Today, in the workshop, there is a 2020 C8 Corvette undergoing a few new procedures to ensure it stays in pristine condition. The first step involves applying a paint protection film to the exterior of the car, which will help prevent any scratches or chips from damaging the paint job. The second step is adding a window tint to the car's windows, which will not only enhance its aesthetic appeal but also provide privacy and protection from harmful UV rays. Finally, the car is getting a ceramic coating, which will provide a long-lasting layer of protection against environmental contaminants, such as bird droppings, tree sap, and other pollutants.

And why you get film protection right after you take delivery...duh. I am NOT a fan of the pre-cut film kits because you can see the lines and end of the film everywhere, terrible look. Insist on full coverage that wraps the edges like under the hood. No one can find any film edges on my Vette 👍

Depends on the shops labor rates. My bike for example was ceramic coated, ik talking fairings wheels swingarm brakepads everything, if it was painted it was coated. I paid right at 400. Granted the bike was new, so it didnt need much paint correction. Matte paint looks like shit if you dont take care of it, so got it ceramic coated.

Probably a little over 4 grand given tinting, quite extensive paint correction, ceramic on the car, ceramic on the wheels, ceramic on the glass + PPF of the front and rocker panels. Totally worth it.

Nah, trust me, paint at 170K miles that has never been corrected looks much much worse. Especially the front - the bumper is pretty much gone over the point of no paint correction return by that mileage, as well as a good chunk of the hood. At that point only a full re-paint on the front will help to bring it back to life, no paint correction, no film, no miracle will help.

For the C7, aftermarket splash guards really reduces the number of chips on the rocker panels. May not be available yet for the C8.

I would bet a good portion of this damage came from shipping, and then unwrapping the car at a dealership, as the damage on the hood doesnt make sense unless someone was trying to peel off the paint protection only to screw it up that bad, plus it would explain the wheel damage too, like someone scuffed it up when taking it off the truck.

No no. You can take care of it like a baby. I had multiple black sports cars and they only looked the best just out of detailing. Even riding home on the way, the dust forms a gray layer on the paint. Will never buy a black sports car again. The best paint to take care is silver.

al agreed on all points except that silver/gray is pretty boring. But yes, very easy to huge dust with those colors. On a daily driver, black is a never ending battle to keep looking “decent” and really that’s the best it can because it attracts everything. That being said, it does require a bit more effort to do and in my opinion black is one of the sexiest “colors” for a car

I just picked up my new C8 today. I had a wrap done on the car, refusing to drive the car except home and to the wrap detailer. I didn't want too much even of the beginning of damage until at least the wrap gave a semblance of protection. I forget what this wrap is, but it sports a ten year warranty. I have some ceramic products in my garage and i want to apply them next. What about the aluminum sill plates? Should they have a wrap installed on them? It seems to make sense. AF

Clay is used to remove overspray and some grime on the finished surface of the clear coat. Beware of using these products in a place like Phoenix, Az. After a few years you are much better off with the original OEM finish.

PPF is always a dealer installed option, the paint would be too fresh if it was installed at the factory as it needs at least a week (preferrably 2-3wks) to properly cure. So if the buyer doesn't specify it the dealer won't waste the money on materials & labor to do it unfortunately.

Soft paintwork will always scratch and swirl so easily, basically you need the ceramic coating from brand new to help protect it.

My C8 has 6500 miles and has a couple of tiny paint inclusions from the factory but zero rock chips on the body and only a few minor pits on the windshield. That car at 1700 miles must have traveled some rough back country roads.

On my 2007 C6 Monterey red Corvette I would Claybar it put a Wolfgang polish on it and then put the Wolfgang wax on it and then the final put the Wolfgang sealer on it 12 hours to Bon People would ask me what your secret OK but are you willing to work
