Great
- Best looking bike I have ever bought/owned
- Power (tractable and smooth). Feels like a 300 two stroke should feel. Great low end power and great mid range. Little bit flat at the higher RPMs, but that is normal for a motor like this one.
- Plenty of adjustment in the triple clamps for handlebars
- Starts instantly
- Simple two stroke with very little to break that would get you stranded. Premix bike.
- 7 lbs lighter than this bike was in 2017! It is still heavier than some of the other bikes in it's class, but we will take it. Give praise where it's due. They wanted to take weight off the bike and they accomplished it. Remember that some of this would have been the kickstarter, so now I'm not as happy about it. We will get to that later.
Good
- Grab Handle on the rear fender - why don't all bikes have this???
- Headlight is decent and would be adequate for getting home in the dark.
- Brembo clutch, but more stuff clutch pull despite the same master cylinder
- Improved kickstand foot pad, but a little short overall. Bike leans over a lot, so you just look for a high spot to put it on.
- Tighter turning than the 200RR! Not the tightest turning bike I have, but certainly not the worst!
- Great KYB fork components that many shops now how to deal with, but it might take them a couple of tries since this frame is very rigid. Be prepared to have to tune it though!
- Good Carburetor Keihin that many people know how to tune.
- Love that they encourage you to tune and play around with the power valve. Makes a big difference in performance.
Lower seat height great for soft enduro and pivot turns. But pegs are lower and I hit them on things more often.
- Nice upward camber on the pegs makes me feel locked in on the bike
- Battery Capacity indicator - nice touch.
Needs Improvement
- Speedo cable comes out easily and rubs - had to replace mine after a short time.
- Brakes - Nissin front and rear - a little grabby, but overall worked well
- Radiators can bend easily - some bikes require radiator guards. I think this is one of those bikes. - Flimsy guards on there from factory.
- Seats gets stuck and is hard to take off
- Graphics peel off around the boots
- Plastics are very sharp and can cut you. Had to sand down a few parts and probably need to sand off more.
- Despite being counter balanced, this bike vibrates much more than the KTM and husky bikes
- Seems really thirsty on fuel - ran out before all of bikes we rode with - needs larger tank
- Give us lock on grips. Tires of spinning grips.
- Exhaust leaks and sprays all over the junction even though I bought a new pipe and a new rubber coupler. Have to use Silicone every time I take it off.
- Too many buttons and horns on the handlebars. This is the race edition! Not street legal, so don't do all that. Put the kill switch on the other side!
- Air filter not symmetrical meaning is has to go in ONE WAY. While it isn't super easy to install upside down, it is possible and this would be catastrophic to your motor. Just update the airbox and filter so that it's dummy proof.
- Map switch - EH... didn't think it did a whole lot. Not sure why I want the bike to run worse and I feel like that is what those things do. And it makes the tank harder to take off and put back on.
- Poptart holder - I crush my poptart when sliding up for corners. Not ideal.
Bad
- Brittle plastic all over (fenders, frame guards)
- Ride-ability? Nope. And I LOVED the 2019 390 Race Edition! Forks were WAY too stiff for the general public doing off-road and enduro riding. Sure it was okay in 4th and 5th, but who's riding there most of the time? Was MUCH stiffer than the YZ250FX that is also a "race bike"!
- Trip computer kept resetting totally so I'd lose track of hours and miles.
-Needs a more reliable hour meter
- Needs finger clickers - They exist. Do it.
- We want the kick starter to be on the bike from the factory. Race teams put them back on. That should tell you something!

My 2020 Beta 300RR does have an hour meter; you have to click the button on RH side a few times to see it. It actually has three hour meters: 1 non-resettable and 2 resettable. The non-resettable holds its value even after removing the coin cell battery. Regarding fuel consumption it does go on reserve earlier than most bikes I've had but that's because it has an unusually large reserve tank that I measured to be 1 full gallon. I generally get about 75 miles on a full 2.55 gallon tank, or 30 miles per gallon.

My Speedo kept re-setting straight up in the first hour, turns out the plug in the back of the dash wasn't seated completely, pushed it in and heard it click and hasn't failed since. I've put 15 hours on the bike since then with no dramas. I quite like the forks, I certainly adjusted the clickers to softest compression and took a few out of the rebound, but I'm happy with how they are, yes they're a bit stiffer than most enduro bikes straight out the box but it let's me ride more aggressively and the cornering ability is amazing. No more front end wallowing from the softer setups

Have a 2018 BYOB 300 Race edition. 0 issues love the bike. The only nit picks i have is the instrumentation is cluttered, kickstand is not best design, it does vibrate a lot but that doesn't impact my hands or feet but I do have to check for loose bolts a little more often. That's about it. No issues with plastics, computer, brakes, speedometer etc.

I'm a long time viewer of your videos and have seen many of the big 300 two strokes, I'm curious to see your thoughts on the Beta XTrainer 300 as it's something out of the league from the other bikes you've tested. I just purchased one for my wife and we both absolutely love it for the tight technical riding. It'd be nice to see a comparison of the XT vs the 200RR/300RR. I honestly think many of your viewers may be better off on the Xtrainer instead of one of the balls out race bikes.

How does the 300 race have a tighter turning radius than the 200rr? Ismt the 200 built on a smaller chassis? As an owner of a '21 200rr I am a little disappointed in the turning circle. I will have to manipulate/dent the radiator header tanks to get more steering angle. Cheers for your great videos mate.

KYLE! In right hand drive markets it's mandatory to have a killswitch on the right side. Betas are very common in Australia, hence the switch on yours is on the right. Same reason for all of the light switches and crap, in Aus we have to have road registration to ride trails.

I feel that some of criticisms are a bit unreasonable. The Betas come ready to make street legal. It’s a bonus feature that many of us like and makes them unique. If you don’t want the turn signal controls on the “race bike” just remove them. Beta even provides a number plate with the bike if you want to remove the headlight. The kill switch location is a personal preference you have, not a flaw with the bike. And to be critical of the map switch location near the fuel tank after noting the controls crowd the bar space is also unreasonable. I personally think it’s a great place to put it. How often are you removing your fuel tank anyway to be inconvenienced by taking 5 extra seconds to avoid yanking the map switch wire out? Lastly, regarding suspension, does anyone have anything positive to say about stock suspension these days on any bike? Any serious rider is going to revalve whatever he’s riding. Adjusting the front forks with those bars is however is annoying... I don’t mean to be a Beta fanboy, but it’s clear you prefer orange bikes for your personal preference which is absolutely ok. I hope I don’t come off as a jerk, just wanted to pass along my comments. Thanks for the content and review 👍🏻

@@lukasraus3391 since nobody has responded to you yet the ktm and its clones that are street legal tend to be very finicky and hard to ride at lower rpm's they also have a high tendency to flame out where as the betas regardless of if you get the rr or the street legal rr-s will basically tractor up a hill at idle with the clutch fully out and it doesn't have the same issues pulling from the low rpm as other fuel injected bikes on the market I hope this helps to explain the hype behind the betas

I am surprised about the hard seat removal, I have 3 Beta's, 2013 350 race edition, 2017 Xtrainer and a 2019 390 race edition and all of the seats remove extremely easy, forget about the bolt on crap IMO. I think Beta rushed into the KYB forks myself, the 19 race edition Sachs closed cartridge are awesome

the disc issue you have on the front i would not be surprised is to do with the discs, the beta has a fixed/ solid disc where as from what i can tell the yz has floating discs.

Thx great video! I want to choose a new bike: xtrainier 300 VS. RR250 I have 6.3 ft tall (190 cm), and i am a 2t beginner, riding style is single trail, lower speed Technical trail. i like xtrainer Flexible, and xtrainer is correct riding style for me, but i worried about 6.3 ft for xtrainer... >Is too tall for xtrainer? >or is RR250 ok for single trail, lower speed Technical trail?

the yamaha Nissin brakes use a ball pivot to actuate the piston in your master and on the betas the lever as a lump that actuates the piston there’s friction in that system and it creates a worst modulation

KTM 300 EXC had everything and i am so sad that it is imposible to buy it now, the "better" newer models with TPI doesnt seem to me as good as 2017 model

I think it’s good that the front fork is stiff, it’s a race edition, they are suited for faster riders, I personally thought the fork is amazing for a stock fork

two cable ties on the pipe coupler does the trick. The 300 has always had this issue. The pop tart should be bigger so I can at least put my phone in it.
