Excellent review...i had a switchblade a long time ago, and this review correctly reminded me of the high bar pressure. Thank you.

The switchblade is a great kite but not on the waves. It doesn’t turn fast enough, especially in larger sizes, to be a good wave kite. It also doesn’t depower enough when you push the bar out. That can result in getting pulled off the face of a wave. Smaller sizes like 10 and below are ok but still not great. Sizing down like you said will help.

Thanks for the comment! I totally agree - there are far better kites than the Switchblade for most wave situations. Some onshore or heavier conditions could merit the power of the Switchblade, but a kite like the Drifter would be far better suited for wave riding.

Time to review the latest versions of the North (Duotone) EVO vs Switchblade.

Bahaha, I agree %100. Problem is the 2019 Evo isn't out yet! I plan on riding the 2018 back to back with this kite however! -Rygo

Hey I am looking to buy a new 12 meter low wind kite, currently I have a 10 meter met F-One bandit. Is this a good kite for light wind and how would it compare to for example an f-one bandit? Hope to hear from you, thanks :)

What is your weight? what wind range do you consider low wind? As for comparison. I have not used a bandit in a few years. As I recall, the Sb is heavier and slower but more power and range. - Rygo

@@MACkiteboarding Thanks for the information, actually met someone riding the switchblade today, unfortunately just a beginner (so couldn't inform me properly) but a beautiful kite. I'm around 72kg, low wind is below 17 knots for me. Today I did my first tricks and downloops, riding my 10m in 20 tot 25 knots, felts awesome!

@@Jochumvideos Ohh Right on! at 72 kilos I think a 12 would be great around 17 ish! I'm not sure where you'll bottom out. At 81 kilos I can make a 12 Sb work as low as 12ish knots but as a heavier rider I stop having fun around 15 or so.Hope that helps. - Rygo

I ride an 11m Switchblade and the power is amazing for it size. I'd say it rides as powerful as a 13-14m kite. However if you really want to get to super lightwind tt riding 10-12 knots you probably want something like a 15-17m Contra. You are pretty light so 15m Contra would be the call. Board selection also hugely important of course. Just my opinion

I like your video's. But, music to loud and even.... not needed. Doesn't ad anything.
