I had many bikes over the years, but my most favorite bike, bike I had when I was teenager. Is 2001 CR 250. I found one few years ago, did full rebuild. Only thing is missing is E start, but not for long. When u get dirt bike u set up everything for ur ridding style, handlebars, suspension, tires. So it doesn’t matter what year ur bike is. New or old u will make some changes to bike. And when u been riding 25+ years u will have better list of favorite bikes. If u put all new dirt bikes on list, It’s not much of a list. More like a commercial for KTM and husky. Maybe u haven’t been riding for long time but most people will have this bikes on there list ‘01 CR 250, ‘07 YZ 250, KX450, ‘07 CRF450. This is just few. U should mix it up little, try some old school bikes, and see how they stand against new models and other brands.

All the people who always post the same question over and over "why don't you test this model or that model" , every bike he tests he buys with his own money, he has tested a bike or two that were on loan to him but that is not on a pick and choose basis, so paying for and having the time to test all the different models out there is not realistically obtainable, my point is why ask why.

I would buy the YZ over the others also. Probably the motocross version since the X isn't fully loaded and ready to go.... you still need to add parts. Every motorcycle or performance car I've ever bought needed tweaks. Change gearing, open exhaust to rev, close exhaust to grunt, etc etc. Always a trade off with bikes too. One has better forks, one has the better engine, better gearing, better clutch... We all have different body dimensions and attack styles. Bikes that fit him and his style might be only so-so bikes for me? But.... the YZ has an aluminum frame, and if I grenade the bottom end, I could actually find replacement cases at a reasonable price. Definitely less pricey than 4 stroke ownership. I guess to summarize what I'm saying.... a 200cc 2 stroke may not be "fun" for a 290lb rider that's 4 inches taller....... even if the bikes gearing and suspension is tailored for the guy. Like what YOU like! And enjoy.

Love your vids... but apparenmtly you've never ridden the king of dirtbikes... Honda. Now I ride a Husky but because Honda won't make a smoker. My 86 cr 125 and Dad's 250, 91, 92, 96, 97 250 s when I raced.....my 4-strokes were great but I love smokers and had to go back... Cheers Kyle.

I just bought a kdx200 2002 man it’s so different! It’s light and playful , i was used to a cr250 crf450s and more recently 300xc and 300xcw, I’ve ridden smaller displacement 2 strokes before (125cc)and I never really liked them,, but this kdx200 is so fun! And the suspension is surprisingly soft and comfortable for a relatively older bike

I've got an '01 kdx220r and set up properly it's been an extremely versatile bike. I've done every style of riding on it and it also seems like it'd be great for all skill levels. Suspension is a bit soft for MX but if you're clearing the jumps it's not as much of an issue I find.

Sure liked my 17 te250 with sx head/jd jet kit/ suspension revalved. That I put 200 hours on. MY 20 250xc-w is better now with TSP head/ecu reflash puts it on even another level higher. Stock suspension and handling are good also. I seem to like PDS rear suspension better also for traction it gets or feel off road.

On your #1 all time bikes, is that a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke? Don’t they make in both ? I have a 450 Kawasaki n did the same as u and went full boar. Not my first bike. Started w a 100 Yamaha when I was a small one. Mom said get your butt out there and DO it. :-) anyway, I’m liking your channel and was looking to go a little smaller with all the trails out here in Colorado. Thanks for your time! Great, informative channel

Woah back it up. The Golden era of dirt bikes is the 90s. Don't get it twisted, They pushed the Honda CRS so much, They have over 20 years of development for that bike. You have valid points but you need to understand honda had been developing the 2 strokes for a long time. Watch kapland America and you'll see!

I've ridden a 2020 250 XC with RK Tek head and it was a great bike. I just got a KTM 21' 250 SX in December and did a trail conversion on it including RK Tek head, 9 oz Steahly fly wheel weight & Smartcarb 2 and I'm certain it would be considered a much more fun ride than the XC by anyone who threw a leg over it. It's at least several pounds lighter (no TPI, e-start & wiring) and 21' AER forks seem absolutely perfect stock. The engine response and pull in mid range and top end would flat out embarrass any TPI along with much less complexity to have to worry about out on the trail. I think it would be a great bike to do a test on particularly a stock one vs. one set up like mine. It is absolutely the most fun and well running bike I've been on which includes a couple of your bikes mentioned in top 5. Don't take my word for it, buy one and do a conversion to see for yourself!

I love this sport, but my most important question is ,does the rider wear necessary protection in the pelvic guard?? Or is there any upgrade on that ., because I have seen fmx rider ,got hit in balls after a jump and landed wrongly!?????

The old saying is that it’s the rider and not the bike only applies of both riders are on the same bike. I agree with Kyle that some bikes just make you feel like a Hero while others make you feel like you suck!
