Since December 2015 when I picked up my new Tesla Model S 70D the car has started and run and performed and put that Tesla smile on my face everyday. Power is there instantly from a standstill or while attempting to merge or pass. And for such a big car, it handles really well in the corners with it's low center of gravity. From what I hear, the same is true, if not more so, of the Model 3 and Model Y. It has never let me down. And it does all of this with those minor panel gaps. Frankly, I never noticed the gaps until so many OCD reviewers and wanna-be reviewers pointed them out. Could be worse, could be a BMW or a Mercedes with no panel gaps, lush interiors but frequent visits to service to fix major engine, transmission and other system problems, not to mention the arm and the leg it cost for repairs. No, I'll take the gaps & the reliability any day for the smile my Tesla puts on my face everyday.

I think its crazy to spend over 50K+ on a car and there are build quality issues. The issues you point out with other luxury models are issues outside of warranty. I think you should have expectations and not acceptance of poor quality control on an expensive vehicle...

Your guys' videos 95% convinced us to get a Kia Telluride; we were about to do so before friends were adamant that we seriously consider a Tesla. After researching and test driving - it was no contest. Put in our order for Model Y Long Range... but est. delivery date Jan/Feb/Mar '22 window... so we updated it to Model Y Performance and should be here in mid-late September! Estimated drop off at my local Tesla showroom this Saturday so we can complete the Delivery Tasks on the app faster. 😂 Used 2020 MY LR (Acceleration Boost standard and Basic AP) I had a 2013 Volt (gateway PHEV/99,999.9+ miles on the Trip A, 703.7 Gallons, and Lifetime MPG-142.6) and will go full EV once we get the MY LR. 😅

Model Y has too many build quality issues right now. I have had 2 deliveries declined due to quality issues...first one actually had a small dent on the roof line and second one the delivery center called me and said it failed their standards lol. Btw...first one was 43k VIN range and second one was 46k VIN range with Sept 2020 delivery dates.

before tesla ever addresses their general built quality issues in every model, they will just roll out another model because that is what drives the stock price. they dont care about actually even just meeting industry standard quality. it's a shame. i think they will never make a big dent in the car industry in terms of sales numbers because most people want a basic standard quality especially when they pay bmw to porsche money. at some point they wont be able to hide behind leading in software and accellaration anymore because is 5-10 years big companies will like have caught up to that, plus they can actually scale and still produce basic built quality - which tesla has proven time and again, they cant.

Interesting. Is it me or does this review have the loudest road/wind noise of any Model Y review online? Was a window down slightly? Even the creaks and rattles, it's exactly the opposite of the last two reviews I just saw. Check RedLine Review for example. Not a critique; just an observation.

The reason might be because we use a omni-directional mic to pick up our voices and the ambient sound all together, whereas some other reviewers use lavalier mics that focus on their voices more and cut out more of the background noise. In real life though, the Model Y is definitely louder than most of the competition.

I’m sorry, but no Tesla’s have good build quality. They are all awful with build quality, misalignment panels and poor choice of material quality. I’ve sat in quite a few Tesla’s (not early released models) and they’re all like that. Until Tesla gets their quality better than a 90s corolla, I would never consider one.

Car Confections I would have to disagree on that, as we were actually looking at a model 3 long range as a potential second car. I’ve sat in 3 different model 3s at 2 different dealers (2 were at the same dealer), and they all had those terrible issues. One had the piano black center console peeling, along with discoloured leather and terrible panel gaps after just 500 kilometres on the odometer from test drives. The others had just terrible panel gaps, none of the center console or leather discolouration. along with the fact that Tesla refuses to offer a head up display among other features one would expect, and that the range can shrink by almost half in the winter when it’s really cold, it came off my list immediately. We are now debating between a Certified pre owned 2018 BMW 440i M performance and a certified pre owned 2018-2019 Audi S5 sport back.
