You cannot do a more thorough review of an atv than this, excellent video. If you're used to Japanese quads like me, Can-Am takes some getting used to. But they are definitely coming around to making high quality atvs. Plastics and gear shifting isn't Kawasaki grade, but I'm very happy riding a 650XT from my first 750 Brute Force.

You can't make a more thorough review than this? Is that a challenge?😉 Seriously, thanks for the compliment. The last Can-Am we reviewed near this displacement was an older Outlander 800 XT from back in the day. This latest generation Outlander is far superior in every way. We definitely like the direction Can-Am is going.

Excellent overview. Thanks for the technical info again. I heavily considered a outlander recently but went a different route. They are the best looking big bore on the planet in my opinion. Looking forward to the shoot out! I highly appreciate the effort you put into your videos, I love watching slow motion rooster tails throwing earth into the air, it really looks killer. Hopefully in the future you can look into a CFMOTO contract, the 800XC is essentially an outlander clone essentially. Keep it up, love the testing grounds this time too!

ATVonDemand I ended up grabbing a 19 Cforce 800xc, it’s just like a outlander in a lot of ways but affordable, the diffs are much stronger, it lacks a few hp but 65 is plenty. Tons of features stock etc. I’ve been impressed with CFMOTO I’ve got 2 and there killer for the money. The cforce can use both Polaris lock and ride and can am linq attachments, it’s got OBD2 diagnostics so any automotive pocket scanner is compatible, the cvt secondary is adjustable for tire size changes, speedo can be re-programmed in 10seconds also without computers or dealers, mono valve adjustable shocks and threaded preload, trailing arm rear suspension, power steering, winch, hand guards, cleated foot pegs and foot plastics, O2 sensors for self correction under all conditions, etc. I really wanted a outlander but the money I couldn’t justify, there is also reliability issues in the long term I didn’t want to deal with, I build engines and drive lines all the time I didn’t want to do the same on my weekend/trip rig, I just wanna turn a key and go when away from the shop. In comparison direct to a outlander I would give the outlander a win in a few small category’s like power, stock base shock/spring setup, XT bumpers but really ergonomics are very similar. I got a cforce 800 for $7200 USD, which is also a 2 up I may add. It’s essentially a outlander on a budget for the more common rider. I wouldn’t try running the Baja 1000 with it at 90mph without a set of elkas and tires but it works wonderful. I plan to do a very technical in depth look into CFMOTO myself soon. I think y’all would like them, for the money to fun factor there hard to beat and well built over all. Top line pro riders and racers (I used to race nationals course 450’s a while back locally) probably would want more from the CFMOTO but for general users it’s plenty and after a few upgrades it’s hard to tell the difference. I have a ton of info that’ll be in the video on it, I’m going to go deep into design and features the manufacture doesn’t list. Anyway can’t wait for the shoot out, I follow the market closely and love to get into the design and engineering.

ATVonDemand id love to see your opinion on it. I don’t expect a “if you got a can am sell it and get this” kind of response but for those looking to get into the sport or upgrade it’s really great. In fact I took some measurements and such and the CFMOTO can accept Polaris lock and ride AND Can Am linq attachments on the racks. I’ve got a set of Polaris Kolpin grips for mine. They made it as a cross over system. I don’t know if it would fit the trunks and such but the accessories that have a single mount point will work. Give them a shout and see what happens, I’d support it. There a proud company looking for more expansion

@atvondemand I had a 2022 Honda foreman rubicon deluxe and have since sold it, it was very plush in the trails but no power. I liked the power steering on it and felt it did well at bump absorption. My question is, I’m looking at 2024 can ams and am wondering if this suspension is as plush as that was or if it’s quite a bit stiffer. Same question for the power steering, does it take away small bumps at low speed, i mostly ride slow, technical trails but want the power to run in the desert at relatively high speeds too. (I had a back injury and need a really plush ride to still be able to enjoy getting out there)

Do the frames still crack ?
@ATVonDemand5 жыл бұрын
From our first test of the Can-Am Outlander 800 2008 until today, Can-Am has definitely improved the structural Integrity of their ATV chassis. If you just cruise through the woods it's not likely you are going to have frame cracking issues. However, this is a 91 horsepower, 825 lb machine. It hits things pretty hard. If you try and ride it like a much lighter 50 horsepower sport ATV, you are going to run into issues sooner. Whether it is a Can-Am or a Polaris, serious cross-country Racers are reinforcing their chassis. Any ATV frame will crack over time. ATVs that make a ton of horsepower that are ridden hard tend to break more often. Sorry if this is not as direct an answer as you were hoping for. We will look into this subject with aftermarket companies and see if we can include a bit more information on this in the shootout.

I acknowledge that Can-Am makes a great ATV but I can't for the life of me get over had bad it looks. I know that's a personal preference thing, but I could never own one. I don't 'hate' the look of just about any quad out there except the Outlanders. I just find them hideous. It's a shame too because they win most other area's.
@ATVonDemand5 жыл бұрын
Well, you know what they say about beauty. Is it the shape of the bumpers on the xtp model you don't like or is it just the shape of the plastic?

pit I think they are sponsored my can am so they give them test units.
@ATVonDemand5 жыл бұрын
@@gavinb6300 no, we are not sponsored. Because we have been doing this for so long they make units available to us to demo for somewhat lengthy periods of time but we must return them in good condition. We receive zero and I mean zero financial compensation from the manufacturers for doing these tests. Thanks to Maxima racing oils for sponsoring our videos.
@ATVonDemand5 жыл бұрын
Because we've been doing this for a long time, we have established relationships with a manufacturers to borrow units for evaluation and review. To clarify, they pay us absolutely nothing, although it would be nice if they would because we need to eat. But basically, we receive no financial compensation for our opinions

I feel like a quad kind of loses it’s purpose when they get this big. Might aswell get a utv or a jeep.
@ATVonDemand5 жыл бұрын
But we definitely have fun on the big ATVs, we understand what you're saying. For us, it's less about the horsepower and more about the wait. The heavier the machine the less impact your body weight has on it. You're kind of more depending on the machine to handle the terrain as the writer has a bit less effect.

I have the 2017 version of this machine and I hate it. I wish I would have never bought it. I was a previous Polaris owner and would go back in a heart beat. Zero stability, burns up belts like they are going out of style, and even can am themselves cant get the throttle position sensor to keep the machine running. I cant wait until I can afford to trade it in on a new sportsman.

No fan of drive by wire. Let the rider decide how throttle to give it. Not a computer. How about a manual trans option? Be the first to offer one in a bike over 500cc.

I have a 2014 1000 xtp it's been fun riding it have 4200 miles on it. Problems for sure I always work on my own and try not to take them to the shop when I can. I will never buy a can am again they have the worst design when it comes to working on them pulling the floor board to change the oil WTF. Try changing the brake line out if you have a leak look it up. Seals leaking, bushings, squeaky everything, shocks remember to grease everything wtf who the f came out with bushings you can grease never changed a bushing on my old grizzly or Honda with no Grease zerks I noticed Polaris jumped on board with this too. I ride mine hard but have not got into other problems I've had fuck it here we go dps sucks pretty sure mine don't work anymore, crankcase seal leaks into clutch and makes belt slip, brakes suck, why the f would you put three brakes on a 900 pound wheeler. Polaris is same, oh but the renegade gets real brakes. Go can am but if you want to work on your own stuff blah can am sucks some I sold mine thank God go buy one and hang on to it for awhile you will see what I mean. Getting a little sick of these paid review videos. Bring that quad back in 10 years and see how its held up. I'm sorry, but Can Am still have horrible reliability issues and overall sub-par build quality, although, not near as bad as Polaris! I'm honestly surprised Polaris is even still in business.
