Interesting technique running the winch out first. Know I have used to winch to climb up some big rocks but only after I found I couldn't make it without. Also looks like you could either really use a auto to better crawl or a good set of low range reduction gears. Reductions worked a treat on the 3rd gen's. My low range is now 3.54:1 not much she can't crawl over now, as long as there is traction.

You probably know this already but in case you don't, there is a drain plug under the drivers side carpet. Having flooded mine in the same way I recommend to remove the front seats, lift the carpet up (have to undo the plastic screws) then remove the drain plug. Let the water drain out and soak up the rest with a towel. Then hit it with a hair dryer for a while and leave it to dry for a couple of days with the carpet up and the windows open. If you don't dry it completely it will start to smell really bad.

From my experience with the 3gen jimny with BF tires 16 psi isnt enough air down. Because the BF's very reinforced you + the small weight of the jimny you need to go 10-8 psi to get good air down. I usually did 10 psi with beadlocks rims.

Hey, your going to have to take the carpet out of the jimny!!🥺 Yep that's what I said.😔 The padding under the carpet or attached to the back side of the carpet. Has that stinky water smell in it.🧐🙂 I recommend that you get a peroxide based cleaner or get the brown bottle of peroxide from the store. And put it in a spray bottle. And just spray the padding with it. Note: do not dilute it. The peroxide will neutralize and kill the bacteria from the water in the padding.😬 And hopefully that rotten smell will go away.🤢 Let it air dry in the sun upside down🙃. So between the peroxide and the sun. They should help neutralize and deodorize your carpet.😊 Please Note: extract as much water from the top side first.🙂 Make sure not to get the peroxide on the carpet. You only want the peroxide sprayed into the Padding. After the back has dried. Flip it over and shampoo your carpet. Then make sure it's dry before putting it back in your awesome jimny! 😆😃

My 2011 Jimny dropped into the same wheel ruts in that hole. Im guessing they were dug out by out Hilux'es with bigarse tyres. My Mate dragged the winch out and had to step onto the bullbar in that nasty arse water. Lost all the skin off his feet over the next week or so. Mine sat there for a good 30-45 minutes, climbed out the windows to exit, no water in the cabin.

That gearbox was a pain in the *ss. Needed new bearings front and back. Different sizes metric bearings, Toyota Finland had one of them, but the other nowhere to be found. Well it is still made in Ukraine but not readily available. Took inch pattern bearing a bit too large outer race, a bit too large inner race. Friend used to make race car cams, had the machinery to reduce outer race to spec and machine groove for ring to keep it in. .And machine beautifull insert for the inner race to fit the axle. Huhhuh, that was really hardest thing yet with any car 😎
