We got VGC Champ Pachirisu in a format limited to a Regional Dex, only the first iteration of Mega Evolutions, and only three Legendaries. These niche picks will and should only be seen when they can compete with the current meta, and when they make sense. That said, with the new game coming out, we might get something like it in 2020.

@G Dev because of rayquaza's ability, delta stream which deletes the type flying weaknesses (electric rock and ice). While incineroar is also fire type which resists fairy, so fairy moves are not supereffective

People moaning about legendaries but the most common Pokemon is Incineroar 🤔 meta mons are meta mons and like it or not, the majority of players will use meta mons because they have the best chance to win. Here to clear some things up for you guys since, from the looks of it, most of you don't really understand what's going on. First, what's a legendary pokemon? For most people it's one where there's only one or very few available in-game. VGC uses a different classification in the form of restricted pokemon. These are the (mostly) box legendaries: Mewtwo, Lugia, Ho-oh, Kyogre, Groudon, Rayquaza, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem (White/Black), Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, Solgaleo, Lunala and Necrozma. These are only allowed every few years, specifically in 2010, 2016 and now in 2019. They are banned for most of the metagame because they're simply too powerful, but allowed every once in a while because they otherwise wouldn't see any action, and it changes up the format to be more aggressive and centered around these restricted mons. Using restricted pokemon is not boring or a sign that the players lack skill, because they have to employ the same skills they would in a format where the restrcted were not allowed. Other legendaries (like Zapdos, Latias, Landorus etc.) have always been allowed in metas with a national dex, and even some (like the Tapus) have been allowed when they belong in the current game's regional dex. Mythicals have never been allowed. The players use these pokemon because they are the best. They don't play to entertain anyone, they play to win, and possibly to have fun. If you think that legendaries (restrcted or not) kills the game, then that's fine, but keep in mind that none of these players are in the game to appeal to you specifically. They're in it to win. Second, hacking/generating pokemon. Hacking pokemon, as I understand it, means generating pokemon with moves or abilities that they can't legally have, like a Shedinja with the ability sturdy. Generating pokemon just means that otherwise fully legal mons are generated into the game for quick access. Hacked pokemon should definitely be illegal, as they already are and as most of you seem to agree on. Generating pokemon not so much, at least I don't think they're as big of a problem. Essentially, they give no competitive advantages. You still have to play them just as well, know what moves to use, guess what moves your opponent is using, know when to switch out, and so on. In that regard there's no difference between generating pokemon and catching, breeding, and training your pokemon yourself. However, the problem comes when getting new playerd into the game. If someone wants to be a VGC player and keep up with the ever changing metagame they will need to generate their pokemon, because the process of obtaining them legally is a big investment that not everyone has the same time or patience for. In that sense there is a problem for sure, but I don't think it's the players who are at fault here, it's that the process in the games is just too slow. I got bored of it and I'm sure many others did as well. I think it's the game that needs to change and not necessarily the rules. I hope this cleared up some things for you, or at the very least made you think about it.

People really have to understand that it is only a legal Pokémon if you can get that Pokémon via grinding. You can only generate Pokémon with stats that are possible via normal gameplay. This means all the Pokémon in the video are realistic, but just extremely hard to get without generation.

You can get the ideal stat IVs quick and perfect vs breeding which can make specific values difficult to maintain If for instance you wanted all 31x points into all stats but the IV for attack for a special poke attacker breeding that poke is insanely tedious as it is arduous

MAYBE I'll give you white herb xerneas, but even white herb xerneas can't hold pinch berries, or choice items, or any other busted shit. Mega rayquaza gives you the option to reset the weather whenever you want, hold whichever item you want, and set up weather that makes it insanely bulky, and on top of all of that, it's an offensive monster. Primals are nothing compared to it, don't even bother arguing that. Xerneas might be just a little bit comparable, but it's still nothing by comparison. Have you never played pokemon before or sumn?

To put it simply having a mega and two restricted Pokemon is great. That allows you to run Mega Salamence/ Mawile/ Kangaskhan. Mega Ray isn't just worth a mega slot if you can run another restricted in its stead. It's powerful, yes but not worth it to often.

I'm not saying you're wrong but leading Mega-Medi basically forced that. Fake Out wasn't doing any noteworthy damage, switching means something is taking a TON of damage, and I don't even know if he had protect. So going for a Hail Mary was his possibly his best bet. Now why he lead Medicham at all after the first game is the real question and I wouldn't mind hearing his thoughts about it.

Been hoping for some sort of META Break in pokemon since Generation 5. METAs take the fun, and challenge out of all games imo. You don't have to come up with a strategy or anything. Just go to smogon look up the info, and make the team according to what the webpage says and what you want and what the meta is currently(mostly OU/Uber) and boom you have an easy ladder climbing team. Which ladder climbing like this isn't even being done by your own... Well anything. All you did was look up the information step by step on what to donfor your team completely. oppose to an actual player researching pokemon, natures, base stats, builds, move sets, possible combos, synergizing pokemon party, etc etc. Not to mention that they still have to make/obtain the pokemon as well like the META player.(the only thing in common that a META Player has to do... I.e. make/obtain the pokemon.)

@@Miso-tz3wj I'm wrong because i want an actual challenge in Ranking mode? Oppose to fighting the same things over and over again when we have options of varity? Massive options of varity. And yet majority of every competitive player just wants the easiest cheapeat wins to advance. That's the difference between pokemon and something like yugioh amd Overwatch. Yugioh has a meta, and usually 5 decks run the meta, but there are so many cards and possible strategies that you can sometimes mix and match meta sets to make stronger sets, or you can make your own set and still hold you own, and/or win. As well as see varity as alot of duelist will have their own specially made deck. Overwatch has a meta, but it's not really played much unless you're in the higher level ranks(starting around diamomd and up), but even still one tricks, and the maps/match type can make it to where Meta picks won't even get used unless you can synergize together. I'm sorry that I'm an actual gamer who likes to be challenged, amd likes to earn wins. Especially hard fought wins. Those are exciting. ✌

@@taurellreed2716 yea yugioh has 5 viable decks you can run and im fully aware that you can run different cards and pokemon is exactly the same you can run different 'cards' aka moves on your pokemon like for example roar groudon to counter xerneas and as for overwatch youve just refuted your own argument. As you get to higher ranks youll start to see the same stuff and ITS THE SAME HERE so again i ask what are you exactly complaining about and how is pokemon different from any other competitive meta

I knew he would win but not that easily. His first game was well planned out but there were a few mistakes. His opponents biggest problem was he didn’t attack the Celesteela, which was his biggest threat. He had lots of threats though cause Wolfe is a beat in competitive.
