Thanks a lot for your video! This is the only video I found covering the water pump replacement on this 2.5L motor. I just got done doing this job on a customer Chevy Colorado at the shop. This was my first time doing a water pump on one of these so I had to do my research and reading before starting on the job. I was able to remove just the water pump without removing the entire assembly or the heat shield. It's complicated and takes a lot of patience. My long arms and skinny fingers allowed me to get in there and remove the 4 bolts holding the water pump. Otherwise, I would've had to also replace the water pump seal to the block and the pipe gasket if I had to remove the entire thing. If you have a stubby 10mm wrench and/or ratchet wrench and a 10mm wrench with a flex head, the job can be done without having to remove the entire assembly but it is complicated and definitely not a job for someone who has little experience in the field. Extremely stupid resign by Chevy! I have never before come across a water pump like this where they put the bolts in backwards!

Thank you Mike for doing the video and sharing all the things you learned the hard way. I have the exact same truck (white, 2019 Colorado, with the 2.5L engine) but, I have only put 20,500 miles on it so far. I am retired and have always done my own car maintenance but, at age 69 now, the body is not nearly as capable for such jobs as in my younger days. I have noticed lots of stupid design on this truck so far.
