@andyham60944 жыл бұрын
People going crazy over the bronco right now but remember ford abandoned the off road and body on frame suv market, the explorer is now a crossover. The raptor is the only true off road vehicle they have and that’s a full size pickup truck. They had nothing for suvs all these years. Now they entered with the new bronco because it’s a popular segment again. Chevy abandoned it too. Look what happened to the Chevy blazer, total soccer mom cross over now. They have the zr2 but that’s a pickup truck as well Look what happened to the Durango, it’s either a soccer mom crossover or spends its time racing on the street with the Srt. They have the power wagon but that’s a pickup truck as well. The trx is exciting but no sign of an off road suv. Toyota has stayed true to this segment whether it’s the 4runner, land cruiser, the fj cruiser before that was killed, and just the entire trd pro series has been around for awhile giving the off road community options. Gotta respect Toyota and Jeep for always staying true to off roading and never abandoning it even when it wasn’t as popular as it is today.

They were still rated at almost 10,000lb towing capacity like the tundra before they switched to the j2807 standard. Most people don't know the tundra and sequioa share almost 95% of the parts with the land cruiser. Most notable changes are the independent rear suspension that gives that 3rd row more room then the Landcruiser and even the suburban. In fact wit the second and 3rd row folded it has the same luggage capacity as a suburban while being a foot shorter. Actually learned that from another episode you guys had on the sequioa

Living in Colorado, we just purchased a 2021 4Runner Limited and spent 4 days driving in Rocky Mountain National Park on and off road in the snow and ice. It did well especially on curvy highway roads. Very impressive. Off road was mainly snow and ice as the steep and challenging off road trails were closed for the season. We will be back this summer and give proper off road test for our 2021 4Runner Limited and it’s factory enhanced full time 4WD hardware and software including the A-TRAC system. Returning to our home in Colorado Springs, Colorado we achieved 24.5 mpg according to the onboard computer. The advanced sports suspension and full time 4WD is ideal if one is mainly using on road use, as it shines on curves and highway speeds that also has awesome off road capabilities both of which are only available in the Limited trim. For serious deep ruts, rock crawling and over landing, the TRD Pro is the way to go.

Have had 6 Tacoma’s , 2 4runners , 1 land cruiser FJ 40, 3 tundras and 1sequoia . If I had to pick one for 4 wheeling over landing and just the most versatility no question it would be the Sequoia. Ya it’s big but not any bigger then the Tundra , 5.7 381hp ,independent rear suspension great ride both on and off road carrying capacity Huge , gas mileage sucks 14 to 15 MPG tow s boats , 28 ft travel trailer like there not even there . You can buy them all day long for under 50K and put a 4” lift on . My experience with the 4Runner is when you have it loaded for over landing it’s gas mileage goes to 15 to 16 MPG . Does not tow 3,500lbs well , not enough power . Before I got another 4Runner my second choice would be a tundra with a camper shell very capable . For just 4 wheeling the 4Runner is the ticket but in my opinion lacks in the rest of the categories . The nice thing about my experience with Toyota’s is you can run them for 250,000 miles easy as long as you take care of them .

Zuke you couldn’t get 2 TRD Pro’s for that price...but I understand your point. The 5 speed transmission in the 4R is fine. The 4R's big problem is the terrible powerband of the 4.0. It's completely devoid of low end torque; the power comes on much too high in the rpm range to be of much use. I have one, and the more I drive it, the less I like this motor. The 4.0 really lets the 4R down. Unfortunately, the alternative (the 3.5) is even worse. I'd love to see a turbo 4 with good low end (like an Ecoboost or the JL) in the 6th gen.

I would say 4runner. Tbf it's the last true old school SUV left, Body on frame build, 6 gears or less, fairly high capacity engine. However, of all the 4dr SUVs I would still choose the H3, it's somewhat simple (it's compacted design is a bit of a bother), is pretty well powered(V8 alpha), and is extremely good off road, it's only downside being the higher maintenance requirements. I don't consider resale at all, because if I like a vehicle, I'm not selling it. But of all the modern SUVs you can buy in America, the 4runner would be hands down my first choice. unless GM ever fixes their mistake with the blazer, I seriously don't think the 4runner will have competition in America. It would be nice if Toyota would drop this crawl control crap though, the H3s do the same thing as the Toyota does, but I you don't have to activate a weird Cruise control to use it, even base H3s got this system, the very least imo Toyota could do is activate the system to work in 4 low, regardless if crawl control is on or off.

I've had the Sequoia as a rental and the Nissan Armada, that would be an interesting matchup to try. The Armada got far better fuel economy and a smaller turning radius as well as seeming to have better acceleration.

I wish the Sequoia came with a V6 diesel option...

Not that most folks will do heavy, perhaps much/any off-roading with it, but the Sequioa TRD Pro has the higher ground clearance.

Out now with the inevitable $5,000 dealer mark up.. I love my 4R limited. Wouldn't change it for anything else, though I'll admit I do like the front end of the TRD pro (2019 version) better than the Limited; but I like my creature comforts more.

Looks like the 2020 Trd pro center hvac is the limited and the 2020 Trd off road is the standard hvac with the new head unit.

Forgot to mention the Sequoia has independent suspension all around, and the 4runner has a rear live axle. Land cruiser is the way to go for someone wanting a full size 4x4.

Hello, i'm a huge fan of your show. I would like to see a comparation of your "brand new" LR3 vs the VW Touareg in moab for instance :D, or a rubicon vs the LR3 in the same spot or both LR3 vs Touareg vs Rubicon, because if you try to find some of this comparisons in the net you don't find any and It was just a way to brighten the day of the fans. Thank you

I got a 2021 4Runner and super annoying that I have to move my driver's seat forward when I drop the back seats for cargo (I drive with the seat as far back as it goes, my inseam is only 34")

My local Toyota Dealer has brand new 19’ Sequoia Pro that was special ordered but the customer died that they we’re trying to basically give away this weekend just to get it off the lot because of the new 2020s - $41,500. I almost came home with a new Toyota, luckily my more responsible friend got me out of there. I don’t need new a new truck.

Thank you! I like them both but wish that Toyota placed spare tire on back and used the space for a bigger gas tank。
@sandman5035 жыл бұрын
Surprised he didn't talk about cargo space, for me the sequoia is the way to go because you can fold down the seats and comfortably sleep in the back, it makes camping on a whim a no brained.

I would like to see the Sequoia TRD Pro vs the Expedition FX4 on Rocky Top or Cliffhanger 2.0

Get a lightly used GX460, split the difference and put the extra money into mods. Get a v8, but a more nimble platform than Sequoia off road, more towing than 4Runner, 3rd row seating.

Was I not supposed to see this video yet? Either way, 4 runner
@brnt.93195 жыл бұрын
Jonathan Losito less clearance though and it’s a boat compared to the 4Runner. If you want something with a lot of aftermarket components and fine suspension tuning, the 4Runner is the go to. Sequoia may have potential off-road but at the end of the day it is a family grocery getter.

Roman on TRD Pro Sequoia in the No,Your Wrong video: "The TRD Pro Sequoia is a joke" Toyota: "We'll put you in one and put you on a special course if you make it look good" Roman: "Sequoia is surprisingly good off-road and would be just as capable as 4R if you took the sidesteps off. I'd choose it for a round the world expedition"

I wish we could get the very basic Land Cruiser Commercial over here with a manual. Toyota makes a very durable 2.7 petrol engine that would be just fine for the 3 door.

It obviously didn't actually lock the rear differential until you engaged that crawl control thing which is lame. If you push the locker button, it should lock. could have easily gotten out of that spot without crawl control if it actually locked.

The 4Runner back seats are fine, you wont hit your glasses if you recline the back seats with the levers on the outside of each seat...next to your hip!
