The Hyundai Venue is a perfect example of how quickly the automotive world is changing. The Hyundai Venue is a subcompact utility based on the Hyundai Accent platform delivering an alternative to buying a compact or subcompact car. people love utility vehicles and even though the Venue is a front wheel drive-only vehicle, it has the looks and attitude of an SUV but really is just a city runabout. Powering the all-new Hyundai Venue compact utility is a 1.6L 4-cylinder engine with 121hp and 113 lb.-ft. of torque. The power goes through a CVT to the front wheels only. All but the top model get rear drum brakes. The Venue comes with a base model using a manual transmission, all other models get a CVT. The base automatic equipped car comes with heated front seats, heated rear seats, apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keyless entry plus push button start and roof rails.The market for small cars is quickly shrinking but the sales of small SUVs is absolutely exploding, a small subcompact utility like this Venue is another nail in the coffin of small car sales.

Torsion beam suspension, steel rims, rear drum brakes, and rock hard dashboard are all great things and will quite likely to outlast the rest of the vehicle. Why do reviewers always look at them as a detraction!

Can't knock a basic, functional vehicle with nice content, excellent fuel economy, and good looks. My son (20 years old) just picked up a Venue as his first new car, and I'm very impressed with the vehicles quietness and solidity.

So, manufacturers have figured out how to make money building small vehicles, by giving people the seat height, room, and practicality they so obviously want. This trend has been ongoing for 10 years now, everyone understands except the automotive journalists.

I am 6'2" and love our 2016 Accent. It has plenty of legroom and was 13K (taxes included) when we bought it in 2018. It sucks that they are getting rid of the Accent to give you this vehicle for more money. We'll keep driving our Accent for many more years. Love it!

I went for a test drive in the Venue and loved it. Great view out front and inside was great. Only thing was getting in and out. I'm 6 feet and the B pillar or door frame is in front of the seat and I half to go around that and squeeze in past the steering wheel anyone else have this trouble. this is the main reason why I cant decide to buy this. Makes me think the Kona is a better fit, literally.

The accent hatch, which the venue is based on and which is the accent hatch’s replacement in the states, is far more fun to drive and gets way better mileage that this as the venue is hi off the road and is like driving a brick thru the air.

2 things: - Engine is multi-port not direct injected. I believe Hyundai has figured out that direct injection has too many problems with carbon buildup on valves and with the high pressure fuel system. - Auto and cruise package are available on the base model for $1,300 for a total of $18,400 Cdn before freight.

Like the 2020 Hyundai Accent, I think the Venue is a fantastically great work of industrial art. I also think the 2020 Hyundai Elantra and the 2020 Hyundai Sonata are works of industrial art pollution. The design teams for those vehicle must have been different. So it seems that French speaking Canadians like manual shift cars more than automatics. Why is Quebec so different than BC and Toronto?

That's right, the only thing stopping me on these is this, the base lacks cruise control, if a more equipped still manual would be offered i would consider it. To me, in cvt this feels underpowered, but in manual it feels more like rev it up and go! This would be a good evolution from a rio manual, a car that i respect for is honesty and fun feeling to drive having own one for 7 years and wondering if i should buy this or keep mine....Really enjoyed the test drive so.....

So how is a compact CUV different than a Hatchback? Why do I keep hearing that we don’t get the European hatchbacks because Americans don’t like hatchbacks yet they appear to be scrambling to get into Nissan Kicks, Kona, Venue etc....Forget the T-Roc, put a lift kit on a Golf and you’ve got the world’s most popular CUV! BTW, Venue looks like. “Hyundai” Soul :)
@davidjym
@davidjym 4 жыл бұрын
From what I understand, these compact CUVs have higher ground clearance and also taller profile to provide more head room than traditional hatchbacks. The benefit is more interior space while having similar footprints. The Soul seems to have gotten much larger since it was redesigned, so the Venue will fit nicely in terms of size of the original Soul design.

DAVID Y car makers have shot themselves i. The foot. Crappy roads with tons of potholes, tons of salt and "shmutz" (as TeslaBjorn would say) during 5 long winter months means most cars start to be in a really bad shape after 10 years. One can say we dispose of cars quite often so a cheap runabout is perfect for the job. And as Zack said, we prefer small cars and hatchbacks with manual transmissions because they are 1-2k cheaper than the automatics.

If your parents paid for the education and that education cant get you a job where you can afford payments on a $24k car you shouldnt have got that education to begin with. Not sure about this particular one, but the new CUVs handle and drive better than cars of yesteryear and fuel economy is very good as well. Cars are just not attractive anymore to most buyers who are satisfied with the driving experiences of modern CUVs and want the benefit of AWD and cargo room. For the Venue, the front blends so poorly that it looks like 2 different cars that have been welded together. When you scan this car, it has so many clashing elements and bizarre front end styling that the eyes don't know where to go and its simply painful to look at. Buyers would be much better off spending a bit more and getting the CX-3, its a little more pricey to purchase but it won't depreciate like a rock like this Hyundai will so in the end it may be cheaper to own.

Better yet forget the cx3 and get the cx 30. Cx3 is smaller than the venue in the back. Cx 3 is not worth it now that cx 30 has arrived. Jus sayin

Not in Canada. You need to step up to the GS trim with the 2.5l engine to get AWD. With taxes and fees, the price comes out to $29,480

It's so ugly. These tiny CUVs are useless and look goofy. No storage space either. It's a tall compact car and I wish automotive journalists would have the balls to call them what they are.

The difference between the Kicks, Kona and Venue is. The Venue is seriously ugly. More ugly then a Pontiac Aztek. More ugly then the AMC Pacer, and as ugly as a Cybertruck. If you look in the dictionary for ugly you see a picture of this.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but this thing is ugly. All the minions jumping on the SUV, sub compact SUV venue in North America is unfortunate. Their lack of taste is destroying purchase options for buyers who want sub compact cars and who do not want what all the minions want.

This Hyundai Venue 1.6 n/a engine has the worst MPG of all the cuv/small suv/etc of all equivalent and non-equivalent vehicles in the Australian lineup, but...... 'this car will attract alot of young women' 2:22

Chris Huber not when you compare it to something like crv that gets 34 mpg highway in fwd or 33 mpg with awd. And Honda is huge compared to this and way more powerful too. I’m surprised Venue isn’t more efficient.

Hyundai Venue 1.6 n/a engine with a combined city/highway of 32.7 mpg is poor. Compared to a (much larger) Honda crv 1.5 Turbo & a (larger) Subaru xv 2.0 n/a engine both with a combined city/highway of 33.6 mpg. Hyundai Venue fuel economy is 💩

@@mrgarrison3516 the 1.6 is a small engine for the venue. It's a cheap model. Your putting it up against cars that are 15 thousand dollars more. In real world driving the Xv gets 32 mpg combined from a 155 hp engine. This 1.6 has 120 hp. If it had the 2.0 Atkinson cycle from the elantra it would achieve over 40 mpg combined. The elantra gets high 30 mpg all day long and it's a bigger vehicle than the venue.
