the correct answer is, the biggest ones which fit thru the hole. as those will have the most surface area and grip.

I just toss my parts on the roof to keep them safe! ;-) As for my door speakers, they're still stock! Some have suggested that the engineers who programmed the DSP took into account the factory speakers and that changing speakers could have a detrimental impact on sound quality, or staging, particularly in the higher ranges. I'm satisfied enough with the factory door speakers. So, I haven't bothered with finding improvements, especially with the reports of Helix amp failures when coupled with aftermarket speakers. Regarding the subwoofers, I'm quite certain they are dual voice coil subs. That's why there is eight wires between the amp and sub box. Since the specs say 160W @2Ω, then I would assume that each voice coil is 8Ω and ultimately are wired in parallel at the amp. Again, I cannot prove a thing! ;-) I don't think I'd mess with the Helix sub box. Its internal volume is for two six-inch drivers and the box is ported with their frequency response in mind. I'd be more inclined to just build another box. Oh, wait... I already did! HAHA! Take Care! -Scott

Check your local stereo shops they should be able to make the speaker adapters for you. Other than that check online for custom made adapters. The guys from 5 star Audio might make you some. They have a great car audio install channel on YT.

LastHumansGarage yes easily done with a router. If you use a thinner material then you stack it to your desired thickness and glue it up with some CA glue. Then you could save some money with thinner material. You got this!

i removed the helix long ago. the bass was overpowered and the mids/higher were way overdriven.

Play around with some risers and fast rings.

@@LastHumansGarage I think fastring is branded. But other companies make the samething Risers are just what I call stacks of flat speaker adapters or wood. They help if the magnet is hitting the glass in the door.

@@LastHumansGarage Thats where the fast rings come in. Grind down that grill lip. The fast rings will fill in the gap thats let. So the sound isnt getting trapped in the door.

I remember when MB Quart and Focal ruled the Roost. I would’ve killed for the Alpine F1 series back in the day when I was into car audio. Sadly I heard MB QUART sold out

hell ya i remember... i had every MB quart line.. The Premiums, the Discus, and the "Q" even.. They were great speakers but the metal tweet was always harsh to me. I then upgraded into the Focal lines, starting with Polyglass and Polyglass Slims, then the big dog K2P Kevlar set which cost me $799.. This was all before the crappy Focal lines came out and things went downhill..

@@jedi69outcast the term "PPI" used to mean something in our day. I think the last good amps they had were the PC-6600 type era, though the much earlier 25rms x 2 simpler ones were the strongest of all.. I think the PPI ART series came after those classics. The current PPI amp looked like a spaceship last time i checked years ago. Dumb as hell...
