Did you use anything to fill the gap at the tailgate ? I have the Rambox and multifunction but not sure exactly what to use to fill it with that’s waterproof. Looks like an inch gap

@@flamesfan6874 I didn't. I thought about putting some weather stripping in there or something, but so far, it really hasn't shown that it is getting very wet inside. I still might go back and put some in.

The G2 I just got today wouldn’t fit on my ‘21 limited, my cargo rails are all black and different than any I’ve seen in these videos. Im guessing the MX4 will fit, I’m returning them tomorrow.

Good video. I have a 2015 Ram with Ramboxes, and the Bakflip MX4. I MUST close the TAILGATE FIRST, and then the cover - other wise it will damage the cover and the tailgate. I plan to buy a 2023 Ram, with the Ramboxes AND the Multifunction Tailgate, which is what you show here. Do you have to close your tailgate first? Looked at a LOT of covers, and was ready to spend 2500 on a rollup, but I think the MX4 is better for the way I use it.

Thank you, have a 21 Laramie with the box /multi func tg setup and was looking for a hard looking lid, so far just seen diamondback but they are hundreds of dollars more and all these other companies say their covers are not compatible so them you very much!!

Thanks for posting. I'm looking moving to the Rambox and multifunction tailgate myself and was wondering what cover I could use and keep stuff dry. I have a 2019 1500 with a Diamondback split hard cover that I've been very happy with that is waterproof. Even going though car washes with it, I get no water inside. But it wouldn't work with Ramboxes since it sits on top of the bed. This looks slick. Have you ran down any dusty roads with it? Wondering how much dust you get into the bed with everything down and closed. On my 2019 I had to add some tailgate weather stripping to help keep out the dust. As you drive down dirt roads that have bunch of dust, it swirls around the back eddy of the tailgate area and penetrates into the bed if you don't seal up the tailgate. With the split tailgate, I was wondering if that would happen even more if they don't seal it.

i had bacflip f1 on my last truck (escalade ext) it had something similar to ram boxes and it would not keep water out it would constantly leak where it folds just got the new 2020 ecodiesel limited with tailgate but no rambox and am looking at diamondback. You still recommend?

Absolutely love my MX4 on my 2020 Rebel however the two side 1 inch gaps allow a lot of water in. Let me know which seal you find online or amazon to fill that void. Shocked they don’t supply a couple. Thanks for sharing as I have the same issues but love the cover!

I have seen what looked to be recent versions of the MX4 with water catching buckets/hoses on tail end of the rails as well as the ones you have in the front of the bed. Did they come with your kit?

Hey Rocky, I know this an old video, but i just picked up a 2021 1500 Built to Serve with the MFT.....It has the corner braces in the front of the bed. did yours have them too and how did you handle that situation? Nice looking truck!!

Rambox trucks don’t have the bracing with mft. You can buy aftermarket braces that will work with bed covers

I got an MX4 for my 2021 w/ram boxes, 5.7 bed, and the seals on the rails don’t seal against anything. If I try and lift the rails to make them seal against the ram box plastic, the bulk head is too high. Both sides leak at the rails and I’ve messed with it all weekend. Any suggestions?

@@robertbower1 No, came stock with silver rails. Maybe they changed something in the bed with the 2021’s. I ended up getting my own weather stripping and lining the silver rails with it. 98% water tight now. Still got leaks at the double seal on my tailgate but it’s not a huge deal.

Not sure what determines what rails they install but I want to install an MX4 as I had on on my other RAM and loved it. However, I need to spend $270 for the silver rails in order to install an MX4.

Depends on the year of the truck, and then if you have Ramboxes, liner, sprayed on liner, etc. I have a factory sprayed in bedliner on a 2015 Laramie and I barely have 19" clearance. The question to ask (based on the year of the truck) is what clearance you have from the bed, up to the cover when closed.

@@jamesjannell8706 so you take it off it so easy to pop off throw it in your garage and go... 2 clamps on the back and 2 clamps on the front and easy lift and go.... It has to come off if your loading a bike...

Up close to the rear windshield, the cover is about 8" from the rear windshield when folded up agains the rear windshield. If you don't have an 8' bed, you'll need to leave the tailgate open for a full size bike (as opposed to a minicycle). Those with Rambox option have a tailgate extender for this.

So I have a 2020 Ram Rebel I purchased it with factory cover. It had the black rails so those won't work. What you need to do is order the left and right silver rails I installed my MX4 today 68027048AD Right side 68027049AD Left side

UPDATE: Anyone else have this problem? When I drive with my multi-function tailgate open, even if it has a load on it (picture 12' lumber, or a sofa), it becomes unhinged from the pins and is a BITCH to put back on. The tailgate is really heavy and cumbersome and requires two STRONG men to get it back on. Luckily, I did find a fix for this.
