I'm trying to do the Big Three electrical upgrade. Can I reach the power wire on the top bolt by pulling the hoses in the engine bay without pulling the bottom two bolts from below?

Two questions. One why did you remove the alternator? was it bad already. The other question can you show us how to do the oil change on this 2.3 2020 ecoboost model. The videos that are online are for 2019 and older and as for the 2020 are for the 6 cylinder. If you know of a link of an oil change for a 2020 ford explorer 2.3 ecoboost that would also be appreciated. Thanks

To answer your first question yes the alternator went bad it was not charging the battery correctly, it was not sending the right amount of voltage to the battery, causing the battery to die. I haven’t seen any videos on oil changes on a 2020 explorer oil change but I can add that to my video collection.

This is very embarrassing for FORD! such bad quality! so I guess its made in china alternator? I understand if you got over 36k miles on it already, but even then, alternators don't ever go bad. You should let the dealer do it and they do the work and pay for it. By the way, did you test it first before taking it off by using a Volt meter? you should be reading between 14.2V-14.7V across the battery terminals while the car is idling and all lights, AC, etc.. are ON. If your reading below 14.2V then you have a bad alternator, if not, it could be main computer not properly set/programmed at the factory setting and that's a dealer issue. Also was there any engine warning lights came on? OBD code reader if hook up, should have given you a clue if some voltage issue is happening in the car. Sorry not trying to be sarcastic, I'm an Electronic Technician and its what I do for a living, its just an instinct. The only cool part about it is that the engine, is facing the right direction due to the fact that Ford switch to RWD, and its much easier to work on. Other than that, this is NOT A GOOD FORD QUALITY! very sorry for your issue with a 2020 Explorer, this is the kind of issue one should have after owning a vehicle for 20 plus years! not couple of month after driving it out of a dealer parking lot....

This is not my personal vehicle was a I’m a ford technician, yes I’ve tested the battery and diagnose the alternator not putting out the right voltage.

Mine went bad at 70k. Part is ridiculously priced. Junk should last at least 100k.

@@vanguze or more, I had a 2003 Toyota 4 runner it was just last year ago 2022 that it started showing signs of the need to replace parts like radiator and hoses etc… I sold it and still managed to get $5k for it.
