dealership to figure out how to repair it. DEF sensors, DEF pumps, exhaust, suspension, shocks, engine codes.... in the end, every single technician knows my truck. what a honor. i have to say that i love the truck when it is running. it rides great, pulls well, very good fuel economy, but just cant keep it because of the amount of down time. sold it after a year, lost 14k. i dont think i will risk my hard earned money into a ram again.

I ordered a fully loaded Laramie which came out to $59955 MSRP, but the dealer is only asking $55125. You'll pay about 5 grand less than MSRP usually, and can negotiate even lower. EDIT 1 MONTH LATER: Negotiated down to $53300 final price.

I like the Laramie headlights more, and I'm not a fan of the cowboy-esque accents. I priced out a Longhorn with all the same options, it was $5 grand more. The only thing stepping up to the Longhorn gets you is that interior and the (to me) less desirable headlights. I still got the Off Road Group, and the 12" screen. Barnwood and southern style stiching patterns just aren't me.

Well that's interesting. I'm usually a GM guy, but wow, I really do like this. The interior looks great, and that Offroad pkg is a STEAL! Plus the 2" lift and ability to fit 35's is pretty great too. And 45k for a Quad cab Rebel is pretty good too. It's expensive, but it's about the same price as a basic 4 door Rubicon or TRD PRO 4Runner or Tacoma.

The lift kit is cool - and 2" is all I'd like, but dang, if a $55k truck won't fit in the garage of my $300k house, I'm not buying it. Air bag to lower is a great thing because they can be just a little too tall to make it. For what they are asking for a truck, it needs to fit in the garage so I can keep it nice and out of the weather. That's important to me when I'm asked to spend my money on something this expensive.

The problem with the trucks of today is all this technology will fall out of warranty unless you get maxcare warranty through Chrysler. I have a 2013 Grand Cherokee Overland and I have not had too many issues but the air suspension finally did give out at a hundred thousand miles and I had two struts replaced at over $3,000 a piece through maxcare. The other issue is the skyrocketing price of a decently equipped truck. Trucks are now luxury vehicles to say the least

The price is mainly determined by demand. These vehicles cost around $5k to manufacture over it's production life cycle. But since they cannot keep up production to meet demand, they are able to get away with large markups. You will see at the end of year sales prices dropping more than $10k. If you are replacing anything through a dealership, it will always cost twice as much to replace compared to an independent shop. Replacing an air shock is going to be expensive, but not $3k expensive.

This is such a nice truck! My only complaint is that I wish the rebel got the 12 inch touch screen, cooled seats, a 2 inch lift, and upfitter switches to compete with the raptor. I feel like the ram rebel isnt leaving you alot of room to customize the look of the truck and I was watching reviews on the rebel and the departure angle of the truck is quite atrocious. If they gave it a 2 inch lift, it would be near perfect!

Wondering if you have no choice with the Rebel but to have all those red accents in the interior. That would be a deal breaker for me. If I had the choice all that red on the interior would have to go. It’s seems awfully bold to assume that everyone will be fine with red accents. There should be a option in my opinion to keep all that trim black or silver or at least another color option. Match it with the exterior paint and problem solved.

Does the truck have stop/start option with the e-torque system only, or is it available without the e-torque as well? I’m really not a fan of this option.

The reason for less steering feel is because it's using an electric steering rack. You get less steering feel but better steering response. Usually with a hydraulic rack you get a dead zone and some latency in how the steering comes in that is not noticeable in an electric rack. Steering feel verse steering response, I will always go with steering response. I would give this vehicle a year to work out the kinks and another 2 years for them to restyle the front end. I would also wait for special editions to come out. I do like that they are offering 3 packages with most of the trim levels depending on what you like. The Chrome appearance package, the Sport appearance package, and the 4x4 Offroad package. It reduces the amount of things you click through when configuring vehicles as these used to be entirely different trims. I wish they would offer most options up and down the trim levels. Like getting a dual pane sunroof and 12" touchscreen on a tradesman.

Yeah, that famous BMW "dead zone" in their steering up until about 2014. Hydraulic steering can be perfect except for the fuel economy loss, which is marginal.

Not to mention if you regularly drive a 300 km north/south stretch of highway like I do and have to keep the wheel cocked slightly the entire drive due to crosswinds. Doing that for 2 1/2 hours straight is not fun. I notices a huge difference in my wife's car with electronic steering vs the hydraulic in my truck.

Into 2019 for the diesel? That’s unfortunate... was willing to wait maybe till winter of this year to purchase a new truck so I could see the revamped ecodiesel stats, especially if they upped the towing to compare to Ford’s diesel, but it appears the F-150 will have its diesel well before, so that’s the route to go. Day late and dollar short as the saying goes Ram lol.

Aluminum corrodes too! We have an aluminum hood my wife's Lacrosse and it's been replaced because it was corroding, making the paint bubble off. It's all in the prep and if they go cheap or too fast, you'll get corrosion.

I must disagree with the presenter's opinion of the flat load floor in the '19 ram 1500. I have owned two of ram's previous generation 1/2 ton crew-cab trucks; a 2010, and 2013. Both pickups featured the fold-out flat floor in the rear compartment. I absolutely love design solution because it gives the truck owner the ability to keep smaller items securely stowed, and separated, beneath a flat floor. Yes, ram has enlarged the "ram bins" for 2019, and added a small flip-out divider under the rear seat, but neither of these changes will match the usefulness of the previous generation. :(

Take it off road as many people plan to do who like on rocky muddy roads and they do not last like 20 year ago trucks and if a branch flips onto one they old ones wont dent. unlike the new ones with thin metal. Great thing about the F-150 SuperCrew is that passengers can stretch their legs in the back instead of riding around with their chin resting on their knees. Specs says this truck has 45.2" of legroom. I'm going to have to check that out, but I personally like the exterior of the F150 over the Ram. The Ram still looks like trucks of the 90s.
