The vents below the rear seat are not for cabin air circulation, those vents are used to cool the hybrid battery located under the seat

That is correct....for the hybrid batteries are directly under the rear seats. I don’t understand why he stated that.

Im actually picking up a 2020 Accord hybrid exl next week. I chose it over the Camry because of appearance and its performance. Its sporty as heck!! I drive 150 miles a day to work and back. I also only drive hybrids here in NY for the clean pass decal so I can ride the HOV by myelf!! Thanks for the real world review!! Very informative

I test drove this, the Insight, and the CRV, and I really loved driving the Accord the most. I've owned an Accord before, and loved it and this one is even better, in that it's so fun to drive. And the fact it gets that mileage is amazing.

Great review, that vent under the seat is for the battery that’s under the rear seats btw

After a fair bit of shopping (mostly CUVs) this video convinced me to by an Accord hybrid. Nicely done video. Slight correction, the touring model you tested has an EPA rating of 43 mpg due to the larger wheels/tires.
@jeffjo8732
@jeffjo8732 3 жыл бұрын
The 2021 mid-generation refresh changed the wheels on the Touring model from 17" diameter wheels with 225mm wide tires, to 19", 235mm. So the 2020 model, as tested here, was rated at 48 mpg and the 2021 at 43 mpg. You can ask your dealer to swap the tires and get the better mileage. To contrast, the 2021 Camry LE uses 16", 205mm while the other trims use 18", 235mm. Mileage goes from 52 to 46. After taking wheels into account, the mileage of are four are essentially equivalent.

The "driving modes" are SPORT, ECON, and NORMAL (neither SPORT or ECON selected). "EV" is a hybridization strategy, not really a driving mode. Normally, the computer chooses the most efficient mix of gas and electric. In EV, it will use electric only until either you ask for too much power, or the battery gets discharged to a certain point that depends on SPORT, ECON, or NORMAL. And most people find that the Accord's trip computer estimates 3% to 5% low. MIne says 46.5 mpg over 15,500 miles, but the pump says 47.7. And that includes winter driving, where it drops by about 5 mpg.

Supposedly adaptive dampers on the touring firm up in sport mode too, but I haven’t noticed a big difference. I typically put it in Sport for merging on the interstate and leave it in normal the rest of the time.

I would buy a Sport Hybrid of this but with the acura dual clutch (found in the Mdx Hybrid) or a single gear transmission like a true EV

Just leased a 2020 Accord Touring hybrid, and it’s magic! Not sure about the Camry, but have driven the hybrid Corolla and Rav4. The Accord is miles ahead in my opinion. A less noisy drive, more power, and more luxury.

My 2019 Camry LE Hybrid gets close to 54MPG...all the time..and i don't drive like an old lady... So 42Mpg isn't that good..for Hybrid..in this day and age... Honda Looks better i think..but at the end of the day...i'll take the 54Mpg I'm getting...

So the Accord hybrid outperforms the Toyota Camry Hybrid. How does it compare to the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid 2020?
@myytchannel6632
@myytchannel6632 4 жыл бұрын
Forget about the Sonata. Hyundai is taking advantage of its hype and their cars now are more expensive than the competition. Buy someone who has proven history of reliability. Or take ypur chances with Hyundai if you do not plan to keep it forever.

A big problem for both accord and civic, and i own one of each, it the far too low seating position. I am 6’ and i still feel as if i am on the tarmac. This is why so many buy suvs and cuvs.....people do not want to sit,on the ground. As well, both vehicles are sometimes difficult to get in and out of due to the low seating. Imo, folks want , and can have, a sporty connected feeling with a car without such a low seating position. Precious civics and accords i have owned did not have such a low seating position yet were still as sporty and connected feeling as the newer models.

If that's a concern I don't think it rises to a high level. I think people get used to it.

I have the exact opposite issue with being 6'4". I find these suvs have a seating position that doesn't allow me to stretch out like a sedan with lower seats can. I've found several popular makes to have seats that push me forward and ride with knees up. Ford's Escape is particularly awful. Only GM seems to cater to tall Americans and expensive Euro brands.

A couple of complaints about the car: 1). BSM & RCTA should not be reserved for higher trims. If Honda was serious about safety, they’d include these features in ALL trims. 2). If you want better fuel economy and better ride, you need to get the base model - it comes with 17” wheels and, aside from the looks, gets these benefits.
@jeffjo8732
@jeffjo8732 2 жыл бұрын
Since the video is a comparison of the Accord and Camry, I'm a little confused by these "complaints." They seem to apply more to the Camry than the Accord. 1) BSM and RCTA are not included with either the base Accord Hybrid, nor the Camry LE Hybrid. You need to upgrade to the Accord EX, or add an optional package to either. It _is_ cheaper in the Camry (although the Camry starts out more expensive), but comes with many more additional features in the Accord upgrade. This isn't intended as a value judgement, it is more of a difference in marketing strategy. This is such a judgement: while neither has these safety features in all trims, Toyota advertises that they are "available" in all but will gladly sell you one without them. It is arguable, and I am intentionally not doing so, whether the buyer must be forced to pay for these safety features. My point is that they can choose to pay for them, or not, in both. Your complaint is that they shouldn't have the option. 2) If you want EPA estimated 48 mpg in the Accord, you need the base, EX, or EX-L trim. Only the highest trim, Touring, is different. If you want the EPA estimated 52 mpg in the Camry, you need the base LE trim. Every other trim is estimated at 46 mpg. The main reason for the difference is the wheels and tires: 16" wheels, 205mm wide tires on the Camry LE. 17" wheels, 225mm wide tires on the Accord (except Touring). 18" wheels, 235mm wide tires on the Camry (Except LE). 19" wheels, 235mm wide tires on the Accord Touring.

the camry hybrid has a 0-60 that's over a second faster than the accord hybrid, so it's interesting you'd say the honda is better
@jeffjo8732
@jeffjo8732 2 жыл бұрын
Not true at all. Not even close. Not everybody tests acceleration the same way, so results vary. But using Car & Driver, Motor Trend, and Consumer Reports? All three found the Accord to be faster. In fact, of these three, the quickest Camry was equal to the slowest Accord: 6.7 seconds (Accord, MT) 7.1 seconds (Accord, C&D) 7.4 seconds (Accord, CR) 7.4 Seconds (Camry, MT) 7.8 seconds (Camry, CR) 7.9 seconds (Camry, C&D) So if acceleration is important to you, then the Accord is indeed better.
