2019 BMW X7 - First Drive Review of BMW's Big New SUV

Prices start at $74,895 for the 335-horsepower xDrive40i with a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder. The 456-hp xDrive50i costs $93,595 and gets you a 4.4-liter turbocharged V8. It also comes with plenty of luxury upgrades, all of which are available as options on the xDrive40i. They're both on sale now, and we suggest opting for the xDrive40i since there's not a big enough difference in driving dynamics.

I have the X7, lane keep assist follows the lines to sensitively. In other words is reacts to the line inconsistencies - either in the line not being perfectly straight, or faded line paint. Lane lines also are not always equidistant from each other, so the program seems to struggle with lane width variations. It's subtle, but noticeable on highways.

Not particularly sure how I feel about the exterior but the inside is definitely nice. I wonder how Cadillac will retaliate with the upcoming escalade , hope to see more effort compared to the Xt6.

The last time i bought a bmw was in 1998. They lost the class that they had back in those days IMO.. The leather aint the same they are not as reliable and comfortable.. The 7 series WAS an amazing car now is just a computer on wheels smh! But the x7 caught my attention! I might make a HUGE mistake buying or leasing this machine but hey we only live once and this big girl looks very sexy!!

I have no idea about either vehicle but I would guess the pilot would have a better crash rating while the BMW would would be better on gas. But then don’t forget how good the pilot looks.

Those gauges don’t look as good as old round black and white gauges. They are very confusing and not clear. I take a Ford Expedition Limited Stealth or Lincoln’s Navigator or GMC Denali over this too big for its shoes BMW.

Paul M I think this bmw is much more reasonable than the others with nicer features cameras on the high end models. You say big deal? Go check them out. They are a big deal. Almost a big enough deal to change my mind from a Range Rover autobiography, but I came to my senses.

One word to describe this : UGLY. I cannot believe that the same company that made the ever beautiful E39 M5 also made this boxy monstrosity. To top it it does not handle well, is not a pleasure to drive, has a tight 3rd row seat and very little storage space. All in all, avoid it.
