Thanks for posting this! Literally had a dealer quote me $265 to replace the oil filter housing today also for a 2019 Sorento. Came home and searched KZbin and here’s your video. Perfect timing! Thanks so much!

No problem glad I could help.! You actually have one of the lower quotes. Most were $500 or better. But yes, if shops were being honest, they should know that this is only a half an hour of labor, an hour tops. So if they’re charging $100 per hour for labor ideally, it should be somewhere in $100 range. It’s a flawed design, but it’s easily accessed and relatively easy to repair.

I see the part you have is for a genesis, am I seeing that correctly? And thfank you for this video, I was searching all over for that part and what needed to be done.

No that’s just the brands that they have on the box. I’m not sure if the genesis has the 3.3 L engine or whatever liter engine it says. But pretty much this engine and any vehicle it may be in rather it be a Hyundai or a Kia will be the same.

I have the vehicle up on jackstands, from Harbor freight. Is elevated up about five notches. Hopefully that helps you could raise it up a little higher if you wanted to. If you are just sitting on the floor, you probably don’t need it that high. I had to do a transmission service as well, so I had it up a little higher than I would if I was just doing this job. Three notches will probably serve you well. Good luck!

How did you know it was time to change it ? I noticed my oil was a little low . Took it for an oil change and they stated I had an oil leak around plug and oil filter adapter was leaking . Not sure if this is related to this issues

I seen the oil coming from that area. That’s how I knew. But yes, if you have oil coming from that area, most likely it’s filter Housing, also is a pretty common issue with this vehicle, or rather engine!

Now for the million dollar question, where is the oil pressure switch/ sending unit?

You don’t want to know lol. It’s under your plenum or intake manifold. If you are having the intermittent oil light. Make sure you don’t have any coolant leaks and that you bleed your coolant system after you repair any leaks.

This part is out of stock at dealers been searching for 2 weeks! Called Kia they were no help and even rude! This has been awful 😢 my kids and I are without transportation bc of this dang part leaking. This can’t be smart engineering, wondering if it should be recalled?!

Good luck getting a recall out of Kia. What you can do is just call into the parts department get the exact part number for your vehicle, and you can search nationwide for the part you can call into any Kia in your region. You can also call Hyundai and see if they have the part in stock as well their 3.3 L engines of the same year have the same exact parts. If you are absolutely desperate and can’t get the part, another alternative is taking off the housing soaking gasket in a little bit of seal Repair and putting it back in. Of course after you clean up the housing. if it was the seal that was bad then this would ideally fix it. If it’s the housing, that’s warped then it will probably fix it for a little bit but not for long. Good luck on your quest. Hopefully you can get this prepared soon, and hopefully these tools helped you out. Also, just another note to add, if you’re calling into Hyundai, you might have to tell them that you don’t know the last eight of your vin so that they can look up, a vehicle that similar to yours, let’s say the Hyundai Palisade 3.3L AWD V6. Sadly, I'm in the same situation. But due to the pretty bad leak, I forced myself to get the part on eBay, knowing that it is like $69, but was told by every store, “It's a national shortage”

Yes, you should try to change out your gasket first. It might be a viable fix and worth the shot to put your vehicle back on the road. Good luck on your search. Are you doing a work yourself?

Take that quote to the parts department, get the part number, and start searching around! Good luck again. I feel your pain. Just be happy that you don’t have your oil pressure light going off every five minutes. I’ll be making a video on that repair soon.
