Shot both the 31 and the 28 the other day. Also shot the Hoyt rx4 as well. Was really impressed with the draw cycle on the Mathews vxr’s both were very smooth, really easy to draw back. The Hoyt was nice as well. But draw seemed smoother on the Mathew. In my opinion. This is also coming from a guy who’s owned a Hoyt for the last 7 years

Thanks for the review. Some people need to shut up about the VXR trying to be a vertix or triax. Apparently it's not. The stability on the new riser is way better balance then the vertix and the triax. A better draw cycle due to the limb being in a different spot from the vertix and the triax.

Glad to see someone else struggling a bit pulling it back at 70lbs. Just got mine today so had to pull it quite a bit for the tuning it was a bit of a chore. Hopefully it will get a bit easier with time. Wonder how much speed it will lose dropping the weight down to 60.

Tried VXR 28 today and thought it was great. Going to try the 31.5 when it arrives in my local shop. My question is my draw length is 28” so I am right at the max based on your comment in regards to ATA vs draw length, so will the 28 be a more efficient bow then the 31.5? Thanks from Ontario Canada, enjoy your videos.
@InsideOutPrecision
@InsideOutPrecision 4 жыл бұрын
Well no the vrx 28 and 31.5 have the same cam so they're gonna shoot the same speeds no matter what the draw length is. The efficiency thing only applies to bows like hoyts that have two different cam sizes and rotating modules

Good question I'm 28 inch draw too and I'm wondering if I should go with the 28 because I hear a lot of people saying that its better for short draw length shooters but I'm wanting a Bow for hunting and 3d so I'm wondering if i should go with the longer VXR 31.5 or the shorter VXR 28 ...decisions decisions lol😂

Sorry I was not clear with my question. What I am trying to determine is if my draw length match’s the ATA of the VXR 28 even though I am not at the max draw length of the bow should I still go to the VXR 31.5 based on the premise I should shoot a bow with a longer ATA then my draw length?

It's a great sight! The trick is going to be getting it sighted in, as you have to be able to shoot back to 60 yards to calibrate the sight tape. If you get one I'd recommend just shooting at 20-30 yards for a while until your shot becomes more consistent, then put on the calibration tape and shoot it at 60

Great reviews , I have 2 question and don't know of another way yo reach out besides youtube. First are your still planing the release videos on tuning bows for purchase. And now the second question , I just replaced my string on my Mathew Triax with ABB strings and I am trying to get the right configuration for the yoke tuning . The yoke are vary close to the came and I have tried everything , changing tops hat out to move it closer to the cable rollers so the outside yoke it not that close to the came . Well it have been a challenge. Once I get it perfect I will document it and share it. I love everything about Mathews but this has been a challenge. I would greatly appreciate any guidance that could be given. thanks again

You need to push the cam towards the direction of the tear. So if you're tearing tail right, start by putting the larger top h ok t on the left side of the top cam. If it's still right, do the same for the bottom

I was watching an ATA video of a Mathews guy talking about how he has a 30 inch draw and he uses the 28. He said he’s used to ducking so it doesn’t bother him because of how big the cams are.but he is sponsored by them so he has to say good stuff so is it really bad for say a 28 1/2 or 29? Never shot a bow, surely it would be an overkill to get this bow with 60lbs. What do you think? And dropping lbs even more would only working with a bow press? Am I right?
@mrmeierrr
@mrmeierrr 4 жыл бұрын
You don't need a bow press to change the weight. 60lb is 60 max. It can be fine tuned by loosening the top and bottom limb bolts equally with an Allen wrench. 60 will go down to at least 50; 70 to 60... This is true for most all compound bows not just new ones.
@Shiwwy
@Shiwwy 4 жыл бұрын
@@mrmeierrr thanks for your answer mate, but im a bit more confused regarding the VXR now, sorry 😅 The VXR has these 5lbs up\down mods... so I thought If im getting the 60lb VXR I could go up to 65 or 70lb with the specific mods.(I can go down which I get bc you explained it very good).Wheres the thinking errors? 🤔 The difference between a 60lb VXR to an 70lb isnt just the mod? Edit: i think i have it now, If a have a 70lb VXR I can go down to 60lb with just the mods, and even more if Im using a Allen wrench on the limbs!?
@mrmeierrr
@mrmeierrr 4 жыл бұрын
@@Shiwwy yup it can be adjusted with the switch weight mods as well. The SW mods are a newer thing, before that you only had the limb bolt adjustment. With these new Mathews you can use either. However supposedly bows perform best at their peak weight with limb bolts all the way tight. So technically a 60lb max would be more efficient at 60 than a 70 turned down to 60. So in theory the correct SW mod is a better system for changing draw weight. Does it matter for an average guy? IDK. Hopefully that makes sense. Probably confusing for a newbie, I'm new to this too and get confused sometimes with all the new stuff.
@mrmeierrr
@mrmeierrr 4 жыл бұрын
@@Shiwwy I think part of the reason they went with the switch weight system is that one bow can fit a variety of people with a simple mod change. Whereas other bows without SW to go from a 60lb max to 65 or a 70 lb max. You would need a bow press to change out the limbs on the bow.
