Thank you!!! I recently bought an M2 LCI before they released the M2 Comp and was having some serious buyers remorse. I love my car and after listening to a direct sound comparison between the two I am glad I got the N55... in regards to the extra few horses, that's nothing a remap can't fix.

Idk, I don't think I'd ever be able to utilize the performance differences between the M2 and the M2 competition, even if I was on a track. But that engine and exhaust note on the standard M2 is something I'd be able to enjoy everyday, regardless of the speed I'm going. My vote goes to the M2 for sure.

the backseats of that small of a coupe aren't going to amount to a 150lbs weight savings though, but every bit does help

First, I hope all is well with your house. Secondly, the M2 Comp with the manual is way more fun than the DCT. I suggest you drive a manual M2C. It won't change your mind about the sound, but it's worth the drive

The M2 in the test is lowered, aftermarket tyres, and roll cage so the car is more stiff and not handling like the m2c off the factory line :/

This motor doesn't sound bad at all? People are just regurgitating what they hear on youtube from other reviewers. With the proper exhaust, it sounds great and very BMW motorsport.

Alex R. What exhaust do you recommend? Planning on getting an M4 soon and not sure if should just stick with stock. Not in love with the raspiness when compared to the smooth N55 and B58.

Had a N55 2011 335i. Considering 2020 M2 comp or 2018 M3/M4. Any recommendations? What's the driving diff b/w 335i and M2 comp, M3/M4?

There are some facts you got wrong; Interior - It's not carbon fibre it's a fabric material weave. Competition engine - It's not new it's the same engine that is found in the M3/M4 The engine was changed not due to costs but due to European emission laws. The car is heavier because of the new powerplant as this is not supposed to be lighter that's what the M2 CS is designed for.

Great review don’t like the new wheels on the comp. saw a black comp with the old wheels and carbon extras looked awesome. The old wheels make the arches stand out more. I have a m2 lci love the noise such a unique sound !

Juan Punch you do realize that the back seat weight is between the 2 axles right? I’ve done the same with my M2 and it’s still 50/50

Same as my 1 series. I think back seats are "right" above the rear axle. Immagine if 2 people of 90kg stay on the front seats if they aren't between the axles, the stock 50/50 weight distribution is going to hell by 180kg. Which is impressive.

Had an M2 for a year and borrowed the M2 comp for the weekend. Both great cars but very similar and this review seems pretty much spot on. Overall the M2 comp felt a bit more hard core. Good to get back to the sound of my M2 though. Totally agree about the muffler on the M2 comp. Looks like its arse is hanging out. Not a good look!

That was very well done. Just bought a 2018 M2 and am adding the Ditronics stage 1 ECU. IT will get me more HP and More Torque that the comp and will be 150 LBS lighter.

No offence but the M2 comp that you are driving is not only without the cat but slammed as well. This is hardly a fair review of what BMW actually did with the M2 Competition when the whole goddamn suspension and behavior is changed. Also 3650lbs is hardly a lightweight car.

The suspension is identical between the M2 and M2 CS - please do not post information that is not true or you do not actually know. Real OEM confirms all part numbers are identical between 16-18 and 19

This M2 comp is likely on coilovers. Makes sense with the rollbar. It’s definitely lower than stock.

Who in their right mind would purchase an M2 Competition with the automatic transmission instead of the manual transmission? Can't you get an aftermarket short-throw shifter with a better feel for the M2 Comp?
