You should translate the cost to a percentage of GDP so that you can see the relative cost compared to the wealth of the country. Maybe the Americans spending 2 to 3 times more actually costs less when taking into account the size of the economy, if that makes sense.

This was a nice tactical demonstration video. The ESSMs were so effective, the Burkes didn't need to fire their CIWS guns. Nothing short of a multi-pronged combined arms attack can make a Burke sweat. Let alone a flotilla of them. My missile wishlist for CH is as follows. The Zircon hypersonic anti-ship cruise missile. That thing has a top speed of Mach nine and it can sustain that speed, unlike the Kinzhal. Tomahawk Block V which will help to restore primary anti-ship capability to USN surface ships. The standards are just secondaries. LRASM-B. YJ-100. It's the anti-ship variant of the CJ-10 and can be launched from the H6 bomber and the Type 0-55. Keep the new stuff coming so the battles can remain competitive.

One thing we need to realize with US warships, is that every single SM-2, SM-6 and ESSM on the ship is an anti ship capable supersonic missile that can be fired in massive salvos. So while it appears as if US warships have limited ASuW capability, the exact opposite is true. They have absolutely massive ASuW capability.

1st you only gave them flight IIIs, only 1 of which is currently listed in service. they should be (or include) flight IIs with Mk141 Harpoons. even without those the battle was not over, they still had 4 Mk-45 5"/54s with nothing to stop them from blasting those FFGs, with their smaller 10cm guns to scrap then blasting everything on the coast to smoldering craters. - that would have been a total US Victory.
