I get people are (rightfully) upset about the National Dex issue with Sword and Shield. but Pokken, despite being a legitimately fantastically deigned fighting game (extremely well balanced, high degree of playstyle variety, mechanics that reward adaption and emphasize neutral play and fundamentals) has always been neglected by The Pokemon Company, Nintendo, etc when it came to marketing, supporting the competitive scene, etc. If there's a SINGLE video we all not spam National Dex stuff on and instead actually comment on the video itself, it's this one.

I totally agree, for me it 100% depends on whether they will do this limiting of National Dex right or not. I think it might actually be a very needed move to make the games more fun, especially the competitive metagame plagued with the same overpowered mons for AGES.

charlie z I share your view. I take one look at, say the top 8 in the VGC and it’s almost entirely the same teams with maybe a different mon here and there. While it is absolutely sad that some of my favorites might not return, it might end up being for the better, and hey, not like I can’t find a new favorite! I saw Pokken Tournament listed on Amazon and wasn’t interested until my nephew and I played online matches during the “free weekend” and I was hooked. My nephew lost interest (he has Borderlands Handsome Collection on the brain) but I was hooked - and I’m over 40!

I also thought about that, but focusing on Pokémon of generations that have a poor quantity of representants, like 5th generation, which only has Chandelure. For example I thought about Serperior, Cinccino or even Zoroark from 5th generation, because they are speedy Pokémon and it is needed at least one more speedy character in Pokkén.

This should be the new gameplay mechanic for the next generation of Pokemon games. I understand how it could be seen as a risky move for the Pokemon Company, however I'd say this to them if I could. How long has Pokemon been around our lives? When it first came out with Red/Blue, it was appropriate that it would be turn based considering the available tech. However now we are grown. We are ready for a shift from turn based combat into a mix of RPG and fighting game elements. It would certainly be ambitious, I wouldn't be surprised if it took at least five years for a game like this to be accomplished, however it would forever change up the original formula. Gone are the days of only four skills. Now we would have skill trees and new moves. We would literally train our Pokemon. If GameFreak was brave, they would go this direction, and I have faith that the fanbase is receptive. GameFreak, look beyond your casual audience, look towards your fans, understand that they themselves have evolved, and are ready for a more hardcore experience.

This game looks way better than any other pokemon game so far by practically mirroring how Pokemon fight in the anime. It really comes down to how Pokemon should be optimally presented in a game's design and the depiction of a fast action fighter is perfect. This representation has variation, it has skill input, and it is much more exciting than Nintendo's current focus of turn-based fighting iterations.

We have yet to get a normal or rock type. Bug, Ice, Dragon and Ground types only have one of (I would say electric but Pikabre is still technically a different fighter) if anything we need to hold back on fighting, fire and ghost types as they’re the most represented. If I had to choose it’s be either Lopunny, Meloetta, Tyranitaur or Lycanroc (not really picky on any forms but I see Dusk being the most probable) as newcomers, but that’s more wishful thinking than anything.

I’d like to see there be a Pokken 2 please add more Pokemone to the character roster (hitmonlee & hitmonchan), please make the circle for the fighting area bigger, clean up the fighting, and incorporate more Pokèmon moves.
