I Just passed a year with my 2018 Nc750X. I call her Nancy. I have had some wonderful times with her. She handles like a dream, she showed me this by Fullerton Police Department Motorcycle Safety Course. Slow speed handling is a breeze. My bike has a manual transmission, so I am lucky there. Since the center of gravity is so low, she is very stable. Comparative to the boomers on heavy harleys having a helluva time with figure eights. She does well off road too. I slapped some shinko 705's on and followed a group down some fire roads in big bear. It was wet, but not raining, which meant that the mud had more of a clay composition. Combined with the fallen pine needles my front fender got packed so bad, I had to take it off. But what was great is since she was light comparative to the BMW GS's, Africa Twin, KTM 1190, I managed not to tire myself out picking her up. She is a daily commuter, a short little jaunt down some suburban streets. So I appreciate the high seat cause keeps me aware of all the jerks in cars. There are times when you feel the commuter aspect of this bike, cause you can rack up 100 mile plus trips in one sitting. Does she get boring though? I say nay. I still have to get some paniers and other things, so that's something to look forward to. Then you fall back on the solid reliability of the machine too. I travel down the cajon pass. There are stretches of desert where the wind is fierce. Nancy leans in and we brave the gusts. Did I save money buying a motorcycle? Short answer yes, every time I fill up. Long answer no. So she and I will be together for a while...My number 1.

I've owned hayabusa, fazer, multistrada, gsxr. I love this bike the most. This bike is just so easy. U can add your rear box and side panniers. Easy to store your stuffs, easy to ride, easy to maintain. Fuel consumption is great. Doesnt hurt your wallet at all. And it also has enough power to go long distance, u can maintain speeds of 140km/h to 160. Not too bad for a bike which is so easy. There's really nothing much to complain about for the all-rounder type of rider.

The 700X was my first bike and I didn’t love it at first. But after a few months I realized how great it was. I took that bike all over AZ, highways, city, fire roads and dirt roads for hours on end. That “frunk” is so convenient. I’ve stuffed bags of groceries in there, take out dinner for my family of 6. Literally a do it all bike. The only thing I didn’t love was the lack of power after 80 mph. It would do 85 comfortably but it didn’t have a lot of passing power around that speed.

Here's the thing about this bike that most people miss, it's basically like a big comfy scooter with the same amount of storage, but a real engine and real ability to jump on the highway and cruise at 80mph if you need to and not be afraid, you got people buying these high dollar vespas and BMW C400X for essentially the same money as this bike and it's crazy, plus the big volume dealers will discount the MSRP more than you think, there are people buying these for under 8k out the door, it's really a well kept secret in the industry, it also works great two up, if anyone ever thought about dropping 7-8k on a maxi scooter and overlooks this bike as an alternative, they messed up.

I bought it few months ago and have 500 km on it. Bike is amazing, you just use gas and breaks, engine does everything by itself. This is very good for cruising around town as you don't have to shift all the time. For more performance I usually put it in Sport 3. Frunk is godsend and with it I don't have to think about buying bags. When you push throttle it will shift down 2 gears to give you power you need. I have to say that my ass hurts from 5 hours on it, but that is probably because I am not used to sitting like that. Some helmets can fit in the frunk, but my modular cannot, anyway i use it for locks, drinks, covers,... I have not regretted one bit buying this one. And I do go off road, nothing drastic, but no issues getting places with lumpy dirt road.
@crunchers94 жыл бұрын
Your arguments against the bike are not helping the future of motorcycling. This bike is like the Model T and can do for motorcycles what the old Ford did for cars. It allows so many people to be able to ride a motorcycle that can go over 200 miles on the highway, carry some cargo and be dependable and affordable. It could revolutionize the industry. Get more cagers out of their cars and huge SUVs. And there you are, wishing it were exciting, which means expensive and inefficient. Think long term. Plus, we have yet another recession coming. How many exciting $15,000+ bikes will be selling the next few years? How many young riders even know how to shift? I've been riding my NC700DCT for 3 years and only long for my old sportbikes when I am riding in the canyons at a performance pace. Which is to say I'm not commuting, going to concerts, the beach, etc. The vast majority of my miles are done while I'm averaging 60 mpg. @jaxwylde21393 жыл бұрын
So what makes a bike exciting? Going 100 mph above the speed limit without even trying? Doing wheelies every time you twist the throttle? Going around bends at speeds that put your life at risk? The two hydraulic clutches will last longer if - when waiting at a red light, for example - the transmission is switched into neutral. When it's time to move, it can be switched back to Drive mode with almost instant engagement of the appropriate clutch while retaining your previously selected Ride Mode of S1/S2/S3. D.C.T. never loses traction untill overridden by the Traction Control, not even for a split second while changing gear. All clever stuff. Stay safe out there.

Good point! On the same theme, the NC750S (street style) is 3cm lower than the X (adventure style). Honda also makes a lowering kit that lowers the bike by a similar amount (fits both models I think). A specialist can eke that out a fraction more, and a gel seat modification can win you ~2cm. If you plan on long journeys, such a seat mod is worth thinking about anyway. I'm a 29" inside leg and can now flat foot my NC750X both sides. My wife bought a NC700X DCT and I liked that bike more than my VFR, so I sold it and bought a NC750X DCT. An upholsterer modified the seat, made it more than an inch higher and I mounted adjustable footpegs. This modifications made the bike very suitable for me. Riding the bike for hours is no problem. The NC can carry a heavy load (460lbs, about 60lbs more than the VFR1200X!). If you want to know more about the adjustable footpegs: look for the KZbin channel Honda NC750X Stuff, a very useful and enjoyable channel for NC-riders. The modifications costed me less than 300 dollars (230 euro). I also installed a new mount for my windscreen from Palmer Products, it is now adjustable in hight and angle. Hopefully my late reaction is still useful.

Don't know if the OP will see this post, but if he or any other owner could respond I'd appreciate it. On a normal (manual shift) bike, if you are traveling at super low speeds and turning a little, you can 'feather' the clutch to help you keep just the right amount of momentum while still maintaining your balance. Just wondering how (or if) that would ever work on a DCT bike??? No clutch to feather, so what would you do?? Scratching my head on that one. (I have never ridden a DCT bike.)

I think that if you can't ride exciting on a NC750 or any other bike with that horsepower. You either don't know how to ride or you live in the wrong area, where there are no curved roads. Hell I can ride exciting and keep up with many bigger bikes if I take my small 125 to the real twisties. Sure a very capable rider on a big bike would smoke my 125, but any average Joe, it can keep up with fine... The smaller weight makes it able to corner at much greater speed than a bike that weighs double that. Sure I still prefer taking my bigger bike, if I ride in a group ride or longer ride, because when the roads straighten out again, it can't keep up. That said, I think this is a magnificent bike and that will most likely be the next bike that I buy. Because as mentioned, this is just so versatile for commuting and I imagine for touring as well.

Thanks for this great video. Love the gloss finish on this year's model - it does a good job of diverting the ''plastic fantastic'' comments that you might otherwise get with the earlier matt finished, er, well, plastic bits.

The question this video doesn't answer is how about comparing the NC750X (non-dct) to the CB500X. As a owner of a ctx700 (non-dct) I actually like its low reving quiet engine but am curious about the more traditional cb500x higher reving engine and if it is significantly more buzzy to ride. Or it is just the right combo to make it more lively to ride. I believe HP is about the same between the bikes and the CB actually has a larger fuel tank at 4.6 gallons versus the NC's 3.7 gallons. So if fuel mileage is close between the two bikes the CB will have much longer legs. The CB is 50lbs lighter as well and now adds a slightly larger front tire for better off pavement capability and is $1300 cheaper. So minus the frunk is the NC really still a good option? It would have been interesting to see the reviewer drive those two models back to back and hear the opinion.

Good review, like your personality... I have a question about the “boring” aspect, is that more because of the DCT? I’m planning to buy the 2021 when I can get a hold of one, but I’m a little hesitant because of comments like that, I currently ride a 2020 ninja 400 and love it for canyons, but was looking fit a second all-arounder that would still be some fun... thanks, looking forward to your reply... 👍

Great bike. I'd take the screen off and fit a set of Renthal fat bars. If you prefer manual, just stick it in manual mode and use the paddle shifter.

I have wanted to get into riding and i was looking at this one for my first, is this one a good idea?
@SvenTSchixe4 жыл бұрын
Yes as long as you can flat foot the bike. If you are new to riding I would always recommend you be able to flat foot the bike, I always say you should be flat footing ALL of the time, however if your experienced already that can be a big difference for trying to back up or stop at a stop light - that kind of thing. If new to riding you could fall over. Other advice I would give to someone is make your first bike a cheap (er) one, not junk though, and ride it for a year or first season. The reason being is that if you do not like riding or you drop the bike, this is only a matter of "if" not "when", then you are not doing that to something that is expensive, even though expensive is relative to each individual's income or taste. Maybe if this size 745cc is not the size machine that you are comfortable with, I think the 500cc mark is probably a better beginner entry point. Just some suggestions, I had started on a 2011 Honda CBR250R non ABS version. Loved it. Take care and best of luck bud.✌🍻

Actually yes! It’s a great bike for a first time rider. Great value, easy to use power, and the storage. It’s a little tall, but if that’s not something you’re worried about then you’re gravy

where do you put the gas in ? right next to the hot engine ? is that a good idea ? also im not a fan of the skinny little bicycle handlebars
@Truthseeker714 жыл бұрын
The gas cap is actually under the passenger seat. It hinges in the back. Kind of neat but could be a pain if you have stuff strapped to the seat. The awesome trunk storage negates this problem somewhat, though. I'm seriously considering buying this bike this very day.

Thanks for the video and insight man! As a new rider, is this bike too “torquey” for some of us who tend to jump on the throttle a little too fast?
@user-nt1jf3yl3f3 жыл бұрын
Throttle is very responsive. Yes if you are heavy on the throttle it will rip but not wheelie.. Lol. It’s not that hard to control, just gotta be smooth with it. She roars if you ask her to….😎

I own a 2020 Dct as a beginner coming from a 150cc scooter. After owning this and riding for a year in NYC no less.. lol, this is an amazing machine. It will get you in trouble as a beginner if you don’t respect the bike. I know it doesn’t have “rip your arms out” type of power but it rips from light to light and has plenty of torque. The bike puts a smile on your face when I ride and is hella fun. Top speed is like 115mph but I’ve only pushed it to 85-90 and that was plenty speed for me. Super fun, and great for the city😎 Im an older beginner rider though and it’s all about perspective when it comes to choosing a bike I suppose. Good luck.
