i would never buy another yamaha i am a mechanic of 35 years and bought a new 18 model and at 500 hundred klm i pulled the forks apart to fit springs to suite my body weight when i pulled apart the forks the inner tube was full of rust and the cartridge bushing has been running over the inner tube and now has scrap marks inside inner tube the bike has been ridden 6 times and the forks look like they are trash the oil was very contaminated with the rust from inside fork tube this is a brand new bike either the dealer i bought it from done the dirty and swapped forks or kyabas quality control is shit i will never buy another bike that has kyb forks in them and i have just bought my son a new yz 125 last week and now i have to strip them forks to make sure they are not the same ,for a new bike this is bullshit , i have now sent the old oil to a lab for analysis

i have not pulled apart the 125 forks yet but i will with my wr450 which has only done 450klm i am a third generation mechanic working in the trade for 40 years this is why i pulled apart my new wr forks to replace springs with ones that are for my weight, when i pulled them down the first thing i noticed was the outer tube oil was contaminated and the color was a brown color like motul fork oil ,this did not appear to be the oil that should of been in the forks as kyb oil is nearly clear upon further inspection the inner fork tube was covered in rust and had scrap lines worn in the tube where the spring perch mount was running up and down over the rust which has caused the the teflon to be worn of the perch mount bush this is why the oil was contaminated. the bike felt terrible in the front from when i got it. i contacted technics suspension and they informed me that this is not the first time they have seen rust in the inner tube it is a case of either kyb quality control from kyb is terrible and if that is the case the forks are being assembled with rust in them from sitting on the shelf before they are put together and they did not care. or either yamaha or the dealer has swapped the forks because the oil that was in them was not kyb oil. i will find out because i have purchased kyb fork oil and sent it to the lab with the brown oil that come out of the fork for analysis someone is lying and i am going to find out who, because of this i am going to have to pull apart my boys forks to check them and the bike is only two weeks old. if anyone needs photos for proof just ask and i will provide as when i was putting springs in i took photos. my geuss is the fork that were in my new bike were not new. they dont expect people to pull apart there own forks but i caught them out

rick praetzel the yz 125 forks were perfect . I just pulled my 2019 wr 450 forks apart yesterday to put 0.50 springs in and they had no rust in them they were perfect so i dont know what went on with my 18 model wr forks they had rust in the inner fork tubes
