Here we take a first look at the new 2019 Swift 8ft caravan range - this is the Elegance Grande 645, the flagship offering from the Swift Group.
We visited Preston Caravans one of the nearby dealers to us that stock these amazing vans.
This at the time of filming comes in at £34,270 and for this price we wanted to have a look around and to take you with us to see where all this money is put into the luxury of the caravan.

Fantastic & thorough review thanks 👍 I have a 2015 Elegance 630 & absolutely love it, the floor is solid & when it rains (which I do love the pitter patter) the sound is reduced by about 50% with the smart construction. As much as I love Swift (this is my second one my first was a 2006 630 Conqueror) for £34k I would go for a Buccaneer with under floor heating & self level E&P for around the same price. In fact I’ve had the E&P compact system fitted to my Elegance by SAP in Doncaster it’s a brilliant system & a must for any twin axle. Excellent video and very informative review. We have the Swift command system in our van which is excellent for dimming the lights or in fact switching them off when you have got into bed. The tracker is also part of this system designed and developed by Sargent electrical. Keep up the good work and great videos!! 👍👌

I think you have a dry sense of humour and i do enjoy some of the things you say such as the description of the lovely wall mirror so you can squeeze spots , if you have any .lol wasnt expecting that said .

Very nice van, comparing it to our unicorn, I can almost see where the extra has gone. BUT it's 8 grand more than top of the range Bailey. Wow. Doesn't that traverse bed pull out then? Good review, thanks for sharing Graham

Hi guys, as always a balance well thought out review, that caravan is marginally longer than our lovely Bailey MH, then unless I missed it the weight, your going to need a big tug as well, so a train length must be at least 11 m. Anyway big 👍

Good review guys. For me it's a very nice van but for £34k I would rather buy a Coachman all day long. I guess it's all down to choice. Thumbs up for the video tho. 👍

Aren't you missing the fact that it's a timberless construction with a lifetime warranty against water ingress for the first owner. Surely much of the high price is because of this desirable method of construction.

We had a good look at the 8ft wide elegance but felt they were overpriced and really didn’t like the use of plastic in the interior, we went for the Buccaneer in the end for its level in spec and space

I just watched this good review. I like the 655 but even now not selling as well. Dealers still want 30k for it. It’s a great deal of money for a caravan.

Caravan bed sizes are a problem when you're tall, I'm 6'4 and have got a Swift Challenger 580 which has the same bed configuration as that, I've made an extra filler cushion to slot into the top of the bed which extends the bed by 4 inches, no more dangly feet

You only use the drainer when you are washing the dishes, the rest of the time there will be a dedicated storage in a cupboard

Always the problem with Island Beds, too short for 6 footers. At least there is somewhere for spot bursting. :-)

On our Cartagena the bed pulls out. It does mean it's more difficult to get around. It's fine for me. Mind you I'm only 5'10". I never quite made 6' :-(

An F150 will tow almost any caravan, there are plenty of good manufacturers in the UK and Europe. Our personal favourite is the Adria brand 👍

Great review but I don’t think there’s £34K’s worth of caravan there! From what I’ve seen out there I think you can get more for your money from Elddis, Lunar and Adria. Also I’d love to know how many occasions it took you to open the slimline fridge/freezer before editing with those nails?? I don’t know how you manage to keep them on your fingers, but they do look great though!

We intend to look at some of the other 8ft offerings when at the NEC show in Feb so if you enjoyed this please stay tuned. As the very happy owner of a 2018 Elegance 580 I have to say the 2019 models are a disappointment. A lot of the panache has gone both outside and in and some items of equipment have taken a hit too. Factual point though .... you have the info about the water inlets wrong. The bottom one is for normal use with an external carrier, the top one is for filling the onboard water tank.

I have a great sense of humour just like you and Jules, so please take the following comments with that in mind, and a pinch of salt! You don’t have the drainer out while doing food prep-it’s for, wait for it... draining. I.e. washed items to let the water drain back into the sink. I genuinely am not sure if you just want to criticise the van or not-surely everyone knows about draining boards, whether at home or in a caravan. I don’t do food prep at home on the draining board, I do it on the worktop. There is a storage space for the Swift draining board. No offence intended but if you’re reviewing a caravan, you really ought to research first. I don’t intend any disrespect but you are doing yourself a disservice when you criticise like this and it could perhaps reflect back on yourself. On a different note, I actually love here we tow-keep the content coming and boy was I drooling when those enormous burgers were made!! Keep safe!

I have watched the vlog back to see the bit you refer too, obviously I know what a drainer is for but I still stand by the fact that is a ridiculous size 😂 We have one in our caravan and its nothing like that. Have you seen the size of it in my hands. I guess my thought is whilst your drying anything you loose your work top. This is the good thing about caravans, there is something for everyone. Im glad you like the burgers, I had heard Aldi were doing one this year for Fathers Day but not sure. Thanks for you comment and for watching our channel. Crazy price, horrible plastic bed base, tackky splash backs, tiny bed, wierd plastic cowling at the back of bed , basic cooker and fridge, Swift seem to be losing the plot with prices and at best, average caravans, and as far as the lifetime guarantee for the first owner, who will only probably keep the van for five years, is not a game changer.

Swift have some very bad design faults and their finish on some models have been abysmal. If you are going to spend nearly 35K better go Adria or Hobby. Workmanship and quality surpass anything Swift!
