Electric scooters, and EVs, will be severely limited in adoption by infrastructure. Chetak's target buyer probably lives in a 20-storey apartment building, and his Chetak is parked in a cellar garage. Government and Urban Development Ministry needs to come up with a standard with which a charging point at an apartment building's parking spot can somehow link with its flat-resident's electricity bill. And, there needs to be a method by which my neighbor can't plug his EV into my socket (maybe some device authentication tech). Until that happens, only people living in independent houses or villas can be brave enough to buy EVs.

Bajaj Chetak has increased the price of their electric scooter for second time without any noticeable up gradation. The first hike was Rs.5000/- and thereafter a whooping hike of Rs.27000/- in March 2021.”Bajaj” is exploiting the trust of Indian customers who are having great faith in this brand. The manufacturer has little sentiments for their trusted customer and enchasing every opportunity to swallow the subsidy amount and hard earned money of the buyers. As a thumb rule the production cost goes down with increase in production volume! Then why so frequent and intense price hikes? This is not only the story of Bajaj Chetek, every second electric scooter that gain slightest popularity has adopted the similar strategy, like Ather-450x has done few months back. They have no ethics, no sentiments for environment, country or people. I appeal to general public to boycott this product.

I own a Bajaj Stride 92 model, which I think probably nowhere exists in India. Still in excellent condition. Bajaj has comeback now with a scooter and we trust Chetak EV for the same. Already booked in Pune and waiting for delivery. I MUST SAY, DEFINITELY BETTER THAN ATHER AND OTHER AVAILABLE EV SCOOTERS IN MARKET.
@HarshHYP4 жыл бұрын
These EVs make people conscious of every kilometre they are travelling, so serves lesser purpose if the vehicles have lower range. These can be mainstreamed only after achieving a satisfactory price to performance(range) ratio, otherwise just expensive toys for show off.

There is nothing astonishing as far as the designed is concerned. There is already a vehicle which looks similar, the Yamaha Fascino.. the handle lines and the body lines are identical to the Fascino.

I will do the full charging and go one side 60kms and have to go again 60km but I see that after 15kms the battery will be low and where will I charge?

My Father is Using Bajaj Chetak Scooter and it's been over 16 years. Now he's thinking of switching to Bajaj Chetak EV. But doubtful about reliability and is it good for carrying two persons. Any Owner experience. Plzz answer.
@sumit55z4 жыл бұрын
Top speed of just 60 & limited range make it a failure....though the design & asthetic is world class. Bajaj needs to increase that range to 150...else it's not practical scooter. All hopes on Suzuki now. If manufacturers start giving too much importance on looks then scooter loose their practicality which is the main purpose of buying any scooter . Electric Scooter makers/designers should not mind if scooter becomrs fat or looks bit out of shape in the interest of fitting larger battery...and higher performance. Else it becomes All show ....no go.

I suggest electric scooters must have a battery compartment just like the batteries in a remote, easy to remove and replace with an already charged battery, and also providing charging stations with pre charged batteries ready in hand.

My problem is most of the population going to buy a scooter lives in apartments. And the scooter is parked somewhere under the building or wherever there is space to park. There should be a wall socket charger too. This fixed charger thing isn't gonna work. TVS i qube has a better option. They claimed that they are going to give a normal wall socket plug.

Problem with electric as of now is that most of the buyer atleast for two wheeler would be young and thus, mostly living on rent. Now getting a power plug fixed in a rented department and then moving can be seen as a difficult thing. It's the problem of scale I believe. The government can ask every housing society to put in atleast 2 power chargers or something and charge by meter readings or something.
