I just bought one of these new about 6 months ago and I love it, this review was what really solidified my decision. I did not get the series.white, so I didn't get all of the goodies. I will say that the stock speakers are absolute trash. My wife's base trim 2008 Honda Civic has better clarity in the midrange. The brakes on the normal WRX do the job but there's a lot to be desired. The seats are comfortable but they could definitely be bolstered a little better. However, I will say that this car is an absolute blast to drive. It is my first manual. I drove an STI only a handful of times prior to buying my WRX, so 95% of my experience driving manual is solely in this car. If you don't know how to drive stick, this car is challenging to learn on. Since I've owned it, I've driven a Mustang GT, Focus RS, STI, GTI, Civic SI and a handful of other cars and they're all incredibly easy to drive in comparison. The WRX is a very responsive car in a sense that everything you do right or wrong, it'll let you know how it feels about every input you make. Very satisfying once you get it right. I could write an incredibly long review about this car but your video hits all of the marks incredibly well. Thank you for doing these reviews, I don't know if I would've made the decision to buy this car and learn manual if you never made this. Driving my car has become my absolute favorite thing to do and it brings me so much joy. Thank you!

HappeninG That is a joke. Stage 1 is to fix the drive ability. It only adds like 10hp? It doesn’t require you to put an aftermarket air intake or any of that. If your scared of the dealer voiding your warranty, don’t do it. You can flash it back to stock tune anytime. Let’s say your exhaust hanger broke off or your door lock stopped working. How would they claim that since you did an aftermarket tune we are not liable? Let’s say you modify your car, change out the air intake. Then you throw a Cel, you bring it in. Then they can say it’s because of the intake we can’t do anything about it. By the way I’ve used the perrin intake, just for more noise and there is no check engine light.

No hate or anything, i like the review overall. I have a 2020 sti and work for a subie dealer so i have to say, the wrx is not a new old car. My sti is 😂 the FA20 wrx’s have a new engine with direct injection, equal length headers and a twin scroll turbo. It doesn’t sound or drive like an old wrx and I laughed my ass off when i heard him mention turbo lag. THAT’S THE WHOLE POINT OF THE TWIN SCROLL TURBO, NO LAG! The current sti is a new old car and that’s why I bought it, but the gap between the sti and wrx has never been wider. Used to be a budget version of the sti but now it offers some great advantages OVER the sti so it’s more about what you want. Modern engine with a dailyable power band and a softer ride, better mpgs, minimal effort to run ethanol, etc. The reason you want an sti is a stiffer chassis, better brakes, EJ25 so the tuning support is unlimited, and better suspension. (And i think the slight turbo lag on the sti is fun) Otherwise I love they vid, keep it up man 👌

I can’t wait to see you drive the new one since I have a deposit on one. Despite the controversy of the looks, it sounds like they have improved an already good drivers car. I was torn between the WRX and the Elantra N but with Hyundai dealers all within driving distance wanting $5,000 over MSRP for an Elantra N while Subaru is only asking MSRP, kind of made my decision. Also, the struts in the back of the Elantra make it a little less practical. I also have never driven an AWD “performance car” so I am interested in the WRX, and the resale value is great if I decide to upgrade later.

@Steve-qr2lm4 жыл бұрын
Why?
@scottperkins78264 жыл бұрын
Steve honestly I felt like the WRX was built better interior and mechanically, but that’s just me....the STI feels cheap on the inside for the money and there are a few downgrades to the interior....not to mention a brake job is about a cool 3k...fun car and all but for the money if I could go back I wouldn’t have traded in my WRX
@Steve-qr2lm4 жыл бұрын
Scott Perkins good info, only reason I went 2020 wrx is I don’t trust the EJ25 for spirited driving/track days, to many common issues.

@thearmoredbluedragon1134 жыл бұрын
The WRX is pretty fussy and would say it would be frustrating for a newbie. I test drove a Veloster turbo and it shifted very easily and the clutch was light and forgiving in my opinion. A new driver could learn on that easily. The N though could be a different story for all I know though!?

I have a 2015 STi as well as a 2020 WRX performance pack. Although the STi is amazing, I think the WRX is a better bargain especially with the Brembo brakes. If you want a daily driver get the WRX, the low end torque is much more usable.

@jasonyee65334 жыл бұрын
@@alexpeguero38For me, the STI is a more raw, engaging driving experience. The transmission feels more confidence inspiring when you push the car. The steering rack is hydraulic as well (so a better response to the road). And lastly, I feel the car is wayyyy smoother daily driving in the city than my wrx. My wrx had no room for error on any "mis shifts" and could be a little herky jerky. IDK if its just me, but the STI feels way more refined when I am cruising around the city.
@CarStory4 жыл бұрын
@@alexpeguero38 If you are asking about the difference between a WRX and STI, I might be able to help since I drove them both before buying the STI. I drove a 2019 WRX and like many others the first thing I noticed was the rev hang. Subaru has corrected some of that but it's still there to an extent. The WRX felt a bit quicker in the lower rev range but I found that it quickly ran out of torque around 4000rpm. The STI builds speed consistently until you reach 6k rpm. The WRX steering, suspension and transmission feel are inferior to the STI. This is something you need to experience for yourself. One good thing about Subaru is that they will actually let you test drive a WRX or STI with no problem unlike Honda with the TypeR. You are more likely to get a kidney from a Honda dealer than a test drive in the TypeR. Since I own an STI I can tell you that I am very glad I didn't get the WRX. A big mistake people make is spending all kinds of extra money trying to make a WRX an STI. At this point (fall 2020) I would wait to buy anything until the new STI comes out. If you don't like it you can always find a preowned 2019-2020 STI, and those are the ones you should get because of the improvements made to the STI in 2019.
