Maybe there are two reasons why paint measurment is so disappointing on new cars: 1st Car manufacturers don't expect their cars to acquire some value to the future automobile hall of fame when they become vintage 2nd Fashion is no polluting so by this way you save some money (in this case millions) over thousands & thousands of new cars build

Great video and great advice! I wanted to add my two cents if you don’t mind; leave some room for those upsells (or the other options that you offered someone and they didn’t initially go with, because the chances are they will go with them when you mention it again when they drop off or they will device on their own) and then you’ve already allocated enough time to do them without compromising quality or having to push other customers back or having to push yourself and work overtime and take a toll on yourself. Great video per usual!

I just got my 2021 STI like 3 weeks ago and i can confirm that the dealership swirled it up really bad. About 2-3x worse than the STI in the video. As I have mentioned before it astounds me that you can spend $100k + on a brand new car and the dealer thinks it is ok to deliver a car with scratches and swirls. To me you select a colour to highlight the cars shape and lines so the car is presented in the best light. I just don't understand the lack of care not given to this detail, have they not heard of the saying "First Impressions" thanks for your dedication and expertise much appreciated.

Would it be more cost effective to use whatever ratio of isopropyl alcohol and water, versus those paint prep sprays? Is the paint prep spray doing anything the IPA mix doesn't do? Just curious so I know if its worth spending the money on that stuff.
@CarCraftAutoDetailing
@CarCraftAutoDetailing 3 жыл бұрын
They are quite similar in performance but a little nicer to use. If you can get the isopropyl alcohol in bulk at a good price as well as some distilled water you can save some money, but at least here in Australia 100% isopropyl is very expensive as is distilled water to the point that it’s usually cheaper to buy these panel sprays in bulk.

Love your videos!! With all of the knowledge from your videos I'm going to paint correct and cermaic coat my car. It just happens to be a 2018 Subaru Sti Type Ra in World Rally Blue!! Can't wait for the 2nd video. My STI has about 2.5x more swirls than this overall. Do you think Carpro Essence with a Lake County Orange Polishing pad on a Torqux DA will be enough to remove the swirls considering how soft the paint is? Also, how would I go about correcting a Caron Fiber with a gel coat? Mh roof and wing are CF
@CarCraftAutoDetailing
@CarCraftAutoDetailing 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks, and if the swirls are deeper you may need something with a little more cut but I think that could be a good place to start and just see if it works well in a test section. You can use the same pads and compounds to correct carbon fibre, but it’s usually a little harder to remove defects on it so you may need to use a slightly more aggressive combination.

It's so hard to find a good detailer. Bought a new car, went straight to the detailer from the dealership for a ppf and ceramic coating and I've had to take it back 3 times to get the film reapplied. Totally regret spending nearly $4000, the film has been nothing more than a headache. Even had to wash the car myself, after taking it to them TO BE WASHED, because they had done such a bad job.

Question for you, as I'm just about to start a ~week long process of completely detailing my car and ceramic coating it. Is it possible to polish black plastics? I have an evo 10, and it has a very large plastic diffuser. It's taken quite a beating over the years, and major scratches and gouges can't be repaired, im more concerned about recovering the sheen it had when new, as it's now more of a dark grey than the black it should be.

You are able to see and keep track of where you’ve precisely rinsed a little better and it does force you to rinse longer and more thoroughly because you are working against gravity, so they can been seen as advantages, but there is also the question of whether pushing dirt back up to run down and reintroducing it on the upper panels is a better way to go, and I’m not entirely convinced- but we’ll see!

Hey bro, I dont see any floor drains in your wash bay. How do you deal with all the water? I am in a warehouse building and I wash outside then bring it inside....but especially in the summer, I'd like to wash inside. I cant install drains so just wondering what you do.
@CarCraftAutoDetailing

There is quite an expensive and large chemical separation drain that sits under the vehicle in my wash bay and an exterior holding chemical tank - it’s something that in my area is required by law. Although I don’t have any first hand experience with them, I do believe that there are mobile/non-permanent water/chemical catchers that can be setup as a perimeter around the car to contain the water/chemicals and store them for later disposal, but I don’t know who makes them or where they are available unfortunately.

@@CarCraftAutoDetailing ahhh, well I guess it was just not noticeable. Yeah, I've been looking at containment mats. I may go that route since I cant install a drainage system.

Hello, is there a product you use to prevent the brake rotors from rusting after a wash? I am having this issue. I don't want to drive the car to dry the brakes because often times I wash in the rain and driving would inevitably get the car dirty again before pulling back into the garage. I appreciate the great videos. Thanks

Although I don’t personally use it, there is a product called Hyde’s Rustopper that if sprayed immediately after the rotors get wet will prevent the rust from forming.
@TwylaV
@TwylaV 4 ай бұрын
Thank you for your input. Is there another method you use to prevent the rust or do you let rust and be removed naturally on the next drive? It looks horrible the day after a wash, I wonder if my water has something to do with it. They rust and then the rust-water drips onto my wheels and leaves them dirty on my next drive so its something I'd like to counteract. Thank you again@@CarCraftAutoDetailing

@Hottzebrachick no, I just drive the car back and forth braking a few times to clean it off and then blow the shaved off rust with compressed air.

@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Sandro...have you considered using the Defelsko Positector 200 advanced paint thickness gauge? It's ultrasonic and will give you 3 layer thickness measurements, and specifically the exact clear coat thickness in microns, they are alot pricer than stardard gauges, north of $2000usd for a unit, but I think it would take out all the guess work, and you'd know exactly how much clear you had to work with, I've been wanting one for a long time, big detailing places in the UK and US use it.

Unfortunately they only measure seperate layers on plastic or fibre based substrates - not metal on panels. I don’t believe there is a gauge that measures separate layers on painted metal ... yet!

I own a 2019 Subaru wrx cvt premium (36k msrp, bought it for 26k) and let me tell you its an amazing car and there is nothing that compares at that price point, (the civic, veloster, gti, and ford st products are either less value or way to much money for what you get) but the two places Subaru cost cut to hit the super low price points were the interior which has an insane amount of abs plastic and limited foam for rattle protection. And the paint. I have a lot of little rock chips and I use touch up to help mitigate that but if I would have known how bad the paint was from day 1 and had the money (which to be honest I really didn't) I would have gotten a high quality paint protection film even though I really hate paint protection films. I am a purist in the sense I like a thick clear for protection and not a film but I think on the wrx/sti it makes sense. It's to late for me to take that approach but for new buyers I would recommend it. I wish Subaru had an option for the paint level Acura offers on the NSX but in a world of cost savings it just wasn't available. I am currently in the process of turning most of my interior panels from plastic to leather or alcantera but it is a big task.
